Mercedes C220 P0087 P0252 Fixed and How To Do Injector Leak Test

  • In today's video I'll show you how to fix P0087 "fuel rail pressure too low bank 1" and P0252 "injection pump fuel metering control A Range/Performance (cam/rotor/injector). My car here is a mercedes c220 cdi w204. P0087 is a generic code which can be related to other cars.
    I'll start by showing you the fault codes I have, using an obd reader. Starting from the first fault code "fuel rail pressure too low" I decided to do an injector leak test. During the test I've notice that one of the injector was leaking more fuel on the return then the other 3 injectors.
    At this point everything started to make sense for me so I just bought a new injector and replace the faulty one. After injector replacement I run the leak test again so I can make shore the new injector is good. At the end of the video I took the car for a ride to see if the check engine light disappear.
    Everything worked well for me and all I needed was an injector.

    Hello.
    In my case, I did the return test of the injectors and they were good. Then I replaced the high pressure pump whitout positive results, after that the common rail whithout positive results, also i check the low pressure fuel pump and everything ok, so that eventually when I get to the injectors I can figure it out that the washers(o-ring) of the injectors were no longer sealing properly.

      @@lsateam1491 I currently have the error P0252 Electrical error in the output quantity control valve was the injector really the trigger for this error???? I thought of the high-pressure pump or the quantity control valve on the high-pressure pump

    I have the same codr, it comes white smoke, and black when i started the car last time! I have damaged the return pipe aswell så doese leaks while returning!
    My problem now is that i cant start the car

    Hello, I broke my return fuel line and I kept getting P0087 Rail Pressure Too low - I replaced it with some aftermarket one, I cut one of the sides from which the original one was coming from and we added a metal pipe that connects both sides could that be the the problem maybe because not enough pressure comes from one to the other side?

    My car is leaking from connector plug as it’s broken, would be possible to replace the connector plug?

      God father i can’t remember what size is the hex screw.
      In regards to the connector plug I don’t think you’ll be able to replace it.
      You might have to consider buying another injector

    I have a question about P0087:
    The fault came up first time march 2023.
    When it pops up, the engine kontrol light, no a celebration ist accepted anymore. You can keep the speed but throttle is not accepted.
    The engine control light disappears and bring back normality after starting the engine 4 times.
    Fault only comes up back on highway driving constant speed over 130km/h.
    Interesting it came up between March an May 3 times, when the temperature s where always below 14 degrees, whole summer it didn't came up once!!!
    Now in November temperatures again below 14 degrees it came up 3 times on one 2hrs journey and again today
    2.2 om 651 2014 Viano, 197.000km
    It only comes up under certain circumstances temperature below 14°C and highway driving.
    Is it possible to presice the P0087 better with this information

    Hello! been fighting with same codes and managed to find the faulty injector changed it and car stopped smoking but now i still get the same code p0087 and car goes into limp mode but weird thing is this does not happen when i have less than 5 litres fuel in the tank. so once reserve fuel light comes on the car drives perfectly, any idea what this could be ?

      As I said when I’ve done mine I didn’t need any coding. Anyway coding is not that scary stuff to do. If you have a good diagnostic tool is a straight forward job.
      I use Delphi software most of the time. Recently I purchase icarsoft diagnostic tool which does a lot of service procedure: injector coding, battery coding, dpf regeneration etc.
      My one is a generic tool but you can buy specific one for your car. According with online reviews they’ve done a good job with their Mercedes dedicated tool.

      @@lsateam1491 yeah but mine ..was sprinter so I have experienced a bit of problem starting the van .. but I found way around it and now it all good

    mine leak- no engine man light on. At what mileage do you change the whole injector? or is it a case of checking the injector as it can leak at many mileage?

    hello, have problems with my s212 2015 250d with 651 engine, the car goes into limp mode at throttle, i have the code p008791, the fuel pressure in the system is low. has replaced both fuel pumps in the tank and a new fuel filter. do you have any tips what it might be?
