It just dawned on me that the "Rose knights" enemies are actually in reference to English history. Specifically, succession conflict known as the "war of the roses" where England was thrown into a civil war by three houses, House of Lancaster, House of Tudor (now called Windsor), and House of York who fought English throne. That might sound awfully familiar considering that Celtland a millennium prior fought over for control of the Eltale book but, what's more interesting here is that tImagineer
Interesting Theory about Guilty! I always wonderd who this guy was, how he is related to the story and why he has no element. When I first time met this guy as a kid, I was pretty sure about him being the final boss.
@@LvlJake I'll be honest, I don't go that deeply into the lore as you have done, I only give brief synopsis since I was doing it on the spot. But I do my absolute best to talk to everyone and explain what is going on. I do swear and get mad at some points in the game, but dang, was it fun.
This series is excellent, but if there was just one more thing that could have been added, was to see people's reactions after their problem is solved (You did this for Zelse, but I don't think it was done for Solvaring or Fargo). For instance, if you go back to Queen Deanna after defeating Fargo she says that she's worried that Fargo was working with Beigis and so must prepare for war, which is pretty large from a narrative standpoint.
Excellent video as always. I love the music in Baragoon Moor and had hoped that this area would be much longer. The castle is a great view and some villains in the courtyard are new to the game. Great as well is the view on the ocean. I wonder if they had to cut this whole area short before the somehow tedious castle begins. I think you even get attacked in the city itself which is different from the other towns. If I remember correctly Guilty is called by his name by one of the towns folks. In the german version they give him a slightly different name. Might be on purpose or one these numerous translations issues that the game has in the german version (I commented on this in your part 4 video ). So I guess Guilty was human before upon arrival with Shannon and turned into madness afterwards. I wonder how Leonardo got to the town? I don't remember when we saw him last time but apparently he got through the areas without facing Nesty and Fargo. Cannot wait to see the last part. Domyou have any plans for more videos or do you think you have everything covered about this game?
I love that you mentioned the view of the ocean, standing on the balcony behind the keep with the ocean view is really a great scene. Quest has such a great atmosphere in so many places, it's really enchanting. I remember you mentioning that, thank you for that by the way. I wish I could find a way to view the translations text in English to draw comparisons between the localizations. :( My hypothesis is that that Leonardo set off to East Limelin after we took care of Nepty and sailed off ourselves, and perhaps he took the alternative path in the Baragoon Mine that led directly to Baragoon More. I'm probably wrong, but it's food for thought. That's a good question, I think one day I'll want to go back and look at the other titles in the Quest series, but I'm very, very burnt out on Quest 64. After this series I imagine I'll move onto different games for a while, but I def will come back one day. If you ever have a suggestion though I'd love to hear it. Thanks for watching and commenting as always, and happy holidays!
@@LvlJake Take care. I totally appreciate your hard work. You not only haven taken a look at every subject of the game in detail. What I loved is your language, how you are not doing a simple, cold analysis but really telling a story with all the facts and data you gathered, even the fact that zines like Unseen64 had not with that mich context. And adding your well thought opinion as well when research comes to an end. The enemy name's as well as the locations are funny sometimes in German, sometimes just dumb. Don't know if it was done on purpose sometimes or if it was just a direct translation wothout knowing the content. If I do another playthrough I can note all these names. Of course the dialogue would be difficult to track down as a whole. In Grandia 2 there was a translation for Miss (when failing to hit in battle), the translation is "Fräulein" (like young lady) 🤣. For future projects I don't know your taste in games or favorite consoles. What I thought was cool that you took a game that most people hatee and that has been overlooked because despite the flaws there is so much content hidden. Another underdog would be interesting. On N64 there is Clay Fighter which has a very big potential and a development story alike Quest 64. But in the end, do whatever you like. You already did an awesome video series
Brannoch seemed to appear very Turkish(particularly the banners), and their ruler(who also looked Turkish) is on the bad guy side. As Turkey is a Muslim-majority country, I find it interesting that in the RL history of video gaming, you could do that sort of thing before Islamophobia had set in just a few years after. The same story regarding the Moorish/Berber Gerudos of Zelda. Highland is a land themed on the element of fire, and the RL Ottomans were masters of gunpowder which is essentially using fire as a weapon. I just want to say thank goodness that nobody has thought of what I just said at the time of development. It's really neither here or there. I'm just glad we could enjoy a game and a story without people fretting over stuff like this. The Rose Knights were so badass also. That was also a historical reference to the War of the Roses: the Houses of Lancaster and York, which were represented by a red and a white rose respectively. A country that is ambitiously warlike would have a revered knighthood, so they might not have been created at will. If it's anything like the RL history, a big part of Beigis' rise of power would be to unite the two orders to his cause. 19:21 I love that they did that. It's one of the best attention-getting techniques.
Looking at Guilty's distinct hair, it feels like maybe an earlier draft of the story had Shannon or Lavaar turn into that form? I dunno, both Guilty and Shif feel like they could've been anything in previous versions 😅

Exactly right!!
Your video series is such an upgrade to the game!
Thank you so much, that's such a huge compliment!! ❤️😭

Enjoying your analysis! Never got to into Quest 64 but appreciate the analysis of the lore. Hope you continue making more analysis videos :)
Thank you very much!!
It's here! I just clicked on the video but thanks for all your hard work!
Thank you for keeping up with it and being so patient, you guys in the Quest 64 community are the best ever.

Yes!!! It's here at last, just as I finished my LP! I wonder if our theories and critical thinking will be similar.
I'm going to watch your series tonight (So happy that I don't have work tomorrow), I'm so excited! I hope we can inspire each other.
Gonna be neat to watch and see!

You sent me the message a week ago, but I just now got it!
Thank you!
I'll be sharing this series with friends!
Thank you so much!!
I honestly wish a developer now days would see this game for what it honestly is, and do it the justice it deserved from the very beginning.
Me too, but curiomatic is doing a remake of Quest that looks really promising if you ever check it out!!
@@LvlJake alright. I'll look into it. Thanks man.
@@LvlJake oh that's cool news! I'll definitely check that out.
@@LvlJake Do you have a link? I can't find any mention of Quest from Curiomatic just Bomberman Hero Hd and Snowboard Kids 3
@@N-Xrd I'm messaging the lead member right now to ask for where to direct people to the public sources on it, I'll get back to you ASAP!
