I love this!!!! When my grandma passed away, I inherited all of her sewing stuff. She had tons of thread on wooden spools. I have wondered what to do with them, and this might be the answer! It would be great to gift these to my sister and cousins.
An updated version of a tree I made years ago. I wrapped green embroidery floss around the spool for several layers, keeping it very even just like thread wound in a spool. Brown floss was used for the trunk spool, and a small wooden star painted yellow was glued on the top. I don’t think I had a glue gun back then. I used regular white glue and waited for it to dry each time I attached a spool. Your fabric method is so much quicker. I think these would look good in scrappy green fabrics for a slightly more traditional look. Of course, green trees would not stand out if you were hanging them on a tree. Thank you for participating in the ornament hop.
Thank you for participating in the Ornament party and showing such a fun project. My first time viewing your channel and came here through the other participants. Glad this is an easy project. Have a pile of vintage wooden spools and other empty spools. Hopefully I’ll have time to make one. I’ll look up your other videos.
I loved this project, but for me, the hot glue did not hold the spools tight enough. So I had to scratch this project, as I was going to give it to someone this afternoon. I think I will keep the spools, maybe use a woodglue next time and have them ready for next year. Thank you again.
Love your tutorial! I just ordered the spools and anxious to make for next year! My friend just mentioned that one of these ornaments with cookies would be great!

Excellent so cute. I do have a jar of old small spools. You could take the long ends of ribbon bow and glue tack it down sides of tree.

Why not put the unfinished side toward the middle to hide it. Cute idea

So cute. I’m going to Hobby Lobby right now. 😊
How fun!! Super cute ❤❤❤, we used to do these with tiny spools embroidery floss in the 90'S, lol.
Could you put the seam edges next to each other so they don't show at all?
That’s what I was thinking. And you could embellish both sides
I had the same thought.
@@cindischroeder1896 I also was thinking the same thing. I'm doing that when I make mine.
This is such a cute and fun idea. I can't believe how fast it works up. Thanks so much for sharing this!🎄❤️
