Hey Mate, good to see you secured a nice mature animal in historic country. I know a TV show set the cultural precedent that it's appropriate to televise a granular level tutorial on how to hunt certain Canterbury High Country & Westland Catchments. However, what that fails to recognize nor pays respect to is, the disrespect shown towards hunters that have dedicated years into an area, learning day by day what are the best ways to optimize the hunting experience. It begs the question, "what are you chasing, notoriety or respect"? Nonetheless, food for thought mate, keep striving for excellence. Keep charging!
Hey bro nice video. Im 90 percent sure you hit the stag at 12.24 first shot. He reared up and defo looked like a hit. If that was 700 yards then good shooting but why not stalk closer to get a better chance?
Looks like it heard the bullet somewhere nearby, they normally flinch more if hit even lightly and react differently immediately after than it did. Probably just another hole in the hill.
Good going fellas, what date did you boys fly in as Im pretty sure we walked up and were camped in that basin the day before you, think we saw your chopper as we were walking out
Cheers man. Did you see anything right up on the tops when you went? There was heaps of sign up there but the animals seemed to be way lower. We went 3rd-9th of April.
In my day we stalked till we could see the whites of his eyes & take in the rutting odor. Used the old 303. That was the man against beast challenge. Can’t see the joy in high powered shooting. Just saying mate.
Difference between hunters and shooters. In your day fewer were out there doin' it hunting their mouths off. They did make plenty of mistaken assumptions too, but the science wasn't available so readily.
Don’t be sad mate, happiness is the key to life. Genuine in person conversations are much healthier then keyboards for mental health too mate. I’m sure you have someone close who is willing to talk with you 👍🏼
Well done boys! Great roar trip! 👍

Good for you. That might work to shoot shitters but mature animals take em when you get the opportunity
