Thanks for the good work, guys. I did a four day hike up there last month and the place looked pretty clean. I am disappointed to hear that the Forest Service didn't clean it up faster. As a former USFS employee, we would periodically patrol the roads and trail-heads on our district (out west) and clean up trash. Whether this delay is due to laziness or budget-cuts, it still sucks.
We made arrangements with them the day after hauling it out -- sorry to hear it's still there! I'll follow up with the district to get it hauled out. Thanks for the tip!
As soon as you said "the toughest trail in linville" I immediately knew it was pinch in. That was the first trail I ever took backpacking. Talk about earning my trail legs!
Very interesting. Just got back from a Gorge Trip. Quick question though...it looks like at one point in this video, you're knocking down a trail head sign? What's up with that?
my dream job.
I've been cleaning up the Gorge plus 105 campsites you wouldn't be leave what people leave behind I've did my part trying to keep it clean some people have no business coming up here leaving trash so people like us have to clean up the woods
There is a guy who sets up his own trails in the Linville Gorge and sells maps to navigate them. Sounds fun but he really ends up causing an excessive amount of resource damage. None of the trails are approved or went through an environmental assessment to judge if was doing damage to the watershed (many social trails cause excessive erosion due to poor design including these trails), delicate/rare plants and animals(like his trail through peregrine falcon nesting sites), the list goes on.
Do you guys who use these trails pick up any litter you see?
