This may only be a problem here in Australia but if you tie zip ties to your helmet and have the extra bit sticking up it is a good deterent and the birds won't swoop
TIP / HACK IDEA - If you want to use a fuel station / garage tyre inflator to seat your tubeless tyres but you don't have a Schrader to presta converter? You can take the dust cap off your presta valve cut the top 5mm off the dust cap then thread it onto the valve upside down using the newly made hole and it converts your valve from presta to schrader. Its a really handy tip if you don't have your own air compressor
Seth (and every person ever that uses zip ties), there's an electrician's tool that are fondly referred to as "flushies" - meaning flush side cutters. There are a few brands but the brand I've been using for years is Hakko: Hakko Micro Wire Cutters. These eliminate the need for Xacto knives or box cutter blades to get your zip tie cuts nice and flush and not have those awful, pointy ends that just destroy your hands and legs. 5 bucks. And they come in multi packs. They're small enough to fit in a hip pouch or one of those"water bottle" tool kits if you ride with that. Just thought I would point you towards them because I know I hate getting cut by those zip tie ends. Happy riding and thanks for all of the years of great content!
Here's a hack I used for a long time: if you only have clipless shoes you can cut a piece of old tire to fit in where a cleat normally goes and bolt it on then use them as flat pedal shoes
Hey man your videos/tutorials are great! Very informative, nice background music without being obnoxious, and a voice that's very easy to listen to, yet not condescending. I'm super impressed with your teaching skills! Keep it up, man! I subscribed and liked.
When I saw this video popup in my feed I loudly yelled: “YES YES YES YES YEEES!!” And evryone in my living room looked at me all weird and now that I’m done watching it’s safe to say that it was worth it
Hey Seth, one idea I saw from a buddy is to use a worn down low tread tire, cut it, and temporarily zip-tie it to a saddle. It keeps your bum from sliding around on the seat. After a big snow or rain the trails are muddy and this will give you more confidence. I'm a downhiller at heart and don't usually use my seat but I'm sure many people would find this useful. Come ride Trestle Bike Park in Colorado!
Since youre hurt again heres an idea. Do a budget build useing used parts, new parts, or stuff from online. Preferably not from sponsors unless it fits into the theoretical budget (so no 5c frame or mission pro). It can be a hartail or a full sus. Both could be really cool. The idea is to bring back that botched together kinda feel that your old bikes had. I think it could be an amazing project and you have all the time in th e world now due to the injury, so i hope you give this some thought. Thanks for reading
I picked up an XCT Concept full sus 21 speed on a Facebook listing and rode out to get it from 20 miles down the road. Nice day, so I rode out on my workhorse Trek 3700 which has a custom chainstay trailer hitch on it with the intention of taking them both back on the train. When I got there, the owner was waiting for me with a two litre pitcher of lemonade - made from fresh lemons! She must've been pressing them all morning! So she left me to figure out how to get both bikes the two miles to the train station while she finished packing her house into a u-haul. I was still trying to figure it out after she left, then it hit me... Thirty feet of paracord later, I'd tied the front wheel of the XCT to the chainstay, resting it on the hitch bar, and to the seat post, and the headtube to the pannier. The rear wheel of the XCT would be rolling on the road. I rode it back like that, a super bendy tandem. When I got back I wanted to do another forty miles! ...All the XCT needed was air in the tyres and the brakes and gears tweaking!

It may seem off topic, but I think many of us would really like to see a little bit of your video workflow process. You don't need to do a deep dive into your editing process, but just a good overall summary from shooting, organizing all the footage, overall edit process, and then particularly of interest to me, storage. You must have thousands of hours of raw and B footage from your videos. How do you store so much data? Cloud? RAID? Multiple hard drives? How are they organized so you can find that clip from a few years ago that you want to reference on a current video like you did here with the SoFla footage you put up? Again, not a deep dive. No need to give away trade secrets, but I do a lot of filming myself just for fun and for my own consumption and I'm starting to struggle with storing and organizing it all. I'm a big fan! I even ordered some SBH and Drama decals for my bike rack! :)

Tire bead seating and inflating tip: For stubborn tires, wrap a cargo ratchet strap around the circumference of the tire and snug it down. It forces the bead toward the rim wall, making inflation and seating easier (maybe even possible without a compressor or hack soda bottle inflater).
Keep it up and thanks these where very helpfull for me and i use those hools to hang them on the wheel to grap them when i need it i also have a rim hanging with those tire levers thats a bike hack for a wrecked rim
My last bike rack wobbled all over the place as well. That's why I sold it and got a Kuat NV 2.0. It has a knob on the back that tightens the rack to your hitch so it doesn't wobble at all. I think there are a few other hitch mounted bike racks that do that as well. Kuat has amazing customer support as well, good company. My SUV has dual exhaust and a turbo so the exhaust seems hotter than it otherwise would be, and on my car the rack sits really close to the bumper when it's folded up so that combination plus the strap sitting right behind the exhaust pipe melted one of my rear tire straps. They sent me a few for free after one phone call. I just love it when companies make things like that really easy and stand by their products. I now slide the tire straps over to the center when folding the rack up and haven't had a problem since.
Seth, I wanted to share a tip I would love to see you share. When cutting the tag end of a zip-tie/ty-rap, instead of using side cutters that leave a sharp edge, use fingernail clippers to cut it flush. Give it a try! I learned this a few years back and it works great!
Hey, congrats, you finally hit the 1000000 subs. I watch every single video and this since 2 years! Go on like this and don´t stop! Good luck for the future!

More or less one.milkion subscribers. Well done mate. I've been here sjnce 500 subs. Alwats loved your content, keep it coming! Here's to the next million. Peace and love.
Finally someone did the shoe lace hack... I've been using it since I started riding but I actually never seen a life hack video that talks about it... Very nice video man 💪🏼
Seth, another hack for long laces is the square knot. Easy to tie and they stay tight until a sharp tug up loosens the knot. No double knots or tucking required. Tie the shoe with a square knot, snip off the excess laces and tie off the ends so they don't pull out through the holes (melt the tips if all or part polyester). I do this to all my running, biking, hiking shoes with laces.
@@coolhead123 You can pay a lot extra to buy Rema Tire Talc online, but regular unscented baby powder is cheap & available practically everywhere. I do the same as Eric B suggests, I put a tube in a bag & add the powder, then seal the bag & shake it. Actually, I keep the same bag handy with a bunch of powder inside, & use it multiple times. I also pour powder into the tire & spread it all around by rotating the tire while tapping on it to knock the powder around, this should be done outdoors to avoid a mess. If the other guys in the shop ever gave me any flak, I'd point out that my tires never go flat from folds in the tubes or misaligned valve stems. But really, I do use quite a lot, and you probably don't need to use as much as you'd think.
A few years ago I learned by necessity, how to use a square lash to tie both seat stays on my trail bike after they snapped at the weld to the seat post. Luckily I was on a boating lake and a family who were out on a boat came in and offered me a few feet of paracord to see if there was any way of securing the seat stays enough so that I could get home. By the time I'd done the lashing and used a trucker's hitch to tighten the cord as much as I possibly could by pulling it parallel to the top tube and around the head tube, it was as solid as a weld! So there, pro tip: fifteen feet of paracord (which you can macrame into a bracelet and wear it!) for those on the road frame repairs!
hey seth, love your hack videos(: you can store an extra master chainlink in the bottem side of the pedros tire levers and secure them with a single layer of ducttape. it doesn't add any weight and the link is prodected from the elements. works for other small parts as well. i discovered that little hack when is was putting my "no-backpack-setup" togehter (:
I used a garden sprayer before bringing my bike back into my apartment, u can even use hot water which is a plus now thats its cool out. The figured out the shoelace thing on my own this year after getting tired of constantly checking if they are getting close to bringing my to a fast hault all the time. Cant be looking down while im riding. Great hack video once again!
Seth I saw you used the rylo, I have been looking into them and haven’t yet seen a good review on it from a MTB. Could you please do a review of the rylo?
I always carry tape. That 1" gorilla tape is good (good for rim tape if an issue). Awesome idea for the garden sprayer!!! Any idea how many YEARS I never knew what those hooks were for?!? Finally leaned to use those last year lol! I use an old movers blanket for a tail gate cover. Got it for free and can be folded over. I'll check out this foam, though. That movers blanket is a mess when it gets wet and is bulky. Great suggest on camera mounts! I have broken those plastic mounts by over tightening. I keep a dollar bill in my bike bag. Fold up and tape over a torn tire. Wont get you real far, but may keep your tube in (you do carry a tube, right?) To get back to the truck. Had a buddy slice a sidewall and had to make the walk of shame.
1:40 that’s such a good idea, I was riding a month ago, and got it looped around my left pedal really tightly, it took me 10 minutes to undo the borderline knot on my pedal, and now I have a solution
I love your videos for new riders, my kids and I watch them religiously. Maybe one about what type of trails are good for new beginners or what to avoid as a new rider. I’d also be interested in what tire pressure to use on different trails, you mention it a lot in passing but more explanation would be nice.
For people who like music you can put a Bluetooth speaker in a water bottle holder for more security Velcro, cable ties or lockable straps hold it in place. Seth keep up the amazing work
A tip I learned the hard way...when mounting your bike on the back of any vehicle, make sure no part of a tire is anywhere near the exhaust outlet. I destroyed a tire in about 60 minutes on one trip due to the hot gasses baking the tire.
Always love the vids!! Sometimes I even wait and force myself not to watch so I can watch 2 or 3 at a time but it's difficult to not press play right when I get the notification lol
I really don't like having to add new sealant every few months. Tubes, even expensive ones are cheaper and for me at least more reliable. Tubeless works especially bad if your rim is dented
Another great hack video. Love the shoelace one. Pool noodle. You can buy one at the dollar store and use it as a brake lever stop if you have to take a wheel off to put your bike in the car. It prevents the brake pistons from engaging. Just put a piece between your handlebar and brake lever.
Oh no! Poor Drama!!! That must have been torture for him! He's such a cool dog. That net is a really good idea though. That and the shoe lace tucking are definitely going to become part of my life. Cheers Seth!
That hack surprised me. I wear Chrome shoes and they have this sweet little elastic loop to tuck your laces in :D I kinda assumed 5 tens had something like that

Finn Grant I would check out Trail Peek’s video, which is really good and comprehensive. I will be reviewing it though!
So excited that you're this close to 1 million subscribers.
Finally I know what the hook is for on tire levers. I've been hooking it on the rim which isn't as useful.
Yes! Finally the real Seth's bike HACKS is back!!!
A CO2 inflator works great at setting a tire as well
No good on certain sealant though, so use to seat the bead then put in the fluid.
love from Denmark, please make more of these bike hacks, it brings back memory from the old Seth's bike hack videos
Hey Seth! Love the vids! You should build a bike from your spare parts bin
I love your videos for new riders, my kids and I watch them religiously. Maybe one about what type of trails are good for new beginners or what to avoid as a new rider. I’d also be interested in what tire pressure to use on different trails, you mention it a lot in passing but more explanation would be nice.
0:36 I'm gonna use Flex Tape.
For people who like music you can put a Bluetooth speaker in a water bottle holder for more security Velcro, cable ties or lockable straps hold it in place.
Seth keep up the amazing work
Also if u have a garden sprayer make sure to let all the pressure out before storing
A tip I learned the hard way...when mounting your bike on the back of any vehicle, make sure no part of a tire is anywhere near the exhaust outlet. I destroyed a tire in about 60 minutes on one trip due to the hot gasses baking the tire.
I've never clicked on a ved soooooo fast
Always love the vids!! Sometimes I even wait and force myself not to watch so I can watch 2 or 3 at a time but it's difficult to not press play right when I get the notification lol
Who else immediately clicked off another vid?
Easton Otten nearly immediately for me
Yup!
ASAP
Same here lol
As soon as i could
Great vid Seth keep up the good work
tubeless tires are a bigger enemy than my wife when she's hunting for something that i said i couldn't find
Just put a piece between your handlebar and brake lever.
poor drama we all miss him
You are about to get to a 1 million subscribers dude!! Wishing you luck Seth. :D
Hi seth I just learned how to bunny hop! Thank you! 🤗🤗
You'd think at my age, I'd know all this but clearly not. I learnt so much today. Cheers mate.
Using tire levers the way they were designed to be used, what a crazy hack
Beat me to it. Using a tool correctly isn't a hack.
this video isn't just for hacks. it says tips
Love your bike hack videos!! All of them are worth a try! 👍
When I'm on my bike commute and I see someone carrying their bike on their car or truck I think "Et tu, Brute?"
What are you qouting Julius Caesar for lol
@@shortsightedness8371 it means, you too, brutus?
Oh no! Poor Drama!!! That must have been torture for him! He's such a cool dog. That net is a really good idea though. That and the shoe lace tucking are definitely going to become part of my life. Cheers Seth!
I like the 5 ten shoes hack. For some reason there shoe laces are extra long lol so, thank you for show us that shoe lace hack.
That hack surprised me. I wear Chrome shoes and they have this sweet little elastic loop to tuck your laces in :D I kinda assumed 5 tens had something like that
I cut my laces down. They were way too long.
The last hack I'd much needed!!! Thanks
