I cant believe this is your 1st video it must be that you are a teacher irl, if not i suggest thinking about it. Easy to understand , well explained , baby stepped from the beginning and nailed the basics. Well Done.
🙌 Thanks for the kind words! It's not my first experience in an editing software (I've known how to cut up footage for years), but it's my first time making something "complete". (So recording, voiceover, heavy editing, video structure, scripting ect...). I am not a teacher IRL, I'm just passionate about game maths and game mechanics, it took a long time to write up a script I was happy with (2 weeks I think). This is all a novel experience for me and it's quite exciting :D
I've really wanted to try it out as well because it seems so destructive if you can combo it with dynamo. It seems so "off-meta" too which I really vibe with.
I remember being told about it by my mate or I think it might have been a video I watched. It's not really super noticeable so I wish Valve would make it easier to notice.
If you test each of the "Weapon Damage Instances" (which is what I will call them) in isolation, they seem no different to WeaponDamage%. However their lethality (and complexity) lies in the fact that some of them ignore parts of the damage formula that I presented as well as the fact that they are able to stack means you get more damage than what is listed on the item. I honestly think they could be meta defining, but I need a lot of time to figure out how they all work together, because it's really messy imo.
i may have missed it, but does the timing matter when buying an item that increases weapon damage %? say at time T i have 100 bullet damage and i buy an item that gives me +70% weapon damage. I should now have 170 bullet damage. I then use some hero‘s ability that increases my flat weapon damage by 60. i am now at 230 bullet damage. Now had i switched the order, i start with 100 bullet damage, then use the ability and get to 160 bullet damage, and then i buy the item giving me +70% weapon damage, i now land at 272 bullet damage. I know these abilities are only temporary but just for the sake of it :D Great video btw, exactly what i was looking for!! Would be nice to see one about spirit damage too :)
The timing doesn't matter. Think of damage calculations as 2 steps (this is a bit oversimplified but it explains my point). The 1st step is the gathering of all of your stats. So in this case, the game will get your 100 bullet damage, +70% Weapon damage and +60 flat weapon damage. The 2nd step is for the numbers to be plugged into the damage formula. So in this case, 100 becomes 170 (+70% weapon damage) which then becomes 230 (+60 flat weapon damage). Because buying items and activating abilities only affects your stats (so the 1st step). It won't matter that you bought or activated abilities in a different order, as the result would be the same. For your example to be true, item buys would have to affect the second step. If you want to test this, try it with Grey Talon in the sandbox. Grey Talon with no power increases, Glass Cannon (with no kills), Monster Rounds, Swift Striker, Grey Talons (2) at base. Regardless of the order you buy items or activate abilities, your damage will be 54. I hope this helps!
the quality is unbelievable for a first video, this is better than most content made by gaming companies themselves
❤️
This is top 5 Deadlock educational content so far, in all the months the game has been 'out' for.

Can't imagine how much time you spent to figure everything out. Great job.
I think at one point Steam said I had 80 hours in 2 weeks. That was just me in the sandbox testing and documenting hahaha

Thank you for the effort you put in! This is all great information!

I've really wanted to try it out as well because it seems so destructive if you can combo it with dynamo. It seems so "off-meta" too which I really vibe with.
@Yapistism vindicta stake should be enough, much easier to coordinate because its not an ult
ayo very impressive work!
Amazing Video!
This is gorgeous, well done.
Holy, someone finally ran all the numbers, no more snake oil and fairy dust 🙏
no more Viper oil and uh... idk. No fairy hero in Deadlock yet
Great guide, only thing being a bit unrealistic is that the dummy is not in my team as per usual
this is awesome, please make more deadlock videos, could add timestamps
There's a circle next to the healthbars for weapon damage falloff? Damn, i never noticed that.
I remember being told about it by my mate or I think it might have been a video I watched.
It's not really super noticeable so I wish Valve would make it easier to notice.
nice video
I feel like I just watched the birth of Deadlock's Marblr
The birth of Yapistism
cackle
@mercyfurudoRosa Umineko
So what are the benefits or alchemical fire and lucky shot if they don’t provide weapon damage?

Good content but you will have to make it again as the game evolves
