- Giving a crack at one of my favourite albums tones, For Those About To Rock from 1981. Very chewy guitar tone here from Angus. Using my 1970 SG Standard with Vineham 6070 Classic T-Tops, SoloDallas Storm, Dr. Dan M79 (2203 Replica) into the UA-Ox with a custom Greenback sim.

My dream sound for 13 years.... Beautiful.
It was always one I envied, and still do lol. Lots of high end taken off of the guitars on this album. Fat and chewy!
@@RockToneRevelry I envy... all I have left is illness and lack of cash to have such a marvel :D
Some epic tones, and great playing.
Nothing beats the classic rock tone, Gibson SG + Marshall = Rock N Roll Heaven.
Thanks!! I couldn’t agree more lol
Holy crap it sounds exactly like the album!
Tried my best! Thanks!
Nicely done.
C.O.D Cash on delivery! lol Awesome tones!
Thanks bud!!
Holy crap Ryley....sick as usual. Sounds amazing. Totally nailed the tone of those songs! I have a "real" Marshall 2203 as you know and curious to see if I can cop similar tones.
Thanks dude! They were using 2203’s for the album. Definitely had to chop off a bunch of high end frequencies, the guitars are very mid focused. Fat and chewy.
COD sounds amazing. one of my favourite tunes
Thanks Dan! Mine too.
Sounds great!
Sounds great 👍🏼
Cheers!!
Sounds great! Ive read that they were using g12-65 Celestions in the early 80s, but I can't imagine them straying from the old cabinets full of Greenbacks
They were indeed! Great contribution to that smoother tone from 1979-1981. The Ox doesn’t have a G12-65 412 model so trying to compensate with the EQ here for this example. They have since gone back to Greenback cabs for Angus, and V30 cabs for Mal/Stevie for live.
@@RockToneRevelry do you have a favorite album for the guitar tones? Mine is probably Powerage
@@CharlesWillisBonsai definitely! My favourite era is 1979-1981 ( HTH, BIB, FTATR) and have also always loved Stiff Upper Lip as well for tone.
Pretty much nailed that agression.. do you think AY played a 2203 on that album?..can the Dr. Dan when cranked with an SD-1 get some punishing thick 90's metal tones when puched with gifh output pups?..EMG's?.. awesome tone here.. FTATR was big and fat and in your face.. very good songs on this album..
Thanks man. Yes 2203’s on that album. The amp takes boosts and pedals amazingly, through your favourite grind box in front and it’ll slay.
The sound is incredible! And great playing too! People always talk about "AC/DC crunch" but it is only about Malcolm's guitar sound. This proves Angus has sound very far from the "crunch area", he has really saturated hi-gain sound.
Still not as much gain as you’d think, amp master was at 5 here, pre-amp was at 4, boosted with the Storm. This era of tone is a lot more “polished”, and very tapered off high end in general, fat and smooth! Thanks for watching and for the kind words!!
Sounds great!!🤘🏻 what amp settings did you used?

@@RockToneRevelry Thanks keep the videos coming love your tone man!!🤘🏻⚡️👍🏻😎
Huge compliment! Thanks!!@@TheresaFlyOnTheWall
Too much gain. Playing is great😊
