Interesting thoughts you shared. At 68, I guess I’ve died twice, creatively. At 50, I took a two year sabbatical from teaching and went back to school full time to get my MA in Studio Art. I wanted to break the surly bonds of what I had been doing since I got my BFA in photography at 22 (which was akin to street photography) and do something else. Fortunately for me, I was in a cohort of grad students who were working in painting, sculpture, ceramics, and multi-media. I was the only photographer. The dynamics of all these other processes, approaches, and dialog stirred my creative pot mightily. Which was exactly what I was seeking. To get out of that echo chamber of photography. Here, years later, and I unexpectedly and impulsively have taken a step to move away (to some degree) from what I’ve been doing since grad school. I got myself a Polaroid I-2. While I’m still in a learning mode, I really like that the photos I’m taking now look nothing like the work my usual suspects (Leica, Mamiya, Canon, Toyo) deliver. Everything about the camera and film is different. Again, exactly what I was seeking! Each journey in the creative process is a unique and personal one. For me, the essential quality is to have an open, inquisitive mind. May your journey be rich and stimulating, wherever it takes you!

Fortunately for me, I was in a cohort of grad students who were working in painting, sculpture, ceramics, and multi-media. I was the only photographer. I get it! High ISO films are the most fun but pricey
