I appreciate that, Austin!! Means a lot. I'll keep them coming ;)
Way better than the virtual box addition method and it worked perfectly. Great video
I wish i had seen this video before. Thanks bro
Excellent video 👍
What is distinct about this video compared to another is:
xrandr --output which flips the resolution real-time.
Kindest regards, neighbours.
Thanks
I'm facing 'Xrandr failed to get size of gamma for output' error. Pls help me 🥺
Just more broken linux... I'm so tired of everything in linux being busted by default.
@@ericneo2 did u find any solution
@@ali_linux5097 Yep, I dropped the distro like a brick and went back to ubuntu. From all the googling I did the only answer I could find was either the GPU or the XRANDR implementation was done incorrectly enforcing an unchangeable default value. Even if you manually created new configs with new values they would be ignored.
Thanks for the help ❤
bro i need help
i changed the resolution but the ratio is messed up can you help me
Someone liked but didn't gave the answer how can I fix it?🥲
What desktop (and distro) are you using at the beginning of the video?

is it solved.... ?
Yea any update
Solved my problem. I'm using a Lenovo Legion 5 15ITH6H with a Dual Boot with Windows 11. I only use Windows 11 to game, so I rarely get to Windows, but Windows seems to be killing my Ubuntu 22.04 LTS somehow, if that makes sense.
Not so long ago, I had a serious issue. Normally, I use my Ubuntu as a workspace so I connect an external display via HDMI, but when I game on Windows I normally don't use the other monitor since it's 60 HZ and it's junk compared to the built-in 165 Hz monitor of the laptop. But one day I got to Windows using both displays, and for whatever reason Windows made that "driver updated/installed" noise, but I ignored it and continued gaming. So when I got back to Ubuntu, the second monitor wasn't getting detected. I researched on AskUbuntu (I'm not a Linux pro, this is why I chose Ubuntu over other distros, because it has a huge community and it helps in this occasions) and I tried almost everything. I messed up real good, I followed an answer telling me to uninstall Intel drivers, so I did, and when I restarted the built-in display didn't even work and it only worked on the external monitor, but even then, WiFi wasn't working which was a big mess. Hopefully, I have an USB with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS in it with me so it wasn't a big problem to recover it.
However, it happened again about two weeks ago, same thing, got to Windows, you know the rest. This time, I didn't uninstall Intel drivers but I purged my Linux NVIDIA drivers so I could manually install an stable version that works for me (525.60.11). Everything got back as expected but I couldn't choose between 60 and 165 HZ anymore, which annoys me since Linux it's not really that battery-friendly with Laptops and I don't really care about the refresh rate if I can save some battery. I researched again and I found some post about modifying EDID on Windows, but I found that it was a bit overcomplicated, and at the end I found this video.
OSTechHelp video 'How to add custom screen resolution permanently on Ubuntu | Fix missing resolution in display Linux' did the trick for me to made it permanent again.
Thanks for sharing the exp
Virtual1 what is this mean???
Xrandr :cannot find output "Virtual1"
Plz help me come out this problem
For your it can be different type xrandr in terminal and see what is written to the left of connected display
Thanks this help with cutefish display settings not working im using rebornOS with the cutefish DE
Sir my is not selecting 1080p resolution please help me
Last step error in my desktop
xrandr: cannot find output "Virtual1"
Plz help me Plz Plz
Thats because your monitor is not Virtual1. Type in xrandr and it will give "display name" connected primary.
That display name is what you should type in when adding commands for output.
It really worked🎉🎉
what to do with ultrawide monitors, can I get 3440x1440 with 21:9 ratio. Currently my screen looks stretched….
I did this with Linux Mint and I got an "unknown display virtual 1" message in the top left, and I cannot get rid of it.
Well there are different names of displays
Some have hdmi some have vga some have virtual
So first do xrandr --verbose
Do it after --newmode
And you will see your display which you want to set and after that there will be some things like Vga-1 or smt smt
So that's your display type
Hence instead of write
Xrandr --addmode virtual1 1920*1080
You can do
Xrandr --addmode your display your resolution
It worked well in Arch based distros but in Parrot OS it mentioned CTRC
bro what should i do ...i am using linux mint ( mate ) latest ......... at commond -- /.profile its saying unknown....?
this is not working in my case .
1920*1080 is coming but it's not woking after a few second
what can i do
I have a question, my computer was running slower when i used linux than when i use windows, do you know why?
No idea. It could be a lot of things. Perhaps you have a NVidia graphics card and need to install the proprietary drivers.
@@SavvyNik ok, thanks
check the drivers
It depends on Kernel Type, Amount Of programs, Desktop Environment etc. When Windows was unable to move my PC linux revived it. Probably you may be using KDE plasma as desktop environment. Before Installing any Linux Distro, read System Requirements.
thank you very much
:)
Thanks Bro....😍😍
You're welcome!
TY! was stuck at 60hz with a 165 monitor

Nice video! I was hoping it would fix my problem, but it doesn't seem to. I could add the resolution just fine, but trying to change resolution at all just won't stick. I can select the resolution I want to use, I hit apply and for a brief second it changes resolution, then it just reverts back. Running Debian with KDE on VirtualBox. Any clue what might be wrong?
Of course I ended up finding the fix right after commenting. If anyone else stumbles over this, running KDE in a VM has a known issue where you're unable to change screen resolution. Disabling KScreen2 fixes the problem.
Help me im new to linux i installed Cutefish OS
i want to go to 720p but my it is on 1080p by default
after following the steps from the video

Hello i have out of range problem how can i fix?

Too much words. Trying to make the video as long as possible.
