Hi Larry! I thoroughly agree with you that Band on the Run is the better of the two albums, but only because of the barriers it broke as both a concept album and of course the hits included! However if there is a Wings album that sonically matches Band on the Run, it’s Venus & Mars! I listen to Venus & Mars much more these days than Band on the Run, as it has his most eclectic music ever! Spirits of Ancient Egypt, Love in Song, & You Gave Me the Answer are 3 such divergences! Then with Magneto & Titanium Man, he showed us that he could and can write about ANYTHING! Sonically the two albums are a near tie for me with Band on the Run winning by half a nose! Now as far as his solo stuff: The McCartney album and RAM beat both of those records in my opinion with Memory Almost Full & Tug of War nearly matching them as far as songs! Examples are Mr. Bellamy and House of Wax on Memory, and the songs Tug of War, Wanderlust, & Here Today off of Tug of War! I know, I know, too much info, but you always bring out the Mega-Macca-Fan in me! Love the white shirt BTW! That is the perfect kind of shirt for you! I feel a crush coming on!😉❤👌❤👍❤
I saw the photo of Paul in front of The Ryman Auditorium (Grand Old Opry) in the internet ages ago - I think it was a photo of this photo in the Venus And Mars box. It was the 1st McCartney to be issued on the Capitol Records label, rather than Apple, here in the USA. I suppose it was the same in Canada.
What a lovely channel Larry. Super relaxing and not only that. I’ve been listen to so many different bands I saw first time here so I’d say isn’t only relaxing but culture. Hugs from Brazil mate.
When Venus And Mars first came out Larry I actually preferred it to Band On The Run and in many ways I still do,I love the intro on the album and songs like Magneto And Titanium Man,it's a very good album, one of Paul's best in my opinion. Bob
While Band on the Run is a better album, l really like Venus and Mars also. I think it is Macca's second best album. I know a lot of fans are partial to Ram, but to me Ram is too inconsistent and, IMHO, Too Many People and 3 Legs are both overrated. Disc 2 on Venus and Mars I think is the best of the re-released deluxe albums bonus material. Much of the stuff on the bonus material is better than the album itself. Replacing Secrets of Ancient Egypt and Medicine Jar with Junior's Farm and Sally G would have made for a better album.
