I don't have pigs but I ferment grains for my goats, I also add a little apple cider vinegar to the water mix and sometimes molasses.

Great tip! We are now adding molasses to our ferment on someone’s suggestion and it’s working well!

@@ROCKPILEOffgridHomestead it's just amazing!! The wildfires are putting a bit of a wrench in our plans but we've got respirators - it slows us down a bit 😑 we are actually in a hotel at the moment because of the smoke.. But otherwise we are just great. We'll head back in a couple of days.

We use one of those pig nipples, though I think its larger! They must come in different sizings and our pigs are full grown. We have it hooked direct to an IBC with a tap fitting that is up slightly higher than the outlet. Our pigs have pulled it free multiple times lol, so you might find you need to really brace it, we ended up putting a hole through timber that goes either side of the roofing iron (the fence) so that they can't get a good grip on it and pull it off the hose! :D

How big is yours? The zip ties were temporary but the timber we’ve screwed it back to now seems to be holding up well 👍

The moment you put your hand in the grain gave me memories of being a kid and running my hands through the grain for the birds at my Grandparents farm. Funny the things that trigger memories.
    Great share as always guys.
    And a great date 😁

the Flexi hose only needs to be hand tight, like an oil filter. to tight can damage the rubber seal, thought having a son as a plumber something would of rubbed off on ya! haha

True but I did machine a nice radius on that end on the lathe so it’s as good as it will ever be .

OWWW! You got a new dump truck. Congratulations. How exciting. What a great capability to have on the homestead. I think a nice wide strip of old inner tube on the outside edges of you feed bin cutout might do the job if the inner tube lays flat. Miter the corners and pop rivet it to the lid and you should at least frustrate the little buggers. So how is that solar bore pump working for you? And how are the little piggies? Have you expanded their area to roam? Do you have oak trees in Australia? Since you are coming into fall, this would be a good time to pick acorns to start an tree nursery in a corner of your shade house. Acorn finished pigs are the bomb. Looking forward to your next video already!

Thanks mate 👍👍 the truck isn’t ours but we’ve got regular access to it if needed which is almost as good 😁 editing the next vid at the moment which will be is setting up the hot wire. Pigs have grown so much… can’t wait to publish that update!!

Hey guys, we are keen to see how the pigs go on the grain. We find our pigs go off things and we have had to change a few times. Right now we are cooking sorghum and giving sweet potatos which is going ok so far. Keep us posted how they go on the grain. We have been flat strap and falling behind keeping up with everyone here! 🙂
