I'm moving to Bellingham from San Diego soon from near one BC (Baja California) to near another (British Columbia). I've been looking forward to my return to the Pacific NW since after my years at McCord AFB in the 90's.
Someone asked me why I would want to leave San Diego. I've lived in desert like/mediterranean climate most of my life. Nothing wrong with it, it's just that prefer the lush greenery and vibe of the PNW! ✌🏼
I would ask the same question lol. i have family that moved up this way because they miss the seasons, and were tired of the heat and sun 24/7 (shocking i know). If you need any help up this way, feel free to reach out! Bellingham has changed but its even more beautiful than ever!

Sorry , I've lived here for many years and I wouldn't advise anyone to move here. We have been overwhelmed with transients, crime and homeless camps. The reason Lynden is becoming popular is because people are running from Bellingham. Stores are forced to lock up everything because of the theft. Do your research about this city before you move! I'm planning to get out myself , and I've been here since 1984.

Yes you can! What field are you in?
Depends on a lot of things. I'm a high school dropout but, have made a decent living working in warehouses but, in Bellingham they only want to pay you minimum wage or a little bit above for very hard work. I had a rough time were everywhere I've lived I've made more than I needed but, it's a beautiful place. If you have a degree or knew a trade something you'll be fine. I got a certification for a feild I ended up not liking but, it paid a lot. Just not for me
Yes, you can work in Bellingham. It's just extremely hard to live in Bellingham with the cost of living expenses.
Avoid the whole state if you cherish your money, sanity, and good looking people🥃

The cost of living doesn't fit the job infrastructure for their wages there, the cancer rates are also through the roof. My family has been there for close to 100 years, and we have seen the change, sadly is not what I grew up in. I realize things change and evolve. But I'm just going to say it how it is the rich Californian's retirees and Canadians have messed up this town and continue to flood in ruining it.
I love the area & you cannot beat the beauty and the sunsets in the fall in your own backyard. Mountains and the Bay.
@@patrickhaug1157 I'm a veteran that's being pushed out of California because I can't afford to live here. I don't want to be on welfare just to stay, so out I go! Not all of us moving are rich.
I'm also sorry to hear about what's happening in Bellingham. I hope that things will get better there in time. Voting out the bad apples in office there would be a start! 👍🏼

I'm merely talking about the rich ones, I have family in Hacienda Heights and friends in Gardena that are not rich!. Idk the attitudes are different, but merely the rich retirees and yes the rich Canadians come down and invest too. I remember Bellingham since I was little and have watched the significant amount of changes over the years and Bellingham culture change with it. The population growth in the last twenty years and woods I use to run around and play in are now built over. And yes I do agree it is cheaper then San Diego to your comment above. Some of us that were born in the early 1980's and earlier remember a different time and do not like the " Californication" that has taken over the area.

I remember hearing some New Yorker complaining that Balboa Park in San Diego should look like Central Park. Why? Our park is perfect as it is. There's a historical reason why it looks as it does.
Why do people move from places that they claim to hate, only to turn the place that they moved to into their former place that they hated?! 🤦🏽♀️
I've always loved the west, from Alaska on down to Cali, including Hawaii. I call these places my stomping grounds, lol. And I would like people to preserve these places as much as possible and not cater to wealthy individuals or corporations.
I see all the new construction going on in Bellingham and it makes me sad because of the lost of flora and fauna. I don't want Bellingham to become part a Megalopolis! 😬
Healthcare is terrible here. You will need to see specialists in Seattle.
That's not true bellingham has some of the best doctors in the state.....
Especially when it comes to heart doctors........
Ill take Bellingham over where i used to live ...Vancouver, WA / Portland, OR . Bellingham is heaven compared to that area!

[UA-camrs, please note: Imposing background music over your talk is the bane of people with impaired hearing--it renders the speech difficult to decipher. (I am not hearing impaired, by the way.)]
why bother with the traffic which can change any minute with an accident!! Setting expecations isone thing but spending 10 minutes on traffic is is the 10 minutes of my life I will not get back! Focus on neighborhoods and housing information.

@@livinginbellinghamwa1 Compass Realty has a nice map of the nighborhoods. If I were in your shoes, I would use that map to cover the Real Estate market in town. But they might not like it!

Yet another Saturday about to help another friend who has sold their house move out into the county. Apparently tent cities and meth heads flattening their junk up against the window of the restaurant you're eating in has consequences, lol!

Not to mention all the street people other cities and states are shipping to each other, including here. All of this anarchy, the fault of the idiotic Democratic Party.
