I was stationed with the German Air Force at Holloman AFB from 1996-1999 and lived in Alamogordo. It was the best time of my life and I still have New Mexico in my heart ♥.

Nice day Rusty! Thanks for filming these scenic drives. Your camera technique is smooth, and the picture quality is very good. Keep them coming, please.
Rusty, I grew up in El Paso and went to Alamogordo, Cloudcroft and Las Cruces often. I live in Austin, Texas now and have for many years. I miss the desert and enjoy seeing the drive. Thank you.
Rusty, I was stationed at Holloman AFB from 1977-1980 and lived in Alamogordo. Enjoyed living off base and it looks different than it did then, of course it has been around 45 years. Went up to Cloudcroft often. Enjoy watching your driving videos, brings back memories. Thanks! By the way, been watching your channel for a long time.
I am like you, I have always liked New Mexico. Tiny home community in a small town outside Lubbock. Didnt know if you had been there? Great drive. 👍👍😎🇺🇸
I have a cousin who lives in Alamogordo. My husband and I used to go through there when we drove a truck to El Paso. Loved to stop at an old truck stop and get a huge breakfast burrito for $3.
Went to Alamogordo July the 4th weekend. On my way back to Austin, I drove by Capitan. I was hoping you'd be out there drinking your tonic but since no one was there I just drove by. Beautiful neighborhood!
I believe that having a sticks and bricks house just wasn't meant for you at least right now. You seem to be more happy when your on the road seeing these scenic places. What better way to see em' than to take your home on the road with you wherever you go. FREEDOM!!!
Great driving video Rusty. Last time I was in Alamogordo, it was raining, sleeting and snowing all at the same time. We were at the Air and Space museum. It was late November. Take care and have a great day 👍
I Went Down to the Arcade at Gold Mine and Jolt (The Home of the Old School Classic Arcade Video Games) at the Great White Sands Mall Back in Alamogordo, New Mexico during My Trip for Visiting Grandma Loni Only Back in Years Ago
Hey Rusty, Just a little info for you..... Here in Milan/Grants NM, there is a tiny home manufacturer with about 25 on display. They've got 2 or3 lines building right there..... Thought you might be interested.....
On the subject notebooks - they are really cheap in late July/Aug -- I stock up on them for the whole year. The rest of the year they can be greater than $1. I love them for notes.
Rusty, do you have a desire to visit the Eastern part of the country, or Northwestern part of the country. Or do you think the country in general is too screwed up to venture out that far? I myself am afraid of venturing to far away from my vicinity. But there are a lot of beautiful places I would love to visit.
Alamogordo was home to Col. DR John Stapp. He established and proved the principle of Murphy's Law. He is credited with creating Stapp's Law (or Stapp's Ironic Paradox) ; "The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle. He was a man who did deadly serious work bit never expected someone to take a risk he would not And he had a great sense of humor.
Lifelong Alamogordo resident here. That old shopping center at the end of the video was the old Wal-Mart. It closed of course when they opened the Super Wal-Mart further in town around twenty years ago.
I lived there many yrs. Ago..I had a few veggies. but mostly flowers..had shade cloth canopy over on hot days..you are on a strict watering schedule..we had a very small patch of grass for 2 dogs..desert plants and trees ..late husband and I loved that area. Lots of exploring..a lot of day trips..
Hello from Germany. That looks really nice, that would really be a place where I would like to live at the age of 34 :) What about jobs in this place or around it? How is the housing market or could you even build something new? Please excuse my great curiosity :) My Neighbor was a German Soldier in Alamogordo Holoman and approached me when he told me how much nicer it is than here and what can I say, what I see and hear is probably true, especially from the weather and the wide freedom :)
Is it a boomer generation thing to say things the wrong way and then correct yourself? Like how you did with scenic? I've heard others your age do it. Was it from a radio or TV show? Also please ask a local how to pronounce Las Cruces. It's not "crew-shush". It's "crew-suhs"

Aww, makes me so homesick! I'm from Tularosa but spent a lot of time in Alamo. I live in Florida now but i go home twice a year.

Scenic drive through Rusty💞☕
Awesome views from the space museum. Gain in altitude from a Alamogordo to Cloudcroft is 4300 ft. in only 19 miles!
Rusty, thks for the video, I lived in Alamogordo 82-92. The bypass was not even built. What a change!! Thanks for the memories.

Rusty, I enjoy watching the driving videos in my smoking jacket, drinking a six pack of bud light and a big blunt of weed
Hello Rusty.
Very pleasant beautiful scenic
drive and share. Enjoy 🏜️
Just remember, if you come to a fork in the road......stop, pick it up, and clean it up. You never know when you might need some extra silverware!
Beautiful sky. Nice day for a drive too. I am glad u came back here. Thanks for sharing.
Just remember, if you come to a fork in the road...........take it!

Welcome to our fair city Rusty! Yes the weather is milder than my hometown Odessa, TX. Never hits 109° in the summer or 16° in the winter like Odessa.
Great drive! 🌻🌻🌻
Enjoy Rusty it's your life . Your the driver were just passengers watching

Those burritos are $7 now.
I know they would have gone up. This was back in 97. Lol. Is it a Texaco. I can't remember.
Driving video very nice
Thanks for sharing the spectacular scenic view ! Rusty !

As I recall that large empty building at the end of the video used to be a Walmart if I am not mistaken.

❤
Stop signs are for stopping. If caught by the local S/O or Police it's a $80.00 ticket!
Good morning.
Morning
Cool video talk Rusty lol

I just travel by impulse...no real plan...
Cannot imagine any sane person even thinking about travelling to those parts of the country, has nothing to do with the distance or scenery.

Very interesting... thanks 👍
I managed Oliver Lee State Park for 15 years before I retired. I sure miss this area!

Looks like a nice drive rusty ?
Could you have a garden in that area?
I lived there many yrs. Ago..I had a few veggies.

@@rusty78609 Can you answer my questions about working in Alamogordo? :)
banana
It all looks the same. How wretched!
he said hes driving around alamo but he only took off ramps and back streets 😑
he's a strange dude

Also please ask a local how to pronounce Las Cruces. It's not "crew-shush". It's "crew-suhs"
It's pronounced how ever he wants to say it!
Don't think most people care what you call it just so you buy something there 😁😉
