22 year old female (hiding behind disgruntled Ben Affleck) here. I just found your channel a couple of days ago and have already binge watched most of your videos. You guys have fantastic content and personalities, I've learned way more about Whiskey than I ever thought possible. Most of my friends I typically drink with stick to Jack Daniels or Fireball, but after learning so much I've realized how much I've missed out on. I'm going to drop some serious knowledge & good drinks at any party I attend from now on. Big thanks to you guys and all that you do, cheers!
The magic trick to this is to never share where you got this information. Simply walk into the room, drop serious whisky knowledge, and mic drop your way out. Bam.
Daniel, Rex, glad you guys enjoy the Rabbit Hole! I hope that you find the sample box sent out Monday as equally enjoyable. Daniel all cleaned up and rocking a kilt, Rex in his Forrest Gump blue jeans with his hat hanging from a belt loop, I wonder who wore it better?
Wow, thanks for the toast, the reading of my comment and the advice on the blend! Now I'm on the hunt for Caol Ila. I've not had an Islay whisky yet, so this should be fun. Thanks again!
Hello everyone. I've never had whiskey. I hate black coffee and love sweets and spiced beverages. What do you recommend??? Preferably something that does not have an overwhelming alcohol taste. Thank you for your time!
Update on the Scotland trip. I'm in Edinburgh right now and there is a whiskey bar called the Abernauch right next to my hostel they have over 250 single malts, I just had Ardbeg dark cove (after seeing how much you guys enjoyed it I had to try, it was excellent) and I had the dalmore cigar malt (also excellent) I'm here for one more night and need some recommendations on malts to try. I was thinking of trying the octomore 7.1 cask strength. Any recommendations are welcome and I'll let you all know how they are.
Fairly recent subscriber, first time commenter. Had to chime in and say I love the content and the community you're building here. It's something special for sure, keep it up!
Rabbit Hole is coincidentally the name of my favorite local dive bar. I already messaged the owner that he needs to add this to the whisky list. Would be great if you guys would compare it to the Angels Envy. Keep them videos coming!!!
hey guy's! i've only started drinking and enjoying whisky since a few months. i myself am 21 years old and recently bought a KNOCKANDO 21 YEARS 1994 OLD MASTER RESERVE SINGLE MALT because it's the same age as me. will you guys please review it? greetings from belgium! -Chiel Maes
So, I decided to buy some whiskey and after watching several of your videos I bought angel's envy and The Glenlivet single malt scotch. I got a compliment on the angels envy.
I lived in London where they called cookies biscuits. Now I live in The Netherlands where they call cookies koekjes. But I was raised in Texas where a cookie is a cookie and a biscuit is an mother truckin biscuit!
Daniel you doing the Master of Malt 2017 Advent Calendar this year? I know the list was released and similar to last year. Would you recommend this. And I saw that they allow you to make your own calendar and choosing basically any samples available!
Sounds like Rabbit Hole is aiming for the market spot that Woodford is in. Well rounded and smooth, nothing in the offensive flavoring to appeal to the masses, and a price point above entry but not super high...how close are their flavor profiles?
I am in Louisville for work and the bartender recommended this last night...i freaking loved it. I actually kind of reminded me of Angel's Envy 2014...
D Oliver Go hit up Side Bar downtown. Great food and amazing bourbon selection. They have a surprising amount of scotch too. Get the nachos. They use beer cheese. It's amazing.
I have a question for the guys or the community, I've been trying a few different bourbons lately and keep finding a "bubblegum" flavor. It varies from Big Red to Bazooka to Juicy Fruit. What is this?! Clearly my brain isn't separating a sugar and fruit flavor I can't identify and my taste "vocabulary" is too limited to nail down what it is. Keep up the great work! Love this show and the growing community.
I love this channel. I've only been onto it for a few days but it's the best whisky review site on the Web. I'm going to the Liverpool Whisky festival on the 23rd of September and would love a few speyside recommendations.
After watching these videos I feel kinda(very) guilty for drinking whiskey with coke... I don't even want to but ice in it anymore. And this is only after watching your videos for few days now. You are making the world a better place, thank you!
Superb video as always ! Recommendation for the next video , try comparing Lavagulin 16 and Bowmore 18 , yes they're different , but both are smoky and that's their speciality so it would be interesting to see which one you prefer , thanks !
New to the channel, and I love the reviews so far! I'm new to whiskey, though I found monkey shoulder and absolutely loved it! Though with that being said.. which whiskey should I try next?
I love the whiskey advent calender. 2017 will be year 2 for me. The small bottles work amazing to get a good tester. Is there anything else that is like this. That way i do not have to mooch super expensive drams.
Hi Daniel and Rex! I've discovered this channel only recently and I'm really enjoying the content. I've never actually had whiskey (I feel like I ruined it for myself when I tried to drink Jack Daniels as a teenager, and I'm not a big fan of hard liquor) but your videos made me very curious to give it a try. I've also watched the video with top 10 whiskeys for beginners and it's my favourite so far, I think I'll start from there. A friend of mine suggested trying the Balvenie DoubleWood 12 but I'm scared to purchase a bottle of anything without trying it first. Anyway, I just want to say thanks for making videos, I think your content is great, I could listen to you talk about whiskey all day. I'm really excited to try some of it myself, I feel like it's a whole world I'm missing out on. Looking forward to more videos, keep up the good work! :)
I just got my package of 10 drams from Masters of Malt in the mail, my Glencairns arrived and I just finished a major project and got a few days off. Time to start the adventures of the Whiskey Noob.
Hey guys loving the videos! I'm currently a broke student right now from Wales, in the UK can you suggest any really good cheaper whiskies for me? Plus could you do a review of Penderyn our only Welsh whiskey.
Daniel even though i did refer to you as a girl scout in previous comment. I do appreciate the kilt. I as a proud american have ancestors from the highland clan of the O'donalds and have proundly worn my kilt. Looks great..way to share the heritage.
Hey there fellas, just found your channel. Not really a whiskey kind of guy, I prefer my rum and my gins, but a bottle of Jameson can never do too much harm.
I am enjoying a bottle of rabbit hole bourbon whisky as I watch this, all I know is I am a customer for life! I truly enjoyed this whisky and I highly recommend it, the aroma and taste is worth every penny! This will be my whisky go to from now on! I will definitely make it a must to go and see the distillery as soon as possible.
Love the videos guys. I'm coming home from a deployment here in a few weeks, and would love to have a suggestion on my first whisky to kick back and relax with once I get back. Biscuits aren't the same as cookies, go America.
Two things. First: The Talisker Dark Storm I promised you guys ended up in a bin at the airport because it wasn't in a properly sealed container. The bastards. Second: Mooch story! I am at Vegas right now, and ordered a Macallan 12 to help with digestion of the Ramsay burger. They brought it, I sip it and freeze. I am no whiskey expert, but this had to be Talisker. No way Macallan is this sharp. I call the bartender, he starts to apologise. They mixed up orders with another table. They gave me Talisker 10. He brought me back the Macallan and was about to take the Talisker away. I couldn't let it go down the drain, so I stop him and get two for price of one. And then the waiter comes again, and brings me Angel's Envy, a gift from the other guy who got the bad order. As thanks for catching it. And that is how I got 3 for 1, and thus became Moochster myself.
*Biscuit Blends* American Biscuit: Hakushu and Aberfeldy Shortbread Biscuit: Jameson Caskmates and Redbreast I'm going 1/1 right now, but I'm going to try to dial it in more.
okay so ive heard you and other say that an open bottle less then a quarter full needs to be finished quick but half full or more will last years. is it true you can use wine preservers to prevent a whiskey from oxidizing? ive also heard you can decant into smaller bottles, is this true? i also know someone who uses some thing to remove air from bottles. basically what i want to know are there any negative side effects to using any of these methods? is there a best practice for trying to preserve rare whiskey thats been opened? or any whiskey for that matter? cause every so often i come across some pretty rare bottles and i was thinking if i ever dropped money on one or am gifted another whats the best way to preserve them if say i wanted to keep it only for special occasions.
Ok so this bottle of Knappogue Castle in the backgroud has been annoying me for quite some time. I managed to buy one of the last bottles of the province and 20$cheaper than I was expecting to pay. I would really like to see you guys review it so that I know if I got a good deal or I got ripped off! Thank you very much!
So first off I have to say I am only 19. But in my first class in college, to get my culinary arts degree, I had to taste. Over 100 different alcoholic drinks in 2 weeks. And after all of the beer, wine, whisky etc. the only thing I remotely enjoyed was the whisky. But since I do not drink I can't quite handle much harshness. So when I turn 21 what whisky would you suggest? Also this is my first time commenting
Have you guys tried the Rabbit Hole Bourbon finished in Sherry Casks? I am really interested in it compared to Angel's Envy and other bourbons finished in port/wine casks.
Always wanting to learn more and more about Maker's Mark. Was surprised when some peeps were saying it's average or something? I think it's better than other popular names. Or, I just like it haha. Wish there was a video from Whiskey Vault reviewing Maker's because I really like how educated and experienced you guys are.
I only started really tasting whisky (I used to just knock 'me back) out of the five I've tried since finding your channel, basic Jameson, Glenlivet 12, Glenlivet Founders Reserve, Chivas 12 and Bowmore 12, the Bowmore is the fav at this moment. Next on the list is Glenfiddich and Johnnie Walker black 12. Whiskey is expensive in Quebec!
Hey guys fourth time commenting and now i got a whisky story. Over the last couple days i had the oppertunity to go on a buisness trip where all expensess where paid by the company and so we went out as group to a bar so i saw this as an oppertunity to try out some free scotch so i had my first experience of Glenlivet 12, Mcallan 12 and Glenmorangie 10. Got say i loved all 3 i was supprised in my short time with whisky i was able to pull out some differences between all 3. Looking forward to getting some of my own in the near future.
I didn't know what you meant by round until I tasted Rabbit Hole bourbon. It is an easy, smooth sipper and it is nice. Rabbit Hole is for Friday evenings after work with friends... with a designated driver.
When my Laphroaig gets below a half or a third instead of trying to drink it real fast before it oxidizes I blend it with Ardmore legacy or Speyburn, etc at that 2:1 ratio etc and it tastes fantastic
When I first heard Rex say “biscuit” I thought of the food in the professional photo taped to the door. But then I thought, “how long was Rex out in the Texas sun that he’s tasting that in whisky?” When Daniel clarified the term biscuit, it all made sense. I side with the hobbit. Keep the videos coming. My whisky cabinet is full and my bank account is empty because of your incredibly entertaining channel. Sláinte! 🥃
Hey boys! I love your videos a lot. Since I've discovered your channel I've been watching your videos every single day. I was wondering if it would be possible to do a video on how to make home made blends for beginners? I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one interested, if it isn't super simple. I'm sure there's more to it than just pouring a bunch of liquids together and then drinking it after 5 minutes hahaha
I also support this idea. It would be really cool to do it on camera and then crack it open a year later or so. Also, it's something I want to try someday.
Whiskey Vault Haha, right? They really should considering all the water fountains in KY dispense 4yo straight bourbon. Even in elementary schools! They're pretty hard core about it out there.
you dont have to be challenged to enjoy , no sin . Great episode guys. Damn Straight Rex we won the wars , Hand over your sword and say it Cornwallis, this is a Biscuit that is a cookie, SAY COOKIE, SAY IT SAY IT !! #YORKTOWN ~Sam Kinison~ voice
Scones, American biscuits, and shortcakes (like strawberry shortcake) are all culinary cousins that use the "blend-mix method". The only difference is maybe tweaking the baking soda, adding sugar, changing the fat. Otherwise, they are very similar, just like polenta and grits ... which that case it's even worse because, whether you are American Southern or Italian, one is heritage and the other is heresy
The tartan suits you well, Daniel ! I like your funny and very interesting revues on whiskey. I enjoy particularly the way you joke against together. Cheers from France (scuse my English). Bulleit rocks ! (you helped made me to discover it .)
As a Canadian-born dude (born in Halifax actually) living in Texas, y'all are awesome. I would love to see more Canadian whiskeys so I can get an idea of what's the best to taste from my homeland. I know you have a strong disappointment with Canadian whiskey, but I figured you would know the best either way. I've already got glen breton on my list, but more would be appreciated.
I love your videos guys since I started wacting your videos got more intrested in learning more about whisk(e)y and trying more whiskeys as well and I was wondering if you guys can do Jim Beam devils cut... btw I am on team Rex with the bisket wars
Hey Guys: According to the American English dictionary Merriam-Webster, a cookie is a "small flat or slightly raised cake". A biscuit is "any of various hard or crisp dry baked product" similar to the American English terms cracker or cookie, or "a small quick bread made from dough that has been rolled out and cut or dropped from a spoon". So, when having whisky: meaning 1. When having grits: meaning 2. Cheers!
There was a young Scotsman named Jock, Who thought that he knew how to rock. As he twisted with flair, His kilt flew in the air, And the girls all passed out with the shock! There was a young poet named Dan, Whose poetry never would scan. When told this was so, He said, "Yes, I know, It's because I try to put every possible syllable into that last line that I can." Said an unashamed satyr named Rex, Unabashedly showing his sex: "My bollocks are brimmin', I hanker for wimmen--- This display better have some effects!" Loved the left handed golf joke too!
Hey Guys I have sent you two samples of the Glenfarclas 40, i hope you receive them soon. I'm going to be sitting down with my friend Andy Carr to celebrate our 40th birthdays on Saturday September 23rd, I hope you enjoy the samples and have a drink with us, maybe talk about how whisky changes with age Regarding the live show, I went to our local bottle shop, as I live in a small country town in Queensland Australia, which I will refer to as Bumfucknowhere, but it's official name is Dysart. Given the fact that Bumfucknowhere has one pub, The Jolly Colllier (it's a coal mining town and our pub is a pun), the limited stock is probably a good example of big brands that are available anywhere, see below a full list Jim Beam Jim Beam Black Jim Beam Devils Cut Jim Beam Honey Jack Daniels Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey Gentlemen Jack Woodstock Makers Mark Wild Turkey Wild Turkey 101 Wild Turkey American Honey Glenfiddich 12 Tullamore Dew Jameson McCallum Grants Teachers Ballantines Black Douglas 12 Johhn Walker Red Johhny Walker Black Chivas Regal My five would be Jim Beam Jack Daniels Glenfiddich 12 Jameson Johnny Walker Black P.S 1pm Saturday Austin time, is 3am Bumfucknowhere time, So I need to get up and start drinking Whisky waaaaaaay before breakfast. Slangavar Liam
ACTUALLY *pushes glasses up bridge of nose* half of a bottle relative to one third of a bottle blended is a 3:2 ratio, not 2:1 (375mL to 250mL) I need to get out more
I'd love to hear you guys argue about this: in terms of complexity, how would you rank the most popular (ie most avaliable) whiskys from an certain area, for instance highland?
OK, so this is the last time weigh in on the Biscuit/Cookie argument. Declaration...I'm an Aussie. Here, I can enjoy a shortbread biscuit but I can also enjoy a chocolate chip cookie. Do Cookies in the USA need to be circular? Daniel, if you give Rex a rectangular shortbread, does he still call it a cookie?
Dudes, I looked for all kinds of ways to bring whiskey down (I have one I really like and I'm pretty sure you haven't had), but I'm flying and it's just not workable. I even considered driving until I realized it was 14 hours. I'll figure something out, though.
I toured the Rabbit Hole Distillery this past Saturday because they have a late, 7 o'clock tour and a Taylor Swift lookalike who teaches middle school science who was charming and knowledgable presented us a sampling before giving the tour had us try four nice sized samples including their remarkable gin that they produce. I highly recommend it, but book at least a couple weeks in advance.
Rex hush, Daniel is in the right with this war. A true biscuit does not have cold butter cut into the flour, instead it has soft butter folded into it. Taking this further to step on you moochness a bit, what you call a biscuit can and is used as pie dough with the addition of some simple spices and sugar then rolled thin. As a former chef of 11 years I say your argument doesn't hold cheap rail spirits.
Hey guys :) I think I started watching this channel when I was 16, and stopped when I was 18 or 19. I even supported on patreon for a year or two. Though there was a time, I watched every Vault and Tribe video, I could never try the whiskey with you guys. I turned 21 in October and soon after had to stop supporting because school is expensive and I hadn't even been watching videos. I sat down tonight because I had kung fu'd some bulleit and wanted to watch any videos of you also drinking some. Around 10:44 , "we have a barrel somewhere" made me laugh out loud :) As if it's difficult to find a barrel today. It's truly impressive how far you've come. :))
Biscuitgate all breaks down to context. Two people in Texas talking about biscuit means biscuits. Flaky buttery good with sausage gravy biscuits. Not a cookie. Rex is right. I say that as a person who wants Daniel to ramble on about obscure trivia and minutiae. But I have to side with Rex against a self styled turncoat and apparently a legit Viking.
Well since you changed the name from whiskey biscuits to Whiskey Vault should we argue is the vault the ceiling on the tower or is the vault where you keep the whiskey? #vaultwars
I agree that the Rabbithole website is awesome... but when the locator results say the closest bar or retail store with it is 484.6 miles away... because that 6/10 is important... it's less awesome.
This comment may never be seen by you guys but never the less you guys should do a whiskey and cigar pairing with Rabbit Hole and Diesel Whiskey Row cigar. Diesel used rabbit hole barrels and aged their binder in them.
"The Mooch" that joke was told so well... you should try stand-up. Watch Seinfeld's latest special on Netflix where he tells of how he got his start. Your delivery is so smooth I think you should give it a try. I think you're a natural...
we hide a subliminal message in the video signal. at phase 2, you'll feel an overwhelming urge empty your bank account, buy piles of whiskey, and ship them all to us.
Let's settle this; from the etymology section of the "Biscuit" Wikipedia page: "The Old French word bescuit is derived from the Latin words bis (twice) and coquere, coctus (to cook, cooked), and, hence, means "twice-cooked". This is because biscuits were originally cooked in a twofold process: first baked, and then dried out in a slow oven. This term was then adapted into English in the 14th century during the Middle Ages, in the Middle English word bisquite, to represent a hard, twice-baked product.[7] The Dutch language from around 1703 had adopted the word koekje ("little cake") to have a similar meaning for a similar hard, baked product.[8] The difference between the secondary Dutch word and that of Latin origin is that, whereas the koekje is a cake that rises during baking, the biscuit, which has no raising agent, in general does not". This actually means, that the original meaning of the word cookie, is a "cake that rises during baking" (such as the american biscuits). This leads us to the inevitable conclusion, that the american biscuit is closer to being a cookie than a biscuit, and the english version therefore also must be considered (and hailed) as the only true type of biscuit! Checkmate you bastards! ;)
Hi Daniel & Rex, firstly I've spent almost my entire life within sight of the Midleton Distillery and naturally I have a great love of the amazing whiskey made on my doorstep. Like you, Redbreast & Green Spot would be among my favourites but there are so many amazing Irish whiskeys out there. I also love Scotch, be it light & blended or single malt reeking of Islay turf... BUT... I DO NOT GET BOURBOUN. To be fair, I have never tried top shelf bourboun but still, I have never tasted one I liked & entry level Irish or scotch can be amazing. On your recommendation I bought Bulleit Bourboun and for the life of me I cannot understand why anyone would choose this over a bottle of scotch or Irish? I do not have a sommelier's palate but the main tasting note I get is disappointment. I tried it neat, on the rocks and drowned in Coke and even then as I take that tiny inhale before each sip all I taste is regret. For similar money I could have bought a Black Barrel or a Caskmates Stout edition. What am I missing and can you please do a bourboun for dummies type video? PS whoever described you as "a Buddhist & a homeless man discussing whiskey" is a genius. :)
How in the holy hell do you all spot those sparkles so easily?!?!? Side note... Tried a bourbon called Town Branch. There was a flavor I couldn't place... kind of a mid note that seemed... earthy? Moldy? Not overpowering and I couldn't place it... but then I tried a sip after a very sweet hard candy and that subtle note was suddenly overpowering, and very unpleasant. Could it be a sour note I just can't characterize well? I don't even want to finish the bottle now. Next night i had my Angel's Envy and it was just so glorius.... So for $50 would you go Rabbithole or Angel's Envy?
Does the whisky marketing plan on seeking approval to be able to use the GI bill(veterans education benefits)to pay for tuition? I know one of the requirements to get approved for that is to have been in operation for 2 years, which I don't think it has yet. I don't have $4000 laying around to take the intro class, but if the GI bill payed for it I'd be all over it.
We have a rule that we accept "alumni" pricing for all veterans. That's regardless of whether the GI bill would cover (which I doubt). Shoot me an email. daniel at whiskymarketing dot org
One of the requirements to get approval is that the program would have to give "a certificate of training with a clear vocational objective or purpose." Basically meaning you'd have to prove your program would help people get a job, a lot of schools struggle with this. It's great to hear that you offer better pricing for veterans. I'll still have to work a couple months of overtime at work, but it's much more attainable.
If you look up ships biscuits you will see why American biscuits are called biscuits. They are the same general size, shape, and ingredients. Flour, lard (butter) and milk or water. They simply cooked them till all the moisture was out and they were flat as roofing tiles ... thus easy to ship. We made the same thing, called it the same thing, and just ate them hot out the oven. And still, do to this day. Or ... if you go back far enough, we too made them hard as bricks for travel. The wagon settlers to ... *cough* Texas *cough* ... carried barrels of them along. bought from the same English suppliers that made them for ships. It was easier to transport than flour that could get ruined. Now biscuits and gravy comes from not wanting to waste anything that could be turned into food. Not even greasy oil in a pan from frying sausage or bacon. Frugal food for a hungry people not sure where their next meal was coming from. M.S.Tarot

Awesome! I'm just getting into whisk(e)y, and I looooooove Chivas Regal 12 Year Old. What do you guys think?
Dig it!
Fantastic, I was pretty sure I had found the good stuff. The rich vanilla and smoke... *drools*
hey guy's! i've only started drinking and enjoying whisky since a few months. i myself am 21 years old and recently bought a KNOCKANDO 21 YEARS 1994 OLD MASTER RESERVE SINGLE MALT because it's the same age as me. will you guys please review it?

Heck yes! Definitely do it.

Jordan Peters ill def check it out...we went to Down One last night, best grits ive ever had!
D Oliver Wild Eggs is a great breakfast/brunch place.
Enjoy side bar! I might just have to go get some nachos tonight myself.
Do you think there is a possibility of the price coming down on this when they get the distillery finished and start pumping out larger quantities?
One can only hope!
Love this show and the growing community.
daniel gets bubblegum more often than me. I usually get a sweetened cherry flavor, which could definitely be a cousin to the bubblegum you're getting.
I love this channel. I've only been onto it for a few days but it's the best whisky review site on the Web. I'm going to the Liverpool Whisky festival on the 23rd of September and would love a few speyside recommendations.

Are you guys still doing the Blendageddons with all the unused whiskey in the classes? If so have any two of them tasted the same?
We only just tried this with one. But in the next two weeks, we'll end up with three. It's going to be amazing!
New to the channel, and I love the reviews so far! I'm new to whiskey, though I found monkey shoulder and absolutely loved it! Though with that being said.. which whiskey should I try next?

I just got my package of 10 drams from Masters of Malt in the mail, my Glencairns arrived and I just finished a major project and got a few days off. Time to start the adventures of the Whiskey Noob.
thats awesome, felix. You'll have to let us know which ones are your favorites.
Felix i as well am starting my path as whisky noob but have yet to get myself a set of glencairns'.
Hey guys loving the videos! I'm currently a broke student right now from Wales, in the UK can you suggest any really good cheaper whiskies for me? Plus could you do a review of Penderyn our only Welsh whiskey.
Penderyn is decent!
Daniel even though i did refer to you as a girl scout in previous comment. I do appreciate the kilt. I as a proud american have ancestors from the highland clan of the O'donalds and have proundly worn my kilt. Looks great..way to share the heritage.
The girl scout comment was freaking awesome. We laughed about it at lunch today as well :-)
Hey there fellas, just found your channel.
Eagle Rare.
Holy crap. Several amazing things about this. Great recognition of whisky and kickass mooching.
*Biscuit Blends*
American Biscuit: Hakushu and Aberfeldy
Shortbread Biscuit: Jameson Caskmates and Redbreast
I'm going 1/1 right now, but I'm going to try to dial it in more.
I'm am gonna try the caskmate redbreast blend.
trinityzaku please do. I need others' opinions. I've been in front of the flavors too long and I'm getting fatigued. Let me know your thoughts!
okay so ive heard you and other say that an open bottle less then a quarter full needs to be finished quick but half full or more will last years. is it true you can use wine preservers to prevent a whiskey from oxidizing? ive also heard you can decant into smaller bottles, is this true? i also know someone who uses some thing to remove air from bottles.
basically what i want to know are there any negative side effects to using any of these methods? is there a best practice for trying to preserve rare whiskey thats been opened? or any whiskey for that matter? cause every so often i come across some pretty rare bottles and i was thinking if i ever dropped money on one or am gifted another whats the best way to preserve them if say i wanted to keep it only for special occasions.
Smooth=boring in reference to Biscuts and I'm not quite sure what a ruff cookie is...
But I like it??
Ok so this bottle of Knappogue Castle in the backgroud has been annoying me for quite some time. I managed to buy one of the last bottles of the province and 20$cheaper than I was expecting to pay. I would really like to see you guys review it so that I know if I got a good deal or I got ripped off!
Thank you very much!
We'll do videos on it soon!
The best is to find our top 10 for beginners video. Or, honestly, google is freaking awesome at good top 10 lists :-)
Love the kilt but with BOURBON - why didn't you wear it for SCOTCH ???
I'm an equal opportunity kilt wearer. Plus, we shoot 4 at a time.
Do you guys recommend getting miniatures to try a lot of different kinds of whiskey or is it not enough to get the full experince.
yes, definitely. unless you're trying to build a collection, a small sample is better than rolling the dice on a full bottle that you may not like.
Rex thank you
Wasn't there supposed to be a new batch of Blendageddon soon?
if there aren't any surprises, we should have Blendageddon 2.0 after the next sommelier classes are wrapped.
I think you guys forgot to mention the list of whiskeys for Saturday? Is that still on?
I think we make the announcement tomorrow. I'll check to make sure.
Oh goodness. Hearing the talk about this bourbon and it's history and everything, makes me say, I wanna try that haha XD
Doing it soon!
Whiskey Vault
Epiiic(!) Looking forward(!)
Daniel, I find that my Scotch always tastes better when I'm wearing my kilt! Way to go!
And eating haggis, that's the life!
Just started watching a month ago, binged watched all your episodes. Congrats on the 23k plus subs guys!
thanks for watching and double thanks for being here. do you have a favorite whisk(e)y?
I only started really tasting whisky (I used to just knock 'me back) out of the five I've tried since finding your channel, basic Jameson, Glenlivet 12, Glenlivet Founders Reserve, Chivas 12 and Bowmore 12, the Bowmore is the fav at this moment. Next on the list is Glenfiddich and Johnnie Walker black 12. Whiskey is expensive in Quebec!
I swear you guys were at 14k yesterday, did you just get 50% growth overnight?! That's awesome, the more people know about you guys the better!
thesherbet, it was the cardboard subscribe sign. That shit is irresistible. 😅
No arguing that. If it's upside down it has to be important right?
Hey guys fourth time commenting and now i got a whisky story. Over the last couple days i had the oppertunity to go on a buisness trip where all expensess where paid by the company and so we went out as group to a bar so i saw this as an oppertunity to try out some free scotch so i had my first experience of Glenlivet 12, Mcallan 12 and Glenmorangie 10. Got say i loved all 3 i was supprised in my short time with whisky i was able to pull out some differences between all 3. Looking forward to getting some of my own in the near future.
Awesome! kickass mooching business trip story
I didn't know what you meant by round until I tasted Rabbit Hole bourbon. It is an easy, smooth sipper and it is nice. Rabbit Hole is for Friday evenings after work with friends... with a designated driver.
That was the best joke I've heard all year! "No, she's left handed..." Ha! This was a great video. Great fun!
But then I thought, “how long was Rex out in the Texas sun that he’s tasting that in whisky?”
When Daniel clarified the term biscuit, it all made sense. I side with the hobbit.
Keep the videos coming. My whisky cabinet is full and my bank account is empty because of your incredibly entertaining channel. Sláinte! 🥃
Hobbits are always right.
Hey boys! I love your videos a lot. Since I've discovered your channel I've been watching your videos every single day. I was wondering if it would be possible to do a video on how to make home made blends for beginners? I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one interested, if it isn't super simple. I'm sure there's more to it than just pouring a bunch of liquids together and then drinking it after 5 minutes hahaha
i really like this idea 👍 and will bring it up to daniel later
Rex you're a gem :) have a great day!
I also support this idea. It would be really cool to do it on camera and then crack it open a year later or so. Also, it's something I want to try someday.
i bought a bottle of balvenie 12 doublewood and something was missing ... so i added caol ila 12, about 15% .... perfect!
I'm gonna have to search for this while I'm in KY next month. Any idea how easy it is to find out there?
In theory, it's widely available in KY!
Thomas Murphy, i chubbed up reading this 😂😂😂😂😂
Scones, American biscuits, and shortcakes (like strawberry shortcake) are all culinary cousins that use the "blend-mix method".
Thanks for watching!
Everything you need to know about Canadian Whisky.

I love your videos guys since I started wacting your videos got more intrested in learning more about whisk(e)y and trying more whiskeys as well and I was wondering if you guys can do Jim Beam devils cut... btw I am on team Rex with the bisket wars
Hey Guys:
According to the American English dictionary Merriam-Webster, a cookie is a "small flat or slightly raised cake". A biscuit is "any of various hard or crisp dry baked product" similar to the American English terms cracker or cookie, or "a small quick bread made from dough that has been rolled out and cut or dropped from a spoon".
So, when having whisky: meaning 1.
When having grits: meaning 2.
Cheers!
Love the kilt Daniel .
There was a young Scotsman named Jock,
Who thought that he knew how to rock.
As he twisted with flair,
His kilt flew in the air,
And the girls all passed out with the shock!
There was a young poet named Dan,
Whose poetry never would scan.
When told this was so,
He said, "Yes, I know,
It's because I try to put every possible syllable into that last line that I can."
Said an unashamed satyr named Rex,
Unabashedly showing his sex:
"My bollocks are brimmin',
I hanker for wimmen---
This display better have some effects!"
Loved the left handed golf joke too!
these are all awesome
You sir are a modern day McGonagall. :)
Hey Guys
I have sent you two samples of the Glenfarclas 40, i hope you receive them soon. I'm going to be sitting down with my friend Andy Carr to celebrate our 40th birthdays on Saturday September 23rd, I hope you enjoy the samples and have a drink with us, maybe talk about how whisky changes with age
Regarding the live show, I went to our local bottle shop, as I live in a small country town in Queensland Australia, which I will refer to as Bumfucknowhere, but it's official name is Dysart. Given the fact that Bumfucknowhere has one pub, The Jolly Colllier (it's a coal mining town and our pub is a pun), the limited stock is probably a good example of big brands that are available anywhere, see below a full list

Quite the list! Thanks for writing it all up for us!
ACTUALLY *pushes glasses up bridge of nose*
half of a bottle relative to one third of a bottle blended is a 3:2 ratio, not 2:1 (375mL to 250mL)
I need to get out more
the fang drops some knowledge on the unwashed heathens! you and me fang, we'll educate this rabble together - because i math real good too.
hahahahahahaha. Awesome. duly educated.
This time I had the good sense to keep my mouth shut.

Love that
I'd love to hear you guys argue about this: in terms of complexity, how would you rank the most popular (ie most avaliable) whiskys from an certain area, for instance highland?
Love the content, was wondering if you guys planned on doing a review on blood oath pact?
Daniel, are you referring to a version of pioneer hardtack?
Yeah, I think that's the origin I was thinking of
Buttermilk biscuits and shortbread biscuits both exist in my world. The former for breakfast and the latter for every other meal.
I couldn't find anything about it on your Channel, so could I suggest you try Whisky from the Hammerschmiede
If i can find it, yes!
He would. just out of spite
American family still love my cup a tea and a biscuit
Dudes, I looked for all kinds of ways to bring whiskey down (I have one I really like and I'm pretty sure you haven't had), but I'm flying and it's just not workable. I even considered driving until I realized it was 14 hours. I'll figure something out, though.
yeah, 14 hours. And 10 of it in Texas :-)
YES. Chef's of the world side with me!
Damn I had a 90% similar experience with them. Hope you're doing well!
I finally confessed to my wife that I was seeing a shrink. she says, "that's fine sweetie. I'm seeing a plumber, a doctor, and the mailman"
Well since you changed the name from whiskey biscuits to Whiskey Vault should we argue is the vault the ceiling on the tower or is the vault where you keep the whiskey? #vaultwars
Forget about the heinican guy you two are the most interesting bastards in the world ! I love this channel.!!
I swear you guys go up 2k subs every day..... good job!
Bonus points for the sport coat.
I agree that the Rabbithole website is awesome... but when the locator results say the closest bar or retail store with it is 484.6 miles away... because that 6/10 is important... it's less awesome.
Yeah. Crappy distribution
This comment may never be seen by you guys but never the less you guys should do a whiskey and cigar pairing with Rabbit Hole and Diesel Whiskey Row cigar. Diesel used rabbit hole barrels and aged their binder in them.
Ever thought about trying out some danish whisky?
Just need to get some!
I went to my favorite breakfast place last weekend and ordered cookies and gravy.
The videos are great. Have you done a review of redbreast yet?
we just recorded it today! it should release within the next few days. 👍
Could you please do a review on Maker's Mark cask strength and Maker's 46
I love because out of the hundreds of drinks that are on those shelves the bullet rye sticks out like a sore thumb
"The Mooch" that joke was told so well... you should try stand-up. Watch Seinfeld's latest special on Netflix where he tells of how he got his start. Your delivery is so smooth I think you should give it a try. I think you're a natural...
Now you guys gave me the idea to blend some samples that i have left here. Lets blend that shit!!
It's funny how im addicted to woching you guys
we hide a subliminal message in the video signal. at phase 2, you'll feel an overwhelming urge empty your bank account, buy piles of whiskey, and ship them all to us.
my list for the live stream!!

balvenie
When is the next blendageddon coming?
apathyforthenorm, it should be coming after the next sommelier classes - which start in the next few days.
Awesome!!!!
Let's settle this; from the etymology section of the "Biscuit" Wikipedia page:
"The Old French word bescuit is derived from the Latin words bis (twice) and coquere, coctus (to cook, cooked), and, hence, means "twice-cooked".
Checkmate you bastards! ;)
Science for the win!
Whiskey Vault, Wikipedia is the primitive instinct of a mob. The enlightened know the Truth.
Is this worth 85$ or is this hype?
How in the holy hell do you all spot those sparkles so easily?!?!?
Side note... Tried a bourbon called Town Branch. There was a flavor I couldn't place... kind of a mid note that seemed... earthy? Moldy? Not overpowering and I couldn't place it... but then I tried a sip after a very sweet hard candy and that subtle note was suddenly overpowering, and very unpleasant. Could it be a sour note I just can't characterize well? I don't even want to finish the bottle now. Next night i had my Angel's Envy and it was just so glorius.... So for $50 would you go Rabbithole or Angel's Envy?
personal preference, angels envy.
Tomorrows sparkles will blow your freaking mind.
Chad Nickle I have no doubt. With a Chad at the controls.
-Sincerely
A Fellow Chad
It'd be interesting to see a comparison between 4 or 5 completely different whiskeys blindfolded.
