Excellent videos. Your spiritual pep talk was most welcome, too. Doing art takes us there. Now I understand why I wept when I saw Leonardo’s St. John the Baptist. He left his soul on the canvas.
Thank you, appreciate it. Through creating we remember creation. Yes, I've had those wonderful connecting moments with artworks. The energy is palpable. Thank you for connecting with my work and channel. Wishing you a wonderful day :)
My pleasure. No, not at all. The oil paint has substantial oil and a good oil to pigment ration, which makes it feel buttery. Any addition of medium would make the feel of the paint too slippery and oily. For me personally if the paint is too oily , then it makes it difficult to layer and blend. Hope this helps. best Wishes, M.
Wonderful to hear. Keep those palettes/brushes moving and before you know it, you'll begin to choose your colours automatically without thinking. My pleasure. Wonderful to know my work and technique have resonated with you. At his point I haven't investigated any on-line courses. If you are located in Australia, Sydney or the Illawara Region, I am holding a two full day workshop Sep 21 and 22. All details in the community tab. Have a wonderful creative day. ❤
Excellent tutorial! Thank you. Please, could you tell more about your paper board? Each time I try oil paint on paper , the oil separate and builds a oil halo aroud the paint.
You are most welcome. Thank you for your kindness and for subscribing and connecting to my channel. There are numerous factors to consider when painting oil on paper. I use a high grade quality of oil and paint on kraft paper (approx 190GSM ++) High grade oil paint tend to have a better ratio between pigment and oil. Using high quality materials is the key in most creative pursuits……Here are some additional key factors to consider: 1. Surface Preparation, sealing and priming helps with the halo effect. 2. Quality of cardboard, thickness reduces warping and oil absorption. 3. Acid Free cardboard ensures longevity. 4. Type of Oil paint: From my experience cheaper oil paints have a higher oil content. Opt for paint with lower oil content. 5. Application technique: Start with think layers and then build texture on your second or even third layer…….Hope this helps. Best wishes for a creative day, Mirjana. ❤
Hi, thank you for the support and for connecting with my work. This particular painting is painted on kraft paper (similar to cardboard) My local art store sells them with a GSM of 190-290. Not sure if other art suppliers hold similar items. Hope this helps. 🌻
When you say "oil" with oil paint, I am gathering you might be referring to mediums? No I don't add any mediums to my oil paint. I paint with high grade oil which have a good balance between pigment and oil content. As I paint wet-into-wet I don't have a need for mediums. Should I work using the dry technique or scrambling, then maybe I would consider adding a medium. Hope this helps.
I primarily work with oil paint and am less familiar with acrylics. My preferred technique involves painting wet-into-wet, as I enjoy the buttery texture of oil paint and their slow drying time.
I don't look at the brand as much as their flexibility, shapes and sizes. And the type you decide on is predicated on your style and how you like you paint. I know this isn't specific, however it comes down to your personal technique. On one of my knives it's written "art Basics"...not sure if this "brand" is only in Australia or world wide....The way I found which knife was better for me was by painting and understanding my unique painting style. .......When you get a moment have a look at how each knife behaves in this video and it might give you an insight into the best palette-knife you can start with. ua-cam.com/video/aoAFrRmrusw/v-deo.html Thank you for connecting with my work and the channel. Thank you much appreciated. I refrain from using medium in my paintings, opting instead for high-grade oil paints. These paints boast an optimal ratio of pigment to natural oils, resulting in superior texture, and flow. Best wishes for a creative day, M
There are pros and cons. I don’t use liquin medium. The only medium that I might utilise from time to time , primarily for tinting is “old Masters Flemish Maroger” However this is on a rare occasion.. A pro would be that Liquin can accelerate drying time, minimise brushstrokes, increase transparency etc…..I prefer to work wet-into-wet and a slow drying time and with my personal technique, I don’t find much use for it. I have found that using high quality oil paints reduces the need to use mediums. Hope this helps.
Sorry, but the background music is very distracting as I’d prefer to concentrate on what you’re saying. Excellent information provided by you thank you so much!
Thank you for showing the balance between the brush and the knife. The painting is beautiful!
Most welcome. Thank you for tuning in. Keep creating.

Thanks for the demo. When you work from wet to wet, do you usually use sun-thickened linseed oil?

I’m fascinated with palette knife painting and you are the first tutorial I’ve watched. Is it possible to use acrylics?
I primarily work with oil paint and am less familiar with acrylics. My preferred technique involves painting wet-into-wet, as I enjoy the buttery texture of oil paint and their slow drying time.

Great video! I was wondering do you use any mediums with the paint? Or just straight paint. Thanks!
Thank you much appreciated. I refrain from using medium in my paintings, opting instead for high-grade oil paints. These paints boast an optimal ratio of pigment to natural oils, resulting in superior texture, and flow. Best wishes for a creative day, M
