Here is your combo guide for the Grappler in DnF Duel! He maybe doesn't have the flashiest combos in a game full of them, but when he starts hitting you the screen starts shaking and his damage is absolutey above average! So here are the combos and hope you find them useful and helpful!
L = Light
M = Medium

FOREWARD:
Grappler is not the biggest combo monkey in the game by any stretch, but when he hits you it HURTS. He probably has the highest effective combo damage in the game in most practical real match situations just... the enemy is gonna get 4 turns for every one you get cause he's slow with the smallest buttons in the game lol.
If a a button is in brackets like this [MS] It means HOLD THE BUTTON!
For heavy stomp, you can control its distance! Move further by holding forward after holding the button.

NOTE: Conversion skills all kinda matter with what you got hit with, sometimes you can't get the conversion combos shown in the video if all your armoured through was a jab! You just wont have enough health to recover yet!
NOTE: Adding a super at the end of a combo will always add another 200 damage, supers cannot do less than that.

Here we are with our first combo guide for DnF Duel and of course it was gonna be the grappler! Grappler combos are maybe not long and involved, but the screen sure does shake like crazy with him stomping everywhere and the damage is very high! Keep in mind many combos involving stomp require aiming(or not aiming) it, so get used to that! He's pretty straight forward and honestly doesn't quite have to play the same game everyone else does in terms of meter management/conversions. If you armour through a move you can usually convert on the spot cause you have recoverable health now, and just about every single combo works at full health, regular 100 mana. Cool guy all in all!

Grappler mains! Do not feel discouraged when fighting zoners it may suck at 1st but when you learn the match ups the satisfaction of slamming and destroying your opponents will be worth the pain! Stay committed! Grappler FTW!

More combo guides coming soon, although Crusader is off the table for now cause he's getting patched for sure cause of that infinite, and that means probably changing how his down heavy works, which means combos in general might change. I like these videos to stand the test of time as long as possible so a dude with a patch staring him down ain't gonna work. Whose next? no idea lol. Also video should be in 4k soon but youtube processing is slow. Give the vid a like to support grapplers and grabbling people!
If Crusader is off the table due to a patch, might I request the other side of the coin for his faith, Inquisitor?

Man! Even Grappler's basic BnB combos are amusing to watch! I like seeing his conversions be put to use with the grey health caused by armoring through moves!
Thank you so much for this video. I was so impressed with how well Grappler works that I have changed my desktops' wallpapers to represent. They really seem to have solved a lot the issues that plague this archetype and have even found a way to make him easy to learn.

Awesome grappler combo showcase/guide. Its funny at 4:45 I actually discovered this yesterday, works great when fishing for max range standing medium pokes in neutral once you master the timing. If the standing medium lands you get big combo damage, and if they block it you just don't follow up and are still super safe to plan your next move. Lastly one thing that was not in the video but I found has some use, his forward MS counter that adds the wall bounce, the super will always draw the opponent into you when they are in the bounce animation in the air assuring the super will land 100% without fail pulling them right to you. Helped me take a few W's in situations where it was hard to get in and timing a good forward MS was the easy win condition to finish them with the super.

best thing about this video wasn't even helping understand the matchup better
it was noticing that on the end of the super, grappler stomps on your back so hard an explosion worthy of a building demolition keeps going after it is finished

Great video. Hopefully more grappler vids in the future, since hes definitely my favorite character, though I struggle playing him in literally any matchup other than a ditto, and maybe striker. Particularly due to his inherently short range, and me being bad at playing under extreme guard pressure. Regardless I'd love to see some guides on how to play neutral with him, especially against certain matchups like ranger or launcher. Cheers!

Grabble boi is the only character in dnf I played so far xD. Ich have so much fun with him that I don't feel the urge to play someone else for the moment. It's hard sometimes due the fact that ever other character is a zoner in this game. But overcoming the distance getting them tilted with two combos into death makes me smile

With conversion you can do 823 damage. Aereal break down --> magnumsautl --> conversion --> aereal break down --> air stainer --> quaking tiger

A lot of the stuff you are ending with light Frankensteiner can actual be ended with a jumping medium into air grab. It won’t link with jumping light but the medium works out plus air grab kills any remaking grey health

Very literally no idea. It was gonna be crusader next but he's 100% getting patched due to the infinite and I don't know what else that will change so the video might be outdated in mere days. I want videos to stand the test of time as long as possible. Next probably somewhere between vanguard/troubleshooter/inquisitor/hitman

Will there be any guides for specific matchups?
There will more than likely be a general big tips guide for grappler sometime next week. For matchup specifics, I gotta get more games under my belt! I know a decent bit but like, ive played vs 1 enchantress ever so I couldn't even begin to tell you how that matchup works.
I've been trying to end my combos with Air Throw where possible even if it sacrifices some damage.
On cast members with slower DPs you can frame kill with whiff jab then hold 9 for a safejump. Most importantly this will work on Swift Master, Berserker and Crusader. A few others include Launcher, Vanguard and Enchantress.
For the rest you have to manually time one but at least you can do it. Regular Steiner and Break Edge enders don't have enough time to jump at the opponent without them being able to DP on reaction. (You can make some like Inquisitor and Vanguard whiff though)
Really helpful in converting some light hits into safe, continued pressure to really make them sweat the command throws or block a few of his Neck Snaps.
After some conditioning don't forget to hit them with safe jump set up into empty jump super.
In your grappler guide will you cover strategy/matchup information? Also I’ve learned some of the punishes for certain reversals and I’m wondering if you will cover all of those interactions in your guide as well. Looking forward to it! Love the content!
when the eventual big guide comes ill be covering a lot. A lot of his matchups though just boil down just getting in rather than any specific tech. Once you are in and can stay in, youve already basically won.
Just started playing for the first time with some friends, I can confidently say Grappler is my favorite character to play

Whenever you do Vanguard to get the most damage off of him make sure to start off with his neutral heavy into forward heavy into back heavy. Im sure you know that though cant wait to see what you find

Question when fighting I noticed at times when I counter a hit the effect happens but the counter attack doesn't activate. Any idea why

Wdym by light/heavy specials/magic? Are there L/H versions of specials in this game like Street Fighter?
heavy means held versions of his specials. He can hold his buttons to get a different, stronger version of the moves
at 5:32 you mean, if you super without it being in a combo it does 400? but if it's in a combo like the one shown right before it does half? Interesting..

HOW DO YOU DO THIS MICRODASH? ! I get it one out of 20 tries on ps4.
Just a matter of timing, you can buffer it a bit ahead of time as well. Its one of those things that once you have it, it will immediately make sense and then its just there.
Perhaps a training video is in order....?

practice makes perfect! If you are not connecting heres the usual thing to go by: 1) If your move missed, you did it too late 2) if your move didn't come out, you did it too early

Does anyone know if you can counter Vanguard moves? Or will he just eat through counter? Or like a certain range? Certain moves?
I know Swift Master has to watch for counter at full screen with a certain blast move.
You can counter everything vanguard does except the lows.

Combo vids are always text only. I always made videos in the way I like to watch videos, and to me a combo video should always been straight forward and to the point with as little fluff as possible.
@@rooflemonger Completely agree. No offence to the people that do add fluff to guides, but I’m not clicking on the guide videos for their personality, I’m here to learn a character. In and out sort of deal.

Playing grappler against the whole roster you have to work twice as hard. Dnf needs to make the grappler sprint faster or give him armor on his stomp.
the problem is getting close to do those crazy combos, bcuz literally everyone can hit u from 3 miles away

@@Edzter every Grappler move ends close to you so if you dont pressing buttons mindlessly you can punish him but remember he can crossup you with this "red jump" so press sometimes guard button for that. Grappler cant punish you if you play Character with decent range attack (like all of the roster XD). His hyperarmor is countered if you have good range low attacks or your combo starts with low attacks. His Grabs are all high attacks so just so try to always guard pressing down so his grabs cant reach you for easy punish. Grappler has a good damage combos but he need to work for it very hard (to even start it xD). I think thats all you want to know. Grappler is so bad vs rest of the roster (even striker). He is only good vs someone who dont know his tricks (noobkiller). Devs just made a good Grappler character without making him somehow playable vs other characters with decent range moves. Thats why i quit this game (i only play rankeds) and you just cant win sadly. Maybe in future they will give him Great Axe or gun to grappler with.
I play the grappler to terrify my opponents. A good grappler will always have a player on the run.

I don't undestand why they make the grapler so weak. No invincible reversal , his cancel guard is trash and all the armor lose vs low attack. And his dodge is the worst of the game.
