As always, fab tips. Really good homework tips Emily. The handstand idea is my favourite. 👍
Here’s my top tip. If your child avoids or doesn’t want to do their homework - try a double bind.
For example, rather than asking them when they plan to do their homework you bind them to either option A or B.
You might say, do you want to do your homework before or after dinner? This gives the child a sense of being in control and empowers them to follow through with their decision.
Hope this is a useful tip 🤞🏼

We have homework straight away when get in 10 Min reading and any homework needed. That way don't get out of the learning mood
. It has really helped the battle as they know its their free time once its done we get in around 3.30 and they generally done by 3.50. For those writing in Microsoft word go to review and read aloud is a great tool to proof read assignments etc I use that for my university work x

I would say that if your child is struggling with homework at primary level (which is supposed to be just consolidating their learning from class), definitely speak to their teacher. If they’re regularly struggling with homework, it can mean they’re set too high or that they need some extra help in class. I know tutoring has benefits but for the majority of children, a quick chat to their teacher is really helpful. Schools should be regularly assessing children and adjusting their work accordingly. If your child is bored and finding work too easy, again, chat to the school to make sure your child is getting work that’s being adequately differentiated.
And for kiddos with additional learning needs, look at getting differentiated home work, or like we did, arranging with the teacher that we could differentiate it ourselves to the child’s need. For SEND parents, it makes for much calmer homework time.

My little one is at pre school but she loves crafts so the caddy is a great idea

Really great advice! Thank you so much for sharing. For me, I recommend turning off all sources of media. Even though the adults were watching the news, I noticed the kids were watching the adults watch telly. So, turn it off for just an hour, let the kids focus, and adults can enjoy being free from bombardment from media.

Hiu Emily, love the tips. I didn't know about the heart above the head. that's very interesting. I love reward charts. they really tech them about the real world because if you don't work you don't get your pay check at the end of the week. I get my kids to do their homework as soon as they get home so they can go do whatever they want with their free time. Even if they don't have homework from school they do reading or finish off their work in their apps that they do at school. Thant way they are getting in the habit of doing it before they start getting a lot of homework.

Hey Emily, hope you’re all well. I’m happy, good and well thank you good evening love this 10 Homework and study ideas video. I’ve have really enjoyed this 10 Homework and study ideas because it made me feel happy and motivated to be productive and organised too. These homework and study tips are so simple and easy to follow as well. I really love the 8 homework and study tips too. My favourite homework study tips was the set the timer timer on the phones and using timer apps to make children more motivated and happy when doing homework at home as well. I absolutely love the forest tree timer app because you can study but also see a tree grow too. Get it involved and make homework fun is good for everyone because it will definitely really make them better and excited to be productive too. I always find maths fun and it feels like a maths activities and games too. I liked the idea of spellings songs! Online toutoring is a fun and exciting way to make homework more productive and motivational too. My work websites that I always use are Seneca learning and Study rocket too. Choosing a place to do work is important because you want to be comfortable space where you can work. I love to keep all of my stationery in a pencil case. Everything you will need is a great one to do because it saves you time and effort to go and find the things you will need to sit down and work. I love to keep everything in a place so I know where it is too. Get fresh air and oxygen because it helps you to feel calm and relaxed too. I like getting fresh air too! Doing exercises between breaks is a lovely one because it keeps you moving less anxious and makes you feel good too. Rewards charts are amazing for children but also stickers too. When I finished all of my work I do reward myself a video to watch too. To do lists are so nice because you literally write down and tick them as and when you done each thing in the week. A thing which helps me to be organised and productive is to plan for the day and week ahead all the time. I try and do some work when I find a chance to have the quiet working time at home too. Plan our week is a great one to do every Sunday so you know exactly what you have to do to have more of a productive week. Make to do lists is a good one because you can jot down everything you have to do too. I always put some music or some study with me videos on in the background whilst I am doing work on my laptop. I get all of my music and songs from epidemic sound / pop channel. If you ever feel unmotivated to do work on my laptop I just put on some study with me videos to help me get on with my work. Study with me videos is a wonderful idea if you or your kids do get unmotivated to do homework just put some study with me videos so they can see someone studying and you can also study with them as well. I love this idea so much I use it all the time.
