For someone who has listened to AF now for over 14 yrs, its so rad to see this song live and still feel like it was yesterday! Daniel, thanks so much for sharing this with others!!! I hope to catch AF live and enjoy this in person! Stoked! Peace.
Geeze. You people that are critiquing his singing seem pretty oblivious to the fact that there are a lot singers out there that can't hit as high as they once did FIFTEEN years ago.
Wow what a great original recording to what I've grown up to. This live performance shows a combination of me putting hot sauce into my hamburger and your guy's lack of proficiency to what how it was done right. Thanks a lot gentlemen.
Wow. The vocals are a bit different from how they sounded back then. I prefered the bit higher pitched vocals a bit more. But this is still insanely good. I would never have expected Mike to still be able to put so much emotion into these songs. Perfect.
Is Owen the same Owen from 1998??? He sounds and looks completely different holy shit. He had a highish voice that worked so well now he sounds.. Manish which is not bad but really is completely different from what I originally saw. He's aged pretty well I guess his voice is meant to progress into something else
Love this band and not against reunions but this type of music is hard to recreate, mostly because of the vocals. It's difficult to put the same emotion into singing about young love when you're settled down 15 years later. Maybe it'll come with time but I doubt they'll ever better the recorded version.
Mike is really off key here but in his defense the original recording of Never Meant was extremely high and it was a big point if he could replicate it on the tour. "It's not natural for me to sing really high like that. So I'm sitting at home while the kids are going to bed, screaming in the basement. The good thing is even on the record, I was never in any key or anything, I don't have the need for that. I just have to get high."
I've watched all the songs uploaded from this set on youtube, despite the band being incredibly amazing in every sense, Steve's drumming is phenomenal and sticks out to me.
Yeah totally slaughtered the vocs :/ sounds nothing like the actual stuff which is depressing. Really wish they would've toured more of the US I would've payed major money to see these guys.
Wow. I know all you die hard AF will be in denial over this but Kinsella sounds pretty bad here. Don't get me wrong, the band sounds pretty great, I mean, it's hard not to with that calibre of drummer, but Kinsella is really off key. Almost drunk sounding.. I hope he shapes up for all those sold out shows they have scheduled. Just sayin'.
He doesn't sound off-key to me, but it's impossible to judge, as a) I wasn't there, and b) the audience are singing along, and some of them sound terrible. That's one of the issues I have with live videos, particularly those filmed by members of the audience: people in the audience often ruin otherwise perfectly decent recordings by singing (badly), and as they are closer to the camera than the band, you can clearly hear them during playback. This video is one of the better ones, though, it has to be said.
I see what you say; In the first lines of the song he does sound a little off key, but I think later in the song the vocals sound great! But yeah he definitely sounds different than in the album (considering it was 15 years ago) ...
Honestly, even with him sounding awful, I'd have absolutely no problem paying for tickets to one of their concerts. The music sounds fantastic, and nothing can compete with those riffs.
I think he sounded pretty rough, but this was what he said was their first time actually playing together in a while. I'm pretty sure his vocals will at least pick up a little, I doubt he'll sound as good as he did back in the 90s though.
You know a song is amazing when the singer sings it out of tune and it still manages to deliver the same powerfull feeling.

Bob Nanna is the one with the tambourine,
Wow.
The vocals are a bit different from how they sounded back then. I prefered the bit higher pitched vocals a bit more. But this is still insanely good.
I would never have expected Mike to still be able to put so much emotion into these songs. Perfect.
The vocals are different because Mike is older
I'm happy they are back... but I'm sad because they will never como to brazil =(
Matthew Frank, living the dream......
Mike's voice sounds way better now. He rocked those notes.
would love to see 'em playing I'll See You When We're Both Not So Emotional together again...
「2:51のタンバリン野郎は神」って米がじわじわくる

people grow up. wow.
Oh shut up neckbeard, can't a guy just post his thoughts without someone else thinking they're a smart ass???
The guy's name is Mike Kinsella and Owen is one of his projects. Same dude.
Sounds kind of cool in this different key

fucking awesome!
Holy shit this is great. Tambourine guy at 2:51 is a god
looked like Bob Nanna. I'm just going to assume it was.
CrÆzy Indeed it was Bob. Lifted Bells opened the show.
Daniel Inskeep Wooahhh! \o/

wow.
too bad that no matter how many times i click the "like" button, it only counts as one like.

i was honored to have been able to go. it was a fantastic set.
Steve lamos!!!
I've watched all the songs uploaded from this set on youtube, despite the band being incredibly amazing in every sense, Steve's drumming is phenomenal and sticks out to me.

I love American Football as much as the next viewer, but he does sound pretty bad.
Honestly, even with him sounding awful, I'd have absolutely no problem paying for tickets to one of their concerts. The music sounds fantastic, and nothing can compete with those riffs.
