I'm in the warbird community and last weekend was able to help get a 98 year old veteran back in the seat he last flew in 79 years ago It's why we fly and honor the men and women of the greatest generation Men like your grandfather , my grandfather and two uncles will always be hero's

I was very lucky and had my grandfather live until he was 82. His stories of his service to our country was some of the best times of my youth it was also some of the most shocking and horrible times too. Too all the men and women who served this great country THANK YOU for all the freedom my family enjoys.

Thank you and your family for creating this channel. It is easy to forget when we hear the “Numbers” of war that each one was a real person with family and emotions of their own. This Memorial Day I am thinking of my 17 Brothers and sister in arms of the U.S. Air Force CSAR community who made the Ultimate Sacrifice from 2002 to the withdrawal from Afghanistan. It was an honor to serve with them and I wish them clear skies and tailwinds in the afterlife.

Very Sad, Very Touching. Some of my Uncle's were Married in WW2, some were younger and Unmarried. It was that much more excruciating for the Married Soldiers. Happy Memorial Day Everyone.

I just recently found out that my long-lost grandfather was a WW2 veteran and a policeman and firefighter after the war. Hearing about the legacy your grandfather and grandmother created was so beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes. My dad was stationed at Adak Alaska in World War II. One of the funny things we found in his paperwork was, he sent his mother on an actual Army requisition form, asking for a box of cookies and some peppermint Lifesavers.

My father survived the Korean war, and he was 4f'ed in WW2 because he was an only son. Sent a draft notice for service in 1950, he said no you don't again, this time im going. Inspired my service in Lebanon as well. We lost another family member in Germany, during the big push towards Berlin. He was only 20. God bless those lost and their families.

Thank you so much for this channel! My uncle was a very young Marine who was killed on Saipan. This was when my mother was pregnant with my older brother. She knew the moment he passed, and thereafter just waited for the telegram. He sent his Bible home to my mother, his only sister, before that beach landing because he knew he would die there. It had blood on it from some of the other boys whom he told about Jesus as they were dying, and they believed and went to Heaven. My grandparents and mother never got over his loss. I felt their pain, but also felt he was smiling and looking over us from Heaven.

My grandfather died on the Bataan death march… He was a civilian businessman in the Philippines, when it was captured. My father spent his preteen years in civilian concentration, camp with his mother and sister. Somehow my grandfather became of service to the American army. But I still don’t know how, been trying to find out. I tried to get my father to tell the story but he wasn’t sure either. My father and grandmother later received a letter from Harry Truman thanking my grandfather for his service, and my grandmother received a death benefit from the American army.
I still have post cards the Japanese imperial army forced my grandfather to write that stated he was being treated OK.
A couple of years back somebody from the army contacted me saying they might’ve found my grandfather’s remains and asked me for a DNA sample but it was inconclusive. The fellow that I talk to had a list of people they were searching for, and my grandfather was the only one on the list that didn’t have a rank because he wasn’t actually in the army. This confused that fella also. This is where it stands today still trying to find out.
By the way, my father was technically a subject of the British crown for his citizenship. He and his mother were brought to the United States after the war, where he became an American citizen. He later joined the army and fought for his new country in Korea.

Actually it's a myth. Bob Keeshan was a Marine, but he remained in the states during the war, never seeing combat. One of those urban legends. There’s no video of Marvin talking about it, either. Another myth🤷♂️
