One thing I love doing is watching your videos and That Pedal Show Videos after I get off from work. I’ve learned so much and got into some really cool music and become a better guitarist because of it. So thank you guys so much for the awesome videos. Cheers from New Mexico USA.
Im so happy Hook amps finally are out there. A couple years ago i saw the youtuber Paul Davids demonstrating his Hook Wizard, and i was blown away by the concept
The Wizard is definitely on my wish list. I love the concept to bring new technology into real valve amp. Keep the signal analog but have all bells and whistles we generally only get in digital stuff.
Thast sums up what I was thinking. After having the opportunity to play a Wizard in my local music store I was totally sold and the amp as well... sold to ME ;-) Best of analog and digital world. I don´t want to arouse envy, of course!
i've noticed depending on what i listen to this channel on; it always sounds different. (like rehearsal)** like, it must be hard mixing live guitars with constant changing amps and effects... but yeah the mixers are hit or miss. this one was good, hum sing seems to not fark up the transients and make one shite sound. LOL
No, because obviously an old tv screen is a ‘tube’ in the UK too (crt tube emitting electrons onto a phosphorescent screen). An old tv would have valves inside performing a similar job to valves in an amp, and also a cathode-ray tube that produces pictures... So it’s helpful to call a tube a tube and a valve a valve - they are two different things... Also, the name ‘valve’ references the way the component controls/diverts electron flow. Current, flow, valve... all are consistently using the language of liquids to describe electricity. So again, ‘valve’ is more informative than ‘tube’. :-)
You guys... that is SUCH an awesome lil' jam intro... I'm all in. Tele sounds like a good tele, Heritage sounds like a good 335. Ripping wah sounds from Pete. Really impressed. Guessing those amps are pretty good if they interpret the intrinsic tones of those guitars so well. Stay healthy guys; will be visiting the shop again soon, a few pedals and a few treats...
as a dutch person i knew about the hook amps for years , i have had the little lenny some years ago , but marble , meyer and kool/elfring are great amps too , and then offcourse there are the koch amps , these are the great 5 handmade tube amp brands from the netherlands .

Wow! The Wizard is incredible, the MIDI possibilities are just insane, but that Little Lenny!!! I thought I was on course for a Fender Pro Reverb, but this has just popped a spanner in the works. Beautiful sounding amp
I wonder if the 'Wizard' was inspired by Neil Young's 'Whizzer' device that manually turns the knobs on his Fender Deluxe to preset settings that Neil can select from foot switches on his board?.
Pete i love that purple Tele it is so radical with the wah wah all missing is me playing blues with the captain Lee and Pete on lead guitar and Hook gots me HOOKED !!
Yamaha DG-series amps of 20 years ago had automated controls. Even by today's standards, these digital modelling amps sound pretty awesome. Their DG-STOMP pedal, based on the same models, did not have automated controls.
Two Lenny's... but not the EL-34 Dual 45. A bit of a missed opportunity, because the Dual has the classic rocksound the Lenny does not provide. But nice to see you got Hooked in the UK too. )
I would love to try these amps! They're too expensive for me, though. I'll go with the Blackstar tube/valve amps. But if I ever get the chance, I'll try Hook, definitely!
So, I put on the (flat) "studio" headphones, for the Critical Listening. Oh DANG, the Wah-wah is SO FINE! It's been underused for about 30 of my 60+ years. THANK YOU!
Great jammin’ dudes! I’m digging the Little Lenny, I think the automation on the Wizard is a little too much for my taste, but the tone on both is sounding great!
This reminds me a bit of the Stone Deaf Effects SD amps where it was a valve circuit, but digital controls to store as many presets as you wanted. So, the shared EQ wasn't really a problem in these scenarios because the presets each had their own EQ settings regardless of where the knobs were on the amp. Those didn't sell too well it seems because they don't make them anymore, and you don't see them on the used market very often.
Two words: Captain Hook! And a couple of more words : Love the amps, especially the Wizard. (After finishing this review, I am a bit disappointed that my brilliant joke was already in the video)
Been watching you guys since Rob was dreadlocked and slim. 😒. These are by far...BY FAR...the best sounding amps you have ever demo’d. F@$#in’ hell, Pete, your guitars are insane, as is your playing. Great!!
Me: No I have a Strat...and a PRS...and a hollow body,,,no don’t need a Tele. Pete : Plays the Tele. Me : fk it.....I’ll sneak it in when my wife’s at work.
Good grief muffin patty, the blues tune raises the hair! Lee, never lose your perfect, to the point expression. It is to die for. Really. You and Pete are tops. HOWEVER, I am begging our listeners to engage in a lawsuit of unheard of dimensions.... it demands you immediately release your long promised album of instrumental L&P music! How dare you two keeping the suspense alive so long. You have been warned! 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪 Thanks for all your work BTW....
Leendert Haaksma and don't forget Erik van de Haar (Haar guitars). Both they started this line of valve amps. As a electro technician I always thought that I am a specialist in that and a guitarplayer as Leendert is specialised in playing guitar. Wrong. He nows really "everything" ( uhhhh... almost then? 😉) about valve amps and their technic. So in the early years of the Hook amps I owned a R20. Great amp. Then I swapped it for a R40 with more punch on the stage. A superb amp for the soundhe is made for. Because I stopped playing on stage I wanted to sell the R40, but my oldest son, who is also is playing guitar wanted this one for special reasons I can't tell here. He bought it for half the price I already got on the digital market. A pitty, but also I am happy to see it stays in the family. That amp has to do with the hard working time and the love to the builders who I personaly know verry well. It deserves a place in the "top ten valve amps". 😉
That purple Tele always sounds good. Methinks it might have something to do with the gentleman that is applying the pick to the strings! Oh, and those Hook amps sound really good!
Sounds great. Lee, in the opening jam, what drive are you using? I can see a Lightspeed, is that it? And what's that mini pedal with a the Tibetan Buddhist interdependent causation symbol printed on its side?
Hey Captain and DP, Could you guys do some A/B video using real amps/cabs and a helix with ownhammer or other IRs? I have not seen this type of video before and i am curious as to how they standup to a professional ear like DP or Rabia or RobC. Would love to know your thoughts. Cheers!
I've got the Little Lenny - which I love - and just spent more money on a Walrus delay/echo pedal with you. Now you show me what the Protein sounds like with the amp. Oh man.
wow it moves the settings like the Chase Bliss Tomato Tone. But sadly it's very expensive, i haven't even bought the H&K Grandmeister Deluxe i wanted to buy last year.
Wasn’t really feeling these amps on this demo at first - however I figured if they’re good enough for TPS Dan then they must be a bit special. Prices aren’t bad either given their “boutique” status. I felt the same hearing a Mesa Fillmore, then I played one in the flesh and left the shop much poorer!
Thank you for pulling out the Purple Monster Pete! It’s been a while.
We like to sprinkle the OG Purple Tele every now & then...
I missed that bit. Maybe it's censored in the UK.
Ooh err vicar....
That's what she said
if they went on tour I would go
Kinda sold on the amp within the first 2 minutes. You're killing it, Lee.
You too, Pete. You always compliment whomever you play with.
Captain Lee with licks!!! Oh and Pete too lol.
Just ordered my Wizard head and cabinet. Can’t wait to play with it.
I think that having pete there for videos has significantly improved the captains playing tbh. you can certainly tell a difference in his solos lately
what? So listening to robs shitty repetitive lick(s) day in and out is a creative drain? who woulda thought
Hey Lee, invite Leendert Haaksma (mr.Hook) himself to explain the amp🎸😎👍🏼

Pete's look to camera when the Captain says, "it just moves the knob to the position you want it to be in." is worthy of an Oscar.
