- The Lilys appear on Top Of The Pops as 'A Nanny In Manhattan' makes the UK charts after it is used on a Levis ad. The band are playing totally live - a brave decision considering Kurt sounds like he's coming down with laryngitis.
I bought the single back in '98. I was 16.
I helped it get to number 16! I miss the '90s...

I like this a lot! Even though Kurt's voice sounds shot it kind of works as different dynamic for the song. I saw him open for My Bloody Valentine in Dallas last year and he sounded perfect!

No need to do that Beatles-esque Liverpudlian-style vocal - sounds better in the American accent and America was at least as important to this kind of sound. The B-side tracks on this single are brilliant too- really authentic 60s experimentative rock.
I'm confused. is this the same lilys that wrote the song? if so, where did he get the silly accent, and why can't he sing the song at all like the recorded version? can someone clarify this for me? thanks.
i understand he didn't wanna suck live on totp, but the vocal melody just got butchered lol. it is so perfect on the track
This was compiled on New Hits '98. Definitely the worst ever track to feature in the entire series [which ran for almost 70 volumes]. Take a bow, Lilys.
Let's see the full tracklist on that cd. I doubt this was the worst ; ) This is such a great tune.
