I watch a lot of TV. The only TV series I ever watched the first season and ran out and got the books. Love What you guys have done. Can’t wait for the next two seasons
I totally agree Steve deserves an Emmy. He did such a great job with Solo. The moment when they come into the Legacy and you see he's stressed about people touching stuff but SO wants to share the world with them. You FEEL it from him.
The way he's frozen as a child is brilliant. I've never seen Zahn quite like that. I love the casting of Common too. He's got quite a menacing dark persona.
I have to say, it's really nice to know the author of these sci-fi novels I love seems like just a totally normal, cool dude. You're not way over the top in some aspect. Seem to have your head on straight and are a regular guy who writes great books. Nothing more to it Thanks for the thoughts!
Hi Hugh, congratulations on the awesome season. I think your point of not wanting to fool viewers who figure it out is a great point. We faced that problem with Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and Lost, where because people figured out what would happen based on good clues and interest, the show/movierunners wanted to subvert expectations and created something lesser than it was hinting to. "Oh you thought x was y? Well, really, its z! You never expected Z because its dumb!" Stick to your guns, the books are incredible and the show is living up to the books.
love all of this!!! The only thing my book reader heart missed was the back and forth communication between Juliette and Lucas when they were in the separate silos. I loved the back and forth there. So excited for season 3!
As a reader of the books, I was ecstatic to see Steve Zahn's casting as Solo, and he did not disappoint. Just a fantastic performance, definitely award worthy.
Last week I bought the Silo books on Kindle. Now listening to you I'm not sure if I want to read the books inbetween S02 and S03 because I don't want to be thrown off on another tangent. I Loved S01 and 02... So good ... this type of SciFi is exactly what I like with some not so predictable directions. Thanks for writing this series, I think I'll rewatch 01 and 02 again and might leave the books for now (maybe start reading them between S03 and S04). Excellent series - thank you Hugh.
Definitely going to rewatch and binge. I’ve read the books but my husband hasn’t. It’s hard not to be a spoiler. Very true about watching at least two episodes at a time on the first watch.
I think you just convinced me to re-watch Season 2 (probably Season 1 too...). :) I bought the books and audiobooks too. ('already "read" all of it. Great story!) Glad you mentioned a few good series to watch on Apple TV+ too! I would love being able to watch TV series on my android device though... :(
Congratulations on your success. I wish fans would support more new authors. I don't know how some of you got so lucky to find an audience, but most of us never do.
The events kept leading her back to wearing the firefighting suit. Which means it will protect her, while he falls on top of her to help buffer the flames. just my thoughts.
Loved this season and what was done with the characters, and how they have bought Lukas back up. I have read the series a few times and watched both seasons will rewatch them. Thank you for putting the books to screen.
This was a great season and a great series - plan to proceed and read the books - also watching severance now and I hope that it ends up as good as this
I watched season 1 week to week and fell in love with the story and characters! After the S1 finale I immediately ordered the series and read all 3 books all the way through. I thought the ‘shift’ in the story was a great way to introduce the backstory in ‘Shift’ the book and a fun little Easter egg for us book readers. Can’t wait for S3 and S4! Congratulations!
This is a great addition to bonus material. This is one of the best series I’ve watched. Up there with Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Great job with this story man. Really enjoying it.
The show is absolutely incredible and look forward to season 3 which will probably come out in 2026 I’m guessing. I myself have been inspired by your work I will have to listen or read your books sorry but I will do that at some point. I have taken your premise of the Silo and made it into a tiered city floating mere feet off the ground. This story I’m working on is called Mindblock dealing with a dystopian society where the main power who controls the city is a faceless organization called Paradigm Corp. who are controling peoples memories. It morphs into something that could blow people away. I was inspired by a youtube video that was discussing the lore of Silo and how they can’t remember the time before living in the Silos. It got me thinking and creating a world that uses your world you have created and then jumped off from there.
I wear a Whoop strap and sitting/watching the season finale had my Whoop convinced I was in the hardest workout I’ve done in years. And it felt like it. And I loved every second.
6:36 Yes, Steve's performance as Solo/Jimmy gave it away that he had been in there since he was a child. That mix of trauma and not being able to grow emotionally mature because he was all alone was so evident in Steve's acting skills.
I loved the books when first released I absolutely raved about them. I’m behind on the episodes as I’ve been unwell. Rebecca as Juliet was just perfect casting.
The problem I'm having with finishing the final 100 pages of Dust, Hugh, is I don't want the story to end and I'm afraid for characters I love. This story you've crafted in this trilogy has gone to the top of my favorites list. I absolutely love the show and the season 2 finale did not disappoint!

Vintage music appears to be an important part of the show. Loved the books AND the show. But then, I don’t even understand your concept of “unnecessary lesbians” 🤔, and I thought the execution of this season was brilliant.
@@KathySierraVideo"unnecessary lesbians" is when Apple changes the gender of a character and makes them gay/lesbian for the sole purpose of having a gay/lesbian character to check off an intersectional virtue signal box without adding to the story. They do this with the wheelchair-bound guy in mechanical, too. It's not reasonable to think that a person in his condition could do a very physical job In the confines of mechanical, but having him there makes Apple look diverse, equitable, and inclusive to those whose thinking goes no deeper than that. They do it in all their shows. I'm just saying the books were fine and didn't need to be changed in ANY of the ways they changed them - not that there's something wrong with being gay, lesbian, or whatever we call disabled people at this moment. My bigger complaint though is changing the story and characters for no reason. No reason at all other than to change them.
@@crairdin I might be a tiny bit in agreement on the point of “changing the authors original art” etc. But here we are, on the author’s own channel, with literally *the creator of the characters / story* telling us how much he loves what’s been done. I do share the opinion that a show/film producer should not take liberties with the author’s work in ways that break from the author’s intention. But that’s clearly not what happened in this case. In fact, this might be the first time I’ve ever heard an author actually say he’d kinda wished or considered retroactively altering his own work *because* he loved what was changed by the screen version.
That Finale was awesome. I screamed when Juliette stood on top of hill and came down like a boss. Best ending ever
