One think I appreciate about Vidit in this tournament that he took his chances and went for the win in every possible game. Of course he lost in few but thats again because he didnt play for a draw.

Nepo is such a beast with unorthodox ways in making plays that puts other player in dilemma even if opponent has advantage.
At some point this had to happen. Players trying to catch up will take chances. Nepo knows it and hence keeps his game solid for first 7-8 games. Pragg will have to push tomorrow with black and that again can go either way.
Also what helps him is players not able to convert the winning chances against him, like pragg and firouzja had

People can say whatever they want, but at least Vidit plays the most entertaining chess.
It is alright. Vidit was going for a win as a draw was not enough for him to stay in contention. A draw or a loss meant same to him. It was a heartbreak for Indian fans, not so much for him.
Now that he knows where he stands, viz he stands no chance of winning the title, he can play spoilsports for other title contenders that he faces in the final rounds.
What? He can still win the candidates if he wins every game onwards.
I disagree. Vidit should have not pushed so hard when there was no apparent advantage.
On a draw, he would have been just 1 point behind the title holder, with 3 games in hand.
While that sounds like a lot, he still would have gotten his chance to be aggressive and take chances against Alireza and Nijat, who have both had a shaky tournament.
There was plenty of room to make up for the gap, alas this is how it all comes to an end.
