Honestly, I'm not a hijabi or even a Muslim but I live with three other girls, two out of them bring their boyfriends around sometimes, and I get uncomfortable with that, especially the longer they stay into the night. I started locking my door at night just to give myself a sense of seperation and privacy, which I've never done before in my 2.5 years of living here. So, I can imagine how uncomfortable that housing situation was for you.

I started watching ur videos bc I got rejected from ucla this yr and thought there was NO way I could get into berkeley (my dream school) so I was researching Santa Cruz since I didn’t wanna go to UCSD. I’m so happy it all worked out and I got into UC Berkeley, I was so relieved and hysterical. If u ever need a friend at Cal, I gotchu ;) good luck !!

Sometimes I wish I knew more about UCSC before I came here, but at the end of the day, I love how different it is from other universities. had a friend do the same, planned to transfer from UCSB to UCLA because of the horrible drug/alcohol issues at the school. hopefully the UC’s can fix their problems to make a comfortable and safe environment for all students. It takes time to take those steps, but those steps could help make better changes
I went to UCSC class of 2007. It sucked so much. I didn’t enjoy my experience there. I should have stayed in SoCal and went to CSUF instead. Better yet, skip college and just get my real estate license. No one told me you didn’t need a college degree to make an income. All my life I was told by my teachers and mom to go to college to get a job. This is a big lie.
I have the utmost faith that this was the best decision you could have made. All things really do happen for a reason and you got a lot out of that experience, which is exactly why you had to go for that particular season.

I had a really interesting and impacted UC admissions process and I am going to UCSC this fall as a freshman and still deciding wether to transfer or not. Luckily, I am a CS major and there are way more resources available for my major. However, after touring the campus twice, I just cannot imagine myself there for two plus years. @@nefspitou it just depends on which cc tbh but 99% of the time yes it is. my friends that go to or have gone to the cc closest to our neighborhood have a tougher time transferring bc the cc closest to me is one of the hardest cc’s in socal. i ultimately decided not to go to cc bc of family reasons and how competitive the cc near me is but it’s rly ur decision
@@nefspitou not rly rn i’m just going w the flow bc tbh the cs program at ucsc is truly rly rly good and since it’s so close to silicon valley, u have so many more opportunities available to u. plus they have a gr8 stem 5 year masters/phd program. i rly have to experience it this upcoming school year to know whether i want to transfer but if i was to transfer i would only transfer to one of the highest ranking uc’s bc of just the resources available to cs kids at ucsc
im also struggling with the same thing right now. I committed to ucsc unaware of the unorganized housing situation and i honestly accepted their admissions because i felt so pressured to go to a uc school rather than a cal state or community college. im from San Diego and location is also a big thing and i don’t think I’m ready to leave here lol. im still indecisive with the fact of attending ucsc even though I already accepted their admissions and wondering if i should just go to community college instead or just transfer after 2 years at ucsc. we move onto campus in a couple months😭🫤
@@amandatran7379 I actually committed to Concordia University of Irvine for athletics. If I was still in this situation I would’ve chosen community college first and then transfer. Don’t put your money into something you’re unsure about or anything that you know deep down you don’t want. I wish you all the best with whatever you all choose! We all have different journeys.

I haven't taken any APs yet, but I have taken 2 honors classes and senior year I am taking 3 APs. However, I have good extra circulars. Do you know if I have a chance or is it harder now to get into UCSC?
you should be fine i applied last fall n got in and i only took about 4-5 honors classes n 2 APs in high school. this was my dream school so wishing u the best of luck 😭💗

Imma pre law major, originally double major criminal justice and political science but change to Criminal justice (concentration criminal legal) ahumdillah im a musllim like u, male revert but dorming on campus for us Muslim so horrors, Roomates low key islamaphobic, a lot of not halal or zabiha food, wierd eyes when u go too pray or tell them u can’t touch opposite gender or be alone with them or hang with them when they go drinking partying etc Mann it’s tough here ahumdillah

don't stress it has a high acceptance rate you should be fine just do well on your piq questions
Every year the acceptance rate has actually been going up so don't sweat it and just focus on writing bomb essays.
