Marigold garlands are used in Hindu temples and festivals. Here in India, we do it a lot
Oh yes...and they look so incredible. I thought the garland was so pretty. I bet that is quite a beautiful sight to see tons of marigolds in the temples. Wow!
What do the marigolds represent? Or are they just used for their beauty?
The colors are very autumnal. It would be nice if the dried flowers last until then.
You are right. This would make a wonderful autumn decoration. Thanks for watching the video.
Looks lovely, I would never have thought about using the flowers from the garden to make a garland, now I will thanks !
Thanks so much. If you make something, I'd love to share it on the community tab.
What a great fun video🎉 Love the orange color🏵️🏵️🏵️🏵️

Hi Sue, I lived in Hawaii 1971-79 and Plumeria was the main flower used. But towards the end of our years there the tour company began using Marigolds. Beautiful 😍
I hope you're doing well
❤Peggy❤

Sue, that's so gorgeous. Your marigolds are so tall. Love how it ages too. I thought you would thread through the bottom only but this makes sense so it looks good on both sides. Happy gardening, Jo

I love this!
Thanks so much. It was so fun to make and I think it looks cool in the garden.
What a lovely idea! The garland looks so pretty. I wonder if the is a way to dry the flowers in silica and use the garland as a fall decoration… I love your creativity and please would like to see more projects. Thank you!!!❤
Hi Bernadette,
That is a great question about drying the marigolds in silica. I am going to try that. I will post the results to the community tab so you can see how they turn out. Thanks for the suggestion. I agree that this garland is perfect for fall decoration. I am going to try making one for the fireplace mantel. I will have to soak the flowers in water first to make sure I don't get any "uninvited" visitors. How is your garden season going?
Sue, very interesting flower garland idea.
These flowers are used as spices for meat.
I also like Pinterest, I will be glad to find your page there.
I had no idea they were used as spices for meat. I love learning about flowers. When I was researching for this video I read on the Burpee Seed website that the first mention of marigolds is found in an Aztec Herbal dated back to 1552. The Herbal recommended marigolds for the treatment of hiccups, being struck by lightening, or "for one who wishes to cross a river or water safely". I think the history of plants is so interesting don't you?
@@GardenMoxieYes. This is very interesting. Especially how plants travel the world.
The poetry about plants is also beautiful.
@@GardenMoxieTagetes are used for medicinal purposes (decoctions, infusions), as well as for marinades, sauces and pastries. In the Caucasus, tagetes are used to make cooking powder, called Imereti saffron. In France, flowers are grown on an industrial scale, as they are in great demand among gourmets, they are used in marinades.
@@polinpolin7017 Fantastic. I would love to see marigolds growing on an industrial scale. I bet that is a beautiful sight.
Marigold Garlands Are Very Popular in Pakistan and India❤
They are beautiful!
Very nice , I was planning to do this in the fall , specially for dia de Los muertos (day of the death) in Mexico , reminds me my hometown when they use a lot of marigolds for decoration.
Great idea! I bet your hometown looks incredible all decorated with marigolds. Thanks for checking out the video. I hope your garden season is going well.
@@GardenMoxie you can’t look día de los muertos In Oaxaca méxico . They have videos on UA-cam. My garden is doing alright, is been so hot my flowers are struggling, I need a sprinkler system or irrigation 😊
@@thegonzalezs4953 Hot summers are tough. I will definitely check out your videos.
Beautiful! Great idea! I wonder if they can be sprayed with Mod Podge to retain shape? Maybe make it last a bit longer? I have never tried anything like this, so I'm wondering out of total ignorance. Lol!
Thank you. Good question! I am not sure. @bernadettelanzillo8776 suggested drying them in silica which I am going to try. I will post the results to the community tab if you are interested in seeing the results. I hope it works.
Nice. Did you start the marigolds from seed?
I did start the marigolds from seed in Spring. Such a fun project.
Perhaps you need an India inspired section of the garden
Maybe a big Vishnu statue😁😁
Thanks for checking out the video.
My garden is more than pretty flowers, please check but your plants are realy amazing :)))
Thanks so much for checking out the video.
