I thought that the Royal jewels belonging to the portuguese royal families were richer than what is shown here. Some years ago many exquisite and rich portuguese royal jewels were stolen in an exposition held in Holand. Those jewels were never seen again !
You must take into account that a significant amount of the Portuguese crown jewels were sold off by António, Prior of Crato during his exile after 1681, when Philip II of Spain invaded Portugal to claim its throne after the death of Henry of Aviz. Then in 1807, during the Napoleonic invasion of Portugal, both the French and the Spaniards sacked the country and stole veritable treasures. The Portuguese Crown jewels were truly fabulous and much of that wealth can now be found in France, England, germany and Scandinavia.

Da Silva( derived from Latin it means “forest” or “wood” ) is the most common last name in Portugal as it is in Brazil. All that wealth came from the forest alright, the Brazilian forest.
