A 'ten cent pistol' is when a drug (typically heroin) is deliberately poisoned to kill somebody.
A "ten cent pistol" isn't actually a pistol.
The name refers to using household chemicals (usually cleaners, which were sold in small packets of powder for ten cents back in the 1960's and 70's) to commit an acid attack (though some say the chemicals were also used to spike heroin and cocaine, killing the user)
