Back in those days, both Porter Wagoner and Hee Haw ran first-run on weekends in syndication, and my family faithfully watched both (along with Buck Owens Show). When this episode came on, my mother howled and cracked up at this number..."I don't believe he knows any other song!" (As Hee Haw viewers know very well, Archie Campbell performed that number seemingly every week on the show.)
First Buck Owens leaving Hee Haw in March 1986 and then the next year we lost Archie Campbell in August 1987. That was the end of Hee Haw in my humble opinion and in Roy Clark's opinion he stated interviewed years later.
When i was in the service my squad was sitting around in a fairly safe spot as far as safe spots go everybody was kinda tense so i started singing a verse i made up to this song and when it came to the chorus all 7 of my guys sounded off! The 2 prisoners we was holding both started crying and babbling it was epic! GO NAVY
Ole Porter Wagoner...brings back many fond memories, and Carrol County Accident is still a favorite of mine...along with The Cold Hard Facts of Life.Gone like yesterday.
And this would go on to birth Hee Haw, a show of skits, shorts, songs and joy aimed at the farmfolk that feed us every day with their hard work and long hours. God Bless You Archie Campbell, God Bless You.
My grandma used to watch hee haw I only remembered a few lyrics and its kinda nastalgic cus I heard it wene I was 6 sadly my grandma has passed but he haw rules
LOL. This is still fun to watch. Hee Haw picked this up and what a hoot. Fun to see Tammy Wynette and George Jones and Johnny Cash being a guest on this segment when it was on Hee Haw. Funny and still makes me laugh. Wished we had more fun innocent entertainment. Thank God for UA-cam and this posting. Little on TV is even enjoyable anymore.
And, unusual for a show like this(not Porter, but Hee Haw) was when freakin' Roy Clark would get out thw fiddle and play...Classical Chopin and such, and beautifully, too. The man was truly musically talented, and technically so very skilled(banjo, flat top, mandoline, fiddle, whatever). Buck Owens and Roy Clark together, what a hoot. Yep Saturday nights was with ritual Hee Haw and oh How High could you go, toking on a number, sitting on them sacko' seeds. Sorry, creative blending there, Jim Stafford tune.
What's amazing is that until these clips showed up here (and I happened across 'em) I hadn't seen any of these since the early runs of Hee Haw, and I still remember this silly song.
My grandma dated Archie Campbell. Then she dumped him for my grandpa.story goes I asked relatives. It was based on her . I didn't think it was true but my relatives even Grandpa confirmed it.

who is the gentleman in the green hat? he is killing me. this is the sort of country i grew up around as a child in the 70s in Oklahoma, this is a lifestyle that is basically gone now. the country music and scene of today is unrecognizable to me. these good natured small town people just wanting to enjoy themselves and laugh, are now looked upon by revisionist history as just dumb old racists and it is sickening thats what is being done to the legacy of rural America.

no way!1971 first show and after major network run(Saturdays, I think) whadda they call it,uh ....serialised? no, syndicated, for its popularity, while not enough to sell tons of whatever, via then weekly but enough later for hee haw and soul train to both be enjoyed after over the air major network stints. Maybe cable runs on say, TVLand(I loved Green Acres on Nick at night years ago, Arnold the pig was smarter than the whole bunch in Hooterville, and Oliver while city folk smart, had no clue how to deal with their shenanigans and it really was so funny when every other character semed to be on the same page, except him, even the most unlikely astutable(a real word?) issue. Lisa ended shows with. This has been a [I forget]screen gems, maybe, presentation, dahlink
I miss this time in history and all of these entertainers, they had class
I'm not sure that was exactly class, but it IS fun, and it IS a classic.
@@JeffDeWitt Yes, it's hard to see how joking about spitting on someone is classy. But we do recall this song with joy.
Now THIS was decent television!!
Back when humor was just there to entertain. Those days are nearly gone.

Couldn't agree more!!! That was actually great comedy!!
Yep! That is what I call a classic ... even back then during the classical times of country music.
I am 23, my daddy and I used to watch hee haw all the time. Thank you so much for making this playlist. It helps me remember him.
Our good friend Archie Campbell! Miss him!
So fun...like it used to be once upon a time, without profanity but only good taste, simplicity and sense of humor
Es waren Profis durch und durch.

r/thathappened
These performers and the people they entertained are all gone. This slice of americana is history.
NOT ALL of the people they entertained are gone! A lot of us viewers of Hee Haw are still alive, Me being one of them.
Same, I'm still around. Of course I was a kid in the 90's so I caught the very tail end of the run of Hee-Haw but I've seen many re-runs
I take that back, I was a kid during the 90's when it was in re-runs on TNN. I guess it's currently still airing re-runs on RFD-TV
And yet, here I am. 💖

If anyone was wondering, the guy on the left in the hat is Speck Rhodes and the other guy is "Little" Jack Little
From West Plains Missouri!
I would love to see Archie Campbell do this with Dolly Parton--too bad he isn't around any more... :(
My favorite song lol
I thought it originated on "Hee Haw". I learn something new each day.
Omg this was awesome!!!
Porter Wagoner's glam hair wow!
I love Porter's Nudie Suit!
I think this was on the air back in 1968. A precursor to "The Hee-Haw Show".
I watched this as a kid in the 70's but it may have been reruns
My grandma used to watch hee haw I only remembered a few lyrics and its kinda nastalgic cus I heard it wene I was 6 sadly my grandma has passed but he haw rules
Reminds Me Of Hee Haw & Reminds Me Of All Those Times Spending In The Country
Love Archie Campbell!

Speck Rhodes was always hilarious!!
At 1:43, Archie sang about all the kids. Buck Owens and son Buddy did that on their album, with a little different words.
Simply wonderful
rip archie the world is a lot less funny without you in it you made hee haw.
Love it.
To me that song is ALWAYS funny 😅😅😅😅
This was Archie Campbell's running gag before Hee Haw! You just don't get this on TV anymore! 😂😄
The Guy on the right was in real life Billy Baily he was a musician could play many instruments and did back up work for many Nashville bands.

I just thought of something, Did Archie Campbell look similar to James Doohan?, Because both were Canadian.
Gordie Tapp was Canadian as was Don Harron (Charlie Farquharson). But don't think Archie was.
what year was this show I would like to know
+bill blair Was the first edition of the Porter Wagoner TV Show so early 1960s.
+Darin Cates Porter wasn't color in early years!
I remember watching it the year before I graduated so that was 1965. Don't know how long it had been running though.
1933
