- Who would win in a canonical fight between Greninja from Pokemon and Diddy Kong, the musical chimpnee of Congo Bongo Island from the Donkey Kong universe? Today we break down both of their abilities and have an animated battle to figure out that answer. Smash Bracket is an animated Vs Battle series created by InkThinks dedicated to answering the question... Who is canonically the strongest character in Super Smash Bros History?

When Diddy said "It's Kongin' time" and Konged all over Greninja, it truly became an episode of all time for me
-I was gonna use "peanut-pop" instead of "Kong" for the joke but after a second of reading what I had just written elected not to lmao-
@@SmashBracket can you do Sheik vs Greninja or Sora vs Shulk
@@RedMooshroom42 Shiek vs Greninja could be cool, but based on what little I know of Kingdom Hearts, that wouldn't be fair to Sora. Shulk has future sight and universal feats thanks to the ending of Xenoblade 1 since he literally killed a god.

No diddy win by calling sans and got a hot dog
I want to clarify that the calculation that Ink showed for Diddy Kong crashing into the moon was only accounting for the power required to make the moon wiggle by one pixel. So even with an extreme lowball, it was 6 billion times higher than anything else Diddy had. If we were to actually calculate it getting knocked out of the sky, it would be even higher.
Don't you know that special days where you knock the moon out of the sky, it for some reason isn't even bigger than a jungle but you need multiple hits to destroy a airplane? Can relate
@@exi_dudi2037 That's obviously because the airplane was made of Moon
@@counterfeitlemon I think King rool is made of moon as well. BUT THAT'S JUST A THEORY. A GAME THEORY
Greninja is a tactical character with many tools at his disposal, he can break the laws of physics, he's a mix of tactical manoeuvre and brute force with sharp elegance at the forefront! 😎 !

Smash bracket makes the fact that my memory sucks actually fun, cause I forget what episodes are in development and then get super hyped when I get notifications
Honestly, I was confused when I saw this out
If you think about it, Greninja shouldn't have been abre to steal Diddy's potion, as he was already holding the mystic water. But I guess not being abre to steal becuase you already have an item is as illogical as needing a specific move to steal the item
I mean to be fair greninja did even go ash greninjs
Cant you steal an item but just not grab it if you have an item?
That’s not how it works

I feel like you are one the first Vs battle I have seen with Diddy Kong that gets his personally right! He isn't just a monkey (dissipate how he is portrayed in Smash Bors.), but I fun loving kid how is still trying to figure out how the world works! AMAZING work with portraying the characters (honestly, don't know why I keep getting surprised by your work)!
Fun fact trick and switcheroo are moves that allow you to swap or take items from the opponent
When I first heard of this fight, I didn't think that I would enjoy it but this blew me away. Definitely one of my favorite smash fights (along with Kirby vs Jigglypuff and Pikachu vs Pacman). I'm a bit bias since greninja is my main and my all time favorite pokemon but this was an awesome battle regardless.
A fellow Greninja main!? I'm not the only one I'm existance!?! Impossible...
@@braylenswain4017 Nope, the impossible is possible. I see another greninja has made an appearance. Looks like I'm not alone.
Greninga should have lost.
@@wiiu-theunderratedconsole7569 no
@@Masterxhaley Yes. They had to buff him by giving him 80+ moves which is obviously impossible for a Pokémon to have that many and assuming that Greninga was capable of using Diddy Kong’s items. Additionally, they did the opposite for Diddy and called his best feat an outlier just because it didn’t please them
You almost scared the life out of me with that car shot
dude, can i just say THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE, your channel is INSANE?? came from ur schraff video and I came upon your million underated works, like there's absolutely no way I thought this existed a few minutes ago, THE EFFORT IN EVERY VIDEO?? GOOD SIR THAN YOU FOR UR EXISTANCE
Greninjas ability to steal items makes him a real dark horse depending on the matchup. Super star? His now. Chaos emerald? His now
Mario or Sonic are way faster than Greninga so no.
Dang, I thought Diddy would have won because of the moon feat. But I can respect your reasoning for not really including it when comparing it to all their other feats.
GG, Greninja. But future battles will push you to your limit!
As for next time, it may as well just be Steve and Alex fighting. Zombies are straight up cannon fodder. And while an Enderman can be intimidating at first with their erratic nature and teleporting away from all projectiles, they’re not so bad against an experienced Minecraft adventurer with good equipment. Which I’m assuming you’ll treat Steve and Alex as such.
Not many people know this, but for the Minecraft Battle Royale, the Smash Bracket Team will be taking the novels into account. So don’t count out the Enderman and Zombies just yet 😉
@@Gamer_27yt
There are Minecraft novels? How can what happens in them possibly help Zombie and Enderman?
I love how expressive the animation was, the sprites were great and I loved the slapstick-style combat.
The animated bits are looking slick. Looking forward to seeing that evolve in the future.
This analysis got me wondering about something random. How does the ground type Z-move work in the anime? That one was always pretty insane looking in Sun and Moon.
This was soooooo good man I can’t wait for the rest keep up the good work!
Fight was so smooth! Loved it. Good work to everyone who worked on it, as always.
Diddy Kong: **exists in general vicinity**
Greninja: "So anyways, I started Water Shurikening-"
At the end of Donkey Kong Country Returns, if you beat the final boss with only Diddy, he slams his head so hard into the moon that it falls out of orbit.
I feel like if we're gonna exclude things like Diddy knocking the moon out of orbit, we shouldn't really count Greninja's "durability" surviving things like Z moves in the anime. Greninja is built like a glass canon in the games, not a Pokemon with high endurance. (72 base HP, 67 base defense, 71 base sp. def)
Plus he's Dark type which is weak to Fighting. Diddy Kong uses a ton of hand to hand fighting and acrobatics, so Greninja should be getting KO'd even faster.
Greninja is also balanced around having four move slots, and Thief can't be used while already holding an item (Mystic Water).
This fight did Diddy more justice than most people give him, but it really skewed Greninja a little too strong if you ask me.
They are just biased towards Pokemons. A Pokémon cannot learn 80 moves at the same time. And Diddy’s durability was higher.
@@wiiu-theunderratedconsole7569 "a pokemon cannot learn 80 moves at the same time"
That's called game mechanics, but anyway, the real problem here is that they used ANIME feats. That's non canon.
@@cbfranco3307 That’s what I meant! In the games a Pokémon can only learn four moves and it’s not a game mechanic.
@@cbfranco3307 They can't only use game feats because it is nearly impossible to calculate them

well, i'm sad Diddy lost, but at least it wasn't gory, and the music track rocks.
looking forward to the godly Minecraft Battle Royale, especially the Music track Skye will make for the Royale
@David Goldammer it could be anything, but it would be nice if they remixed one of the original Minecraft themes like Sweden or Pigstep
The battle was epic to see, I never thought I've ever see the fight like this, but it's nothing compared to the fights from Sephiroth vs Mewtwo and Ryu vs Lucario those were breath taking, but I do give credit for what you and the others did for fight and I like it a lot so good job.
Is nobody going to point out that thief doesn’t work with a held item?
It’s sad to see Diddy dying to greninja, despite me loving him. I really love this fight cause not only did it study their strength, ability, etc but they also have NICE art style!
Don't worry, he's not dead. He just got bonked by his own guitar.

These battles keep getting better and better, I can’t wait for the next one! I really wanted diddy Kong to win, cooler character than greninja IMO, fight me comments section. But I can’t argue with the great research you and your team do, I was able to have ryu beat lucario, so I had to take some loss. TL:DR, this battle was great, can’t wait for the Minecraft fight and the alternate ending to this one👍🏻
Greninja is awesome, but I hate his analysis of the Pokémon using anime stuff. Like wow, Greninja survived a Z-move that it’s type is resistant too? 🙄

Very excited for Minecraft BR, and hoping for a Hero BR also. Keep up the fantastic work!
Hmmm, personally I don't like considering things outliers, since in my opinion if it happened then it happened (I believe Ben Singer of Death Battle once said something similar in a Q&A,) but that's just my personal opinion. Can't complain anyway, my preferred character won lol. Solid episode overall!
Oh thank goodness, I don’t have to choose between two of my mains (yet). I’ll admit I was expecting the villager vs Steve matchup, but this works to.

Growl should work on the peanut gun. Moves like breaking swipe still lower the power of decidueye's spirit shackle, in which he uses a bow. The bow's power wouldn't be affected if attack lowering moves didn't impact weapons.

So are you going to use Donkey Kong's moon punch feat in DK vs Bowser? I feel like if he doesn't have that then the fight would be a wrap

@@jaxonjaxon1069 Some serious mental gymnastics comes into play if DK gets the moon punch, as both scenes are functionally identical.

wait a minute... 13:13 you forgot the donkey kong barrel blast games and diddy kong racing!!!!!!! what do you mean he has no areal skills???
Ink: "We're not using the moon feat 'cause it's clearly a comedic scene and the physics don't make sense"
Also Ink: "tHe PeAnUtS tRaVeL fAsTeR tHaN sOuNd"
It's almost like the Donkey Kong series' style is inherently cartoon-ish and slapstick-y with unusual physics! I also want to point out that Diddy survives the explosion that launched him and DK to the moon in the first place.
The peanuts are much more consistent than the moon feat the peanuts aren’t used for gags they are used for gameplay but the moon feats are because if they were to count the moon feat even if it was to move one pixel it would be 6 billion times stronger than anything diddy has done also when did ink say that peanuts traveled faster than sound he said it was faster than most speed limits which is much much slower than the speed of sound
He is correct, it’s common knowledge that sound moves at 68mph
@@SmashBracket The faster than sound bit was a bit of hyperbole on my part. The point is peanuts moving faster than cars doesn't make much sense from a physics standpoint, yet you used that despite discounting the moon feat for being weird physics-wise. I realize that's not the main reason for not using it, but it's still odd to me to even bring it up when little about the DK series' cartoon-ish presentation makes sense from a physics POV.

yo this series is sick and I agree with most of the rules and I do disagree that anime should count but thats just my opinion but I feel like the pokemon should only have 4 moves as in the anime and games.
I'd be lying if I said I was surprised.
As a Greninja main and a Diddy Kong secondary I enjoyed this video very much!!
One thing I've always found weird about these series is how everyone calculates durability and power. While this isn't true for pokemon, a lot of video game series classify durability in number of hits instead of force projected, which I think needs to be taken in to account. This essentially gives characters a set damage cap, meaning they can take any attack, no matter its strength, and have it count as one hit against them. This is why in games like mario, lava is such a powerful enemy, not because it creates a force that's dramatically greater than other things that can hit mario, but because Mario has no way of getting out of the lava, which means he will continuously take one point of damage at a time until his life total runs out.
Diddy's moon scene makes sense when put in this context. He simply took one point of damage while hitting the moon. The actual force of impact is completely and utterly irrelevant.
That was such an awesome battle. It’s sad though that Diddy Kong was fighting a way more skilled opponent. I appreciate that he was only knocked out instead of brutally murdered or beaten
What your analyzing as diddy shooting the ground with his pop gun, i always thought that was just him slapping the ground
Dang I didn't even think I needed a fight like this. This was awesome hey can you enter Sora from Kingdom Hearts. You guys have the same potential as Death Battle has. Keep up the good work.
6:23 just seeing this video clip gave me PTSD
Y'know, this makes me wonder what feats they'll give Luigi. I mean, he technically has the same abilities as Mario, but I don't know if they'll scale him to Mario.
Unless he fought pac-man lugigi cant use his mansion games

When diddywas stuck in the vines I was scared greninja would just rip him apart
I thought it was gonna be a Tarzan death
Lol same but I'm glad my boi has honor
I was too, but Pokémon battles are until the K.O, so it makes sense to Greninja to just do that
Finally someone who doesn’t use the moon scene as proof of their strength.(knuckles vs donkey Kong)
5 Pokémon Battles in a row lol
Next time is pretty obvious.
Steve kills zombies with his bare hands on a daily basis, it's, his full Arsenal is way more than enough to kill an underman and Steve has way more experience than Alex.
Since Stephen Alex have the same abilities II guess it doesn't really matter who wins? Either way Steve or Alex both beat villager and that makes me happy.
Yes, even with bracket rules Steve should win. Without them it's even worse for villager
Anyways, this episode was great and I was very surprised with the outcome, yet you've convinced me. Keep up the fantastic work!
I mean, it's entirely possible for an enderman to kill Steve and same with a zombie.
@@nightmare3642 Well yea, but if these characters are at their best then yea Steve or Alex win.
I 100% understand why this channel is "underrated"
It feels so biased in a lot of battles. All the previous Pokemon battles had an extreme biased towards the Pokemon. Even going so far as to ignore basic facts in favor of the Pokemon.
Like having more than four moves, saying moves are more deadly than they actually are, interactions with beings that are not Pokemon, and in this battle, he is capable of using basically alien weapons
AND HE CAN DRINK POTIONS WHICH POKEMON CANNOT DO
then why can I literally use a potion on my Pokemon
Literally only 2 Pokémon have won. Pikachu and Greninja. How is that bias
They ignore the 4 move limit because it's a lame gameplay mechanic. They aren't limited to 4 in the anime. If you wanna use gameplay mechanics for Pokémon, you have to for everyone, and that's lame. Do you wanna see Diddy die in two hits, because thats how it is in game?
@@davidgoldammer348 Your Pokémon can't use a potion on itself
@@Rablat333Just because only 2 have won, doesn't make it not bias. They gave Pokémon more leeway than they should have.
Plus the biggest thing, pokemon are weak af, ash has gotten electrocuted thousands of times by moves that KO'd pokemon. People get hit by hyperbeams and get sent a few feet into a wall. Either humans are strong as all hell in pokemon, or pokemon are weak af.
And if people are just durable, then there is no way to compare our reality, or Diddy's, or Pokemon's to one another because the fabric in which they are built on isn't the same.
@@Cascade92 except they give other characters way more leeway than what they have to Pokémon.
Pacman got lasers and elemental effects from spin offs, Fox got his multi-player only weapons(Which even they agreed was too far), Mega Man wasn't limited to 8 abilities, and Marth got to use weapons he usually shouldn't be able too. They give everyone the same amount of leeway.
Just because they sometimes behave differently, doesn't mean that's how weak or strong they are. Do you really think Pikachu zaps Ash with the same amount of power he used to destroy the rock formation? You can't dismiss a characters strength because of comedic moments or because "hur dur this one time this thing happened that was never brought up again"
And that's the thing about VS debating. Yeah, they're very different. Which is why the only way we can compare them is using a ground both can be compared too, which is real world logic.
Is it weird how people can get hit by a hyper beam and live? Sure. But that's just how it is in that reality. I wouldn't say it's any weirder than a gorilla being able to cause earthquakes, a ball of pink mass hitting a meteor 999 light yards away, or a hedgehog going light speed. But these universes being so different is why we compare them, and why we need to compare them to real world scenarios to see who's stronger.
I liked the Ninjago reference, Ninjago battle royale one day?
As soon as I saw that Greninja could steal items I knew that's the key to victory
Oh, the next match is going to be interesting. Steve and Alex are basically evenly matched.
The next match is wario vs lucas
@@Mac1081 ok
I think Greninja cheated with the potion because it's in DIDDY'S ARSENAL
Greninja used Thief tho which is a move that allows its user to steal and use their opponent's tools and items.
@@molonjamesbert4796 Good point but I have a counter. Greninja is the frog pokemon yes? The potion is made of GOLDEN BANANAS which is a stretch to be edible even by a carpet frog
Greninga cheated because he cannot use the stealing ability if he already have an object and he already had one.
@@wiiu-theunderratedconsole7569 Your right!

I haven't finished the episode, I just got to the end of the Greninja segment and I gotta wonder. Greninja's ability Protean didn't get discussed and it was a huge part in letting Greninja break into the pokemon meta. I hope it was considered. Now back to the episode
We considered it, but Battle Bond turned out to be the more relevant ability to get access to better feats
@@SmashBracket I just finished the episode! It was great 👍
Diddy can take a lot of damage from things like getting shot out of a barrel and crashing through a rock, but if he bumps into a crocodile he gets hurt. My theory is that Diddy is immune to blunt force, but weak to sharper objects, which is a terrible weakness against Greninja.
Umm no, that’s simply a game mechanic. For example, Mario survives a super nova in a cutscene, but in gameplay he dies from koopas and such. The reason that happens is that without being able to die in a game, it shows no challenge
Hmm a Minecraft battle royale now we're talking
Also loved the Lloyd Garmedon reference XD
Other fights finish with brutal deaths, but this one ends with a *bonk*
Thats what we call “Near-Accurate Representation of characters!” In all seriousness i’m glad this rule is in place. A lot of characters in smash bros are shown as Light-Hearted Pacifist’s And With the other series Super Smackdown having the Likes of Master Oogway, Steven Universe and Batman i think the Accurate Character Representation train will continue.
and taking into account that this is with the help of a trainer, greninja could have protean which makes all of his moves do 50% more damage and change his type, or battle bond which significantly boosts his stats
Seriously no battle bond man that’s unfortunate was looking forward to that but I’m sure the battle will still be epic
Ninja Kermit VS Monke! sounds like fun!
I wished Diddy Kong won, but still a very good fight animation. Hope the alternate ending comes soon, and at least I finally get to see him in a vs animation.
Diddy King should have won but you really shouldn’t take this to seriously as they just choose who is their favorite character and make him win. They even said that Kirby vs Jigglypuff was “an incredibly close fight” which is just stupid.
@@wiiu-theunderratedconsole7569 yeah I shouldn't take this seriously. Plus they do alternate endings, which they've did that with Diddy Kong vs Greninja. So it's not like these outcomes bother me.
They said it was a close fight because Jigglypuff could poison or cofuse Kirby.
@@CARTER_IS_CUTE well that's mainly because they don't do power scaling in their rules.
But they do?
This was a great episode. It doesn't stack up to Pikachu vs Pac Man but it isn't bad whatsoever. Next time though, is my most anticipated fight. Due to it's potential alone.
the pokemon in this series are overpowered considering canon says a pokemon can only remember four moves at a time.
Thats just a game mechanic. Sometimes in the anime this rule is broken. and also in the entirety of the manga, this rule doesn't exist
@@davidgoldammer348 Good to know that the anime and manga come first in the canon of a video game franchise. I wonder why the games exist at all?
@@michaelwilson4289 we wanted to composite them. and it has been shown to be a game mechanic. So we use more than four moves.
