I have the 2019 version of this bike (Advanced Pro 0 with 11sp Ultegra Di2 and a power meter). It's fantastic: very well made, surprisingly light, extremely stable and very, very comfortable. You can use it as a light gravel bike but it's fast enough to keep up with most any group ride. IMO, one of the best all-around road bikes on the market.

Would you mind telling me whether a traditional rack and panniers can fit onto the bike. The revolt over era a seat tube collar which allows one to connect a rack to it. Just wondered if this is something you have pondered? Many thanks.

I have 10,000 km on my 2018 Advanced Pro 0 and I've been very happy with this bike. I do wish mine had a bit more tire clearance and fender mounts, but other than that I'm hoping I'll be able to put another 10k on the bike in the future.
I've thought about getting a newer, updated bike, but at 72 I doubt I'll ever be able to equal my bike's potential.

What on earth is happening to the bike industry? Giant report profits are down 49%. The Defy has traditionally been viewed as their budget friendly range, yet the bottom of the range Tiagra equipped Advance 3 is £2300!! The £6000 Defy model is being dubbed as the 'Best Value'.... hmmm.... Do we need Sherlock on the case?

David, when you test the Advance Pro 0 it would be helpful if you could share your evaluation of the Power Meter. GP Lama just did a blistering review of a Shimano Power Meter... Also, curious about how tall you are. I also ride Giant bikes and am between M and M/L and need to think about which way to go. Overall, and desipite my comment about the power meter, I prefer Shimano and can see no reason why one would pay twice as much for a very similar bike with Sram. I live in the SF Bay Area, with lots of rollers and climbs (ie. 3-6 miles), flat sections are very limited. Generally 2 to 4 hour rides, at a brisk (but non-race) pace. I'm 67 and 130lbs. Would like a bike that is responsive and comfortable at the same time (which many reviewers tout as the positives for the Aethos). Primarily road riding, no significant plans for gravel. I realize the Aethos has a race geometry similar to the Tarmac, but considering it accommodates a traditional bar/stem, I can match/exceed the taller stack and shorter reach of the new Defy. Thanks!

“Half the price, half the performance?” Don’t we all wish, because then the converse would also be true. I could trade in my $1000 Allez for a $12,000 Defy SL and magically increase my average speed from 24 km/hr to 284 km/hr.
Buy the bike that costs nearly as much as a car. Go all in for aero. Go tubeless. Wax your chain. Wear a skin suit. Wear aero socks. Still at the end of the day, it’s not nearly as much about the bike as it is about the engine. Sepp Kuss would still beat me if he were riding a tricycle.

IMO £6,000 of dullness! How does any bike cost 6k? I've been cycling for years and there's nothing there that warrants that much money. A cheap carbon frame, some hookless death trap wheels which are cheaper to make and some cheap Giant own brand parts. Not even decent tyres for 6k. The only thing on that bike worth having is the Ultegra. I bought a Carbon Giant Revolt last year with electronic gearing on it for £3,000 and the more I think about it the more I think even that is overpriced and I was ripped off. Don't even get me started on the almost £12k defy!

Started cycling 15 years ago in my fifties. Only ever buy used bikes. Got a 5 year-old Ribble r872 carbon full Ultegra for £250 the other day. New prices are ridiculous - if you're paying them you've had your head messed with.

6K 😂😂😂 I’ve just purchased a Colnago C64, disc brakes, Campag SR for £2500. It was an 11K build in 2020 by its previous owner. The industry needs those who are willing to spend 6K on a massively overpriced bicycle, those that spend 12K really are a special kind of….

Kudos for reviewing a (relatively) more affordable bike. Frustrating when it's only top end bikes that are reviewed.
Any chance of reviewing the Scott Addict? Keen to see how that compares to the new Defy as another example of a speedier endurance bike.
    Keep up the good work

    • @Flexo_l
      @Flexo_l Рік тому

@@davidarthur in that test you said that giant is cheaper and better in value for money. But when you compare prices actualy is Endurace who gets you the most for the money. I know that UK prices are different then EU prices but still. 1k is a lot of money even if giant is a little bit better, you can pimp the canyon or you get full riding kit for yourself and still have money left for next season 😅

@@Flexo_l When I made that video I reference the CF SLX 7 105 Di2 which at the time of making the video wasn't as good value as the Giant. Obviously I can only compare UK prices and they do change around the world, we have Brexit and import tax to thank for higher prices :(

I think the most overvalued part of recent bikes is drive train. Di2 .. Ultegra.. yeah it is good. But more than $15,00 on it... Really that valuable?
I think $700 is just enough .. or even less..
I will never understand that Ultegra or dura-ace version of drive train are more that $2,000.
Yeah it is pro version , so it`s price should be, but for most people.. isnt it just marketing?
Bike Industry is just "assembling" industry.
carbon frames, carbon wheels.. maybe.. those are the only part they can make profits.
If simano , sram ,campa are not dicount their part, the bike prices can not go down.
My opinion about it is that Chinese Ltwoo or others will replaces shimano, Sram
Few customers still use overvalued Shimano , Sram , but majority will be chinese one.
