Apparently, Tallulahs last words whilst dying in hospital were 'Bourbon, Codeine' in that order! I can relate to that! They just don't make legends like her today! And it's always great to see Hugh Herbert! It's such a shame she didn't make more films, but she preferred the stage and the bright lights of Broadway. Bette Davis ''channelled” Tallulah in 'All About Eve', even down to the dress she wore.
Ok, That looked dangerous. That took some balance not to have that silk cloth to slip out from under her while she was standing on the piano acting unstable.
Even though I recognize her name, I’ve never seen a movie she’s been in. In this clip I see a little of Bette Davis in her, or rather Tallulah Bankhead in Bette Davis.
I too would love to see the entire film. Wasnt Tallulah great in this scene? Very vivacious bubbling lovely acting, untill now ive only seen her in Hitchcocks movie Life boat and she was a treat to wartch in there.
She was truly mad. Her laugh was diabolical--I love how she effortlessly careens from mad revelry to deep despair at the very end. She had a brilliant stage career (it was probably too much for buttoned down Hollywood to know what to do with all that manic brilliance) but trashed it all through booze and pills and promiscuity and self-caricature. She was a woman whose talent was fueled by demons of self-destruction. Fiercely intelligent, she could brandish that subversive wit to poke fun of the staid conformity of the day and giggle in her champagne at her own naughtiness. How I wish her Regina Giddens in The Little Foxes had been committed to film for posterity. Bette Davis was good but Tallulah would have been epic. There's no one remotely like her today.
Exactly, Wyler had too much control on the character portrayal of Regina in the film version. Bette Davis did an spectacular job, but the character still felt somehow flat (even herself agreed so). If only Tallulah’s version was recorded…
@@terry4137 Maybe for you... She was certainly a beauty in most people's eyes... And she wasn't the only big mouth in Hollywood back then, she was much more than that, she was a great actress...

My favorite of her lines: "Daddy warned me about men and alcohol, but he didn't say a word about women and cocaine."
She actually never said that.
@@liteflightifywhere did the quote come from then? Most of the time I can find an alternative source but in this case all roads lead to Bankhead
The actresses of those times had something so fascinating, the way she walked , how she spoke was all so different so elegant
She’s so adorably cute and mad at the same time - I love it!
Ah Tallulah, you beautiful free soul.

Missed the first 45 minutes of this on TCM yesterday. Was hoping to find the entire film, but thank you for posting this. She was great.
This is who drag queens are still imitating today.

Very well said!!!!! She was one of a kind! I too think her "little foxes" on film, it would be EPIC!!!!

Insightful and beautiful writing about the great Tallulah.
She’s fabulous dahlings.
Ah Tallulah...❤🤗❤
I would love to see the full movie: Faithless 1932 with TALLULAH. She had an infectious laugh (-_-)
Her laugh though😂
The maids hot.
I heard cruelle de vil was based on her.
It’s true! Totally based on Tallulah
💙💙💙
Too bad she didn't "click" with the audiences of the early thirties.
They saw her as a heathen.
I always felt she would have made a Great Scarlett, but things happened differently which was alright too. Alas.
She'd have been WAY too old for Scarlett
Erich von Stroheim, she was never a beauty! Just a big mouth and a real life drunkard!

She’d make an even better Blanche from Streetcar. She literally was Blanche.
Her laugh was so sinister lol 😈😂
Our Courtney's got a tall one in
coming from an actress, I can guarantee you this is a great Great performance.
I forgot how only actors can tell good acting from bad.
@@JazzFlop212 😅😃😅😎😆😄 I see what you did there

You sacrifice all those years touring over responsibilities then you get a xcused over their new possibilities
I saw the film. Wasn't satisfied with the ending.
Where can we find this movie ? I searched everywhere
