    Hello Alex, you are very a very brave man 👍🏻
    Firstly for using the English language without fear😎!¡ Don’t let your teacher watch this video 🤫😉
    Secondly for your clever solution to change the sound generator behaviour🙉
    I myself wouldn’t dare to manipulate the cars electronics, but it looks like you have a professional background - and no fear 😀
    There is, by the way, a reason why the sound generator is enabled by default: the reason it being a security feature...
    Alex, you might be interested: this switch is not only for disabling the sound generator, it has another function: you can toggle through three different sounds:
    a) warp sound
    b) no sound
    c) warp sound, but softer
    d) no sound
    e) a different, very soft sound
    f) no sound
    a) warp... etc.
    I also did not like the default - quite loud - warp sound, but I switched to the third sound, which doesn’t really disturb inside the car.
    I will only disable it, if I come home after midnight and try not to wake the neighbours 😔🌙

      Never mind about my language... hehe
      I was living for years abroad and there is no problem, people can understand me and that's all I want. Most of the time I am talking English to my wife and there is no problem by that...
      Also in the video, people understand what it is about and they will get the point.
      For me the sound generator should be disabled by default. I can enable it, whenever it is needed. That's why I just don't like to unplug the speaker, because then I can't enable it instant when needed.
      For me, it's just disturbing even inside the car, if I hear that sound.
      I know that there are different sounds. All are disturbing sounds... But like I said in the video, I like silent driving and not creating extra noise. If I like noise, I should buy a Diesel car. ;-)

      you are welcome.. I really hate that wobbling driving sound. I bought an electric car, to have silent driving not to create extra noise.

    Please do one for the new Dacia Spring! The pedestrian warning sound is really loud inside the car

    Great work Alex.. Congratulations .. although I would love to have this sorted out and turn the sound button to be silent on default, I would not try this. Electrical circuits in modern cars are very accurate due to on board computers. In this case, it would be even more complicated in an electric car. See I have a Zoe 2018 and sometimes, even with changing a W5W bulb, the car requests key in as it detected a change in electrical circuits. So I really admire the work, but I would definitely look for a better solution via programing rather than this.

    • @eDriver
      @eDriver  3 роки тому

      Well, I have the same 2018 model.
      The Renault Zoe is not a modern high-tech electric car, like a Tesla, where you can do everything via software.
      I am pretty sure, you can't do this via programming.
      But if you will find a solution, let me know..

    personally i really like the space ship that the zoe do,(i have the 2018 r110 limited 40),
    think that sound its only from 1 to 30 km/h...and a part of safe for people, they will turn the head to see what kind of vehicle its making that noise,even today is strange to see an electric car
    😆😁

      Well,I bought the electric car, because I like silent driving.
      Any better gasoline car is even much more silent than the sound generator of the Zoe.
      A high class Mercedes S-class, or Rolls Royce are very silent, you can't hear them when driving slow.
      For the gasoline cars, they spend a huge amount of money to make them silent and with the electric cars, they need to spend money to make it loud?
      So if a silent Rolls Royce car bump on you, that's fine, but if a silent electric car bump on you, that's a problem?
      I can't get the point...
      By the way, if I know they can't hear me, I drive like they can't hear me...

      @@eDriver anyway i like your invention,its interesting for those people who likes the gasoline sound and the clean and cheap electricity to travel.
      Very nice work!!

    Hi , what does this do differently to just removing the fuse , what does the orange box actually do please ?? Thanks!

    Where dose that blue plug go?
    The big 1 you have when working with the green cable.

    You can just remove the Fuse. This disables the sound generator and also the beep when the car locks if you have the hands free feature.

    • @eDriver
      @eDriver  5 років тому +1

      To remove the fuse was no option. Because if you remove the fuse, you can't just activate it, if needed. And like said in the video, I like to keep all other sounds active.

    great Idea alex and hi from another alex ;)
    I am wondering about legal and insurance issues:
    What if you forget to switch the sound on and hit a pedestrian?

    • @eDriver
      @eDriver  5 років тому +4

      If you hit a pedestrian, it is always the fault of the car. Even with gasoline car, it's your fault. What if you hit a pedestrian with a bicycle without sound? If you driving an electric car, you know it is silent and you will always watch out...

    Clever idea. Does it invalidate the car’s manufacturers warranty?

    • @eDriver
      @eDriver  5 років тому +1

      I don't think so. What can it affect? Probably, if the switch beside the steering wheel, to deactivate the sound generator,will get damaged, it is not covered. But what else can it affect? ;-)

    • @stephendunn3074
      @stephendunn3074 5 років тому +1

      eDrive Car manufacturers can be peculiar about warranties, there’s no obvious reason but modifications can be a loophole for them to climb through to avoid them doing warranty work. I’m not saying that they will object, but it’s probably worth checking your guarantee.

    um ... i think i will just stick to pressing the button LOL - pretty soon all countries will have to have the pedestrian warning sound on by law on EV's anyway , it will be an offence to turn it off or disable it

    • @eDriver
      @eDriver  4 роки тому +2

      One of my main reasons to buy an electric car was, to have no disturbing driving sound.
      While with the gasoline and diesel cars, the manufacturers trying to make them silent as possible. In contrast to that, I have to build in an artificial sound in an electric car, to make it louder. Isn't that schizophrenic?
      Also when driving an electric car, I know that the pedestrians can't hear me and I am watching ahead and driving like that.
      Why bicycles don't need artificial sound? Why electric bicycles don't need artificial sound? They are more driving there, where people are walking too..

      @@eDriver I totally agree Alex, and I've tried to argue why this law is stupid.
      Like someone else said in this thread "but what if you hit a pedestrian, and the sound is off?", we'll, you also said, it's always the driver's fault, unless the person jumps out in front of the car intentionally. I've always looked forward to a future of electric vehicles, for the very reason that they are (more) silent, and then this regulation and law came in to existence, having manufacturers create artificial noices...it's even worse than a general small ICE noice, as it's a speaker, and it makes the sound travel further.
      I've heard Zoes drive by some 100 meters away, while I couldn't hear all the ICE vehicles ahead and behind that car, just the Zoe and its very annoying "woooom".... 🙄
      I've tried to tell people to imagine an intersection with 20-30 EVs, all with their individual/unique EV noise on...it would/will drive people (like me) crazy.

    The driving sound is to warn pedestrians of your presence, so they don’t step in front of you!

    • @eDriver
      @eDriver  4 роки тому +2

      I bought an electric car not to create extra noise. Now they building in an extra sound generator? huh. schizophrenic and contra productive...
