@kuglepen64 I don't really know if that's the case, Omas tells me their cotton resin is a process they developed and they make it all in-house. Granted, I'm not privy to the process that MB or Pelikan use, it's possible that they're doing something similar. One thing is for certain though, creating a cotton resin is certainly more time and effort than injection-molding plastic or using acrylic acetate. I'll have to investigate a little deeper here to see what these other pen brands are using, this is kind of a new foray for me into this 'league' of pen, so there's still a lot for me to learn. -Brian Goulet
Thanks so much @David Arbon! I definitely put a LOT of time and research into this particular video, especially having to learn the backstory to a company I haven't done a lot with before. It was well worth it though :) Thanks for your well wishes! -Brian Goulet
DenBuh Thanks! Yeah, the purple is gorgeous, but I think the green really does it for me. Honestly they're all really nice, Omas did a great job with these colors :) -Brian Goulet
The only feedback I have for this video is that you mentioned the 14k nib's extra flexibility, it would be cool to see a writing test with that nib as well compared to the 18k. I saw your other comment about it already, but I still thought I'd mention it. These are some very cool pens, unfortunately I won't likely be purchasing anything in this price range for a long time. Maybe one day if I'm going for a luxury pen I'll take a look at Omas, I'm not sure how I feel about colored translucent barrels, but the history and craftsmenship behind the company is something to be respected. Have a good one!
Again, great, detailed introduction; thanks for spending the time on Omas's unique cotton resin process! Well, you've convinced me to order, and so i decided on the green; I'll say a prayer to the pen Gods that I get a wet writer :)
It's used in eyeglasses too (cotton resin). I'm not sure why Omas said they developed it, because it's everywhere, but maybe they developed a special type that's different from others. At any rate, they're very nice pens. Congrats on landing the exclusive distributorship.
Marie-Paule Graham Hi Marie-Paule! We're going to be launching the Omas Arte Italiana Art Vision soon if you want to check out one of those! :) www.gouletpens.com/omas-arte-italiana-vision-liquid-green-fountain-pen/p/OM02A0101 -Margaret
Having acquired several new pens recently, I think this one will have to go on the Future Acquisitions list. Thanks for pointing it out though, it's a very attractive pen. :0)
Thanks Brian . Could this be your best review so far? The OMAS is a beautiful pen and I wish you every success with them. The reserve bank of OZ is trying to devalue my currency so that is unfortunate. But I hear things are looking up in the US so good luck.
Beautiful pen! Too bad it's limited edition. I really like how the colours are dawn themed. My favorite thing is watching the sky change colors as the sun rises. I'm 16 and while my friends are out partying I've watched the whole 20 minutes of this video at least three times and I still find this more interesting ._. So far I only have a Pilot Metropolitan and a cheap pen from China which doesn't write well, and two bottles of Parker Quink. In the future when I earn my own money I'm gonna get myself one of these and a glass pen :) Hoping for more Omas pens and glass pen videos!
jennyheoh Hi there! The Ogiva is a beautiful pen. We just put out another video on the Omas Arte Italiana :) And the Metropolitan was a great choice. I use mine almost every day! -Margaret
I love my Alba. I ordered the green with the EF flex nib. It took awhile for me to find an ink that allowed me to use it as a daily writer for work because even the EF nib is very wet. Now that I have found that ink I seldom go anywhere without it.
To paraphrase: here's this awesome pen with a super-capable ebonite feed, hand tested at the factory for $495. We will offer an extra flexible extra fine nib. They're awesome. Now let's write with a boring medium. Come on! I was drooling waiting for some modern flex. All in all cool pen, great job Brian. Video quality is steadily climbing.
Austin Malone Haha, sorry for the big tease ;) So yes, there is a flex nib on this pen but I really didn't want to oversell that. The flex nib is very soft, and writes great, but I'm cautious with it because a nib like this on a pen this price would be easy to overdo it...and ruin it. The high price tag on this pen isn't going to mean it'll flex so much better/easier/wider than a Falcon or a Noodler's pen even, not proportional to the price. Yes, there is a flex nib option on this pen, but showing that off wasn't my goal for this video. Perhaps I'll need to do a follow up. -Brian Goulet
The Goulet Pen Company How about a Flex nibs video in general? I personally got interested in fountain pens when I searched for a stenography pen for myself.
Great intro. I'll add my vote for more information on the flexible nib(s). I own an Ogiva Vintage, which I'll be posting a review of in the coming days/weeks, with a medium nib and find it a very smooth and extremely wet writer. I'm curious what a medium flex would be like. (I realize that's not one of your standard nib offerings, but even a comparison between the regular EF and flexible EF would be instructive.)
Wonderful and detailed introduction, Brian; nicely done! It will be interesting to see how wet these write when equipped with F or M 18K nibs, compared to the Omas 360 Vintage LEs. Also, you mentioned some feedback; do you consider the 18K nib version to write wet and smooth? In the past, I have found the Omas 360 Vintage LE F, M and B 18K nibs are super smooth writers and the only Omas nibs that I've had some (not unpleasant) feedback from, were the Ruthenium plated versions. Again, best of luck with this great line; I am sure you will do very well with it and it's great that you're kicking it off with demonstrator style, in Omas wonderful Cotton Resin.
I'm sorry for posting a comment on different video, but may I request a review of your new Delta orange pen Unica? I want to know everything about that pen!!!
Yeah, Omas went out of business earlier this year. But luckily, another company bought them and plan on reviving them in 2017. So maybe this model will be making a comeback. - Colin
Hi Brian. Do you still have stocks of the Omas Ogiva Alba purple? Wasn't able to buy one last year and it's difficult to come by one. Hope you can help me with this one. Thanks.
Carlos Menchaca The Omas Ogiva Alba was a limited edition pen and we have already sold out, so unfortunately we will not be getting any more in stock. I’m really sorry about that! -Margaret
Dan Lessert haha, yeah, I had ink on my fingers and it clearly wasn't the ink from the Omas Violet I used for this pen. Such is the life of a guy who makes a living playing with pens :) -Brian Goulet
If there is any brand I could revive , I would do so for the omas . What an absolute legend . Sad now that they're gone

Brian, this is the most consummate review you have done on a fountain in my recent memory! Kudos!
Thanks so much @David Arbon! I definitely put a LOT of time and research into this particular video, especially having to learn the backstory to a company I haven't done a lot with before. It was well worth it though :) Thanks for your well wishes! -Brian Goulet
Wow...that purple one took my breath away! I really enjoy your reviews, and this one is right up there with some of my favs.
DenBuh Thanks! Yeah, the purple is gorgeous, but I think the green really does it for me. Honestly they're all really nice, Omas did a great job with these colors :) -Brian Goulet
ABSOLUTELY LOVE how you split up this video similar to the Q & A where the link for certain sections are available in the description!!! KEEP IT UP!

Gorgeous pens.
BlackStarBlues I know, right? -Brian Goulet
Great review! Even educational.

I didn't know much about this brand until watching this video. Very interesting. I may consider acquiring one of their pens in the future. Thanks.

Marie-Paule Graham I totally understand :) -Margaret
Nice to see you with ink on your fingers again Mr Goulet.
Not a massive fan of the green and orange colour. That purple though, AMAZING! Would be great with the ink you sampled with.

RiZenAsH That's so good to hear! What ink is working well for you? -Margaret
Parker Quink-Black. Sadly since I work for the state I'm only limited to black ink :/

I was just at your site, and I could not find this pen. Or any Omas pen. Did you discontinue them?
Yeah, Omas went out of business earlier this year. But luckily, another company bought them and plan on reviving them in 2017. So maybe this model will be making a comeback. - Colin
Hermosas...
Can the pen be completely disassembled like the TWSBI pens?
to me One of the gifts fountain
My biggest dream...
Hi Brian. Do you still have stocks of the Omas Ogiva Alba purple? Wasn't able to buy one last year and it's difficult to come by one. Hope you can help me with this one. Thanks.
No, unfortunately they are no longer available. Sorry about that! - Colin
Mr. Goulet, are you still making your own pens?
I`d like to see some in production.
Can you do a review on the Camlin Trinity?
Thank you. Will you be getting the cocktails?
GirlGeekLovesStampin Yes we will! Coming later this Fall :) -Margaret
Are you guys not carrying these anymore?
Carlos Menchaca The Omas Ogiva Alba was a limited edition pen and we have already sold out, so unfortunately we will not be getting any more in stock. I’m really sorry about that! -Margaret
Why no 14k writing sample?
do you do a two camera shoot?
radicalbacon 3 camera, actually. Not for every video, but for this one. -Brian Goulet
omas is better than viscontie?
אבינועם הרטל better is a really subjective word. -Brian Goulet
That's one way to get a green thumb 😉
Dan Lessert haha, yeah, I had ink on my fingers and it clearly wasn't the ink from the Omas Violet I used for this pen. Such is the life of a guy who makes a living playing with pens :) -Brian Goulet
Aint nobody got money for that
Limited editions are a cunning ploy to fool people into thinking something is worth the money once they double the asking price.
Omas is dead now....
Omas is being revived! But yes, some of these videos aren't applicable anymore :( - Colin
The Goulet Pen Company is it ? That would be great
I thought they sold the factory
