You do have two Lux cards- one you choose to keep the Market side face up, and the other has the unique ability. So, you'll have a choice of which one to flip at the start of the game.
Thanks for the clarification! I see now that I misunderstood this part of the rules: "Deal each player two lux cards. After each player looks at the other side of their cards, they choose one of their cards and flip it over." I made the mistake of assuming that "choose" implied that the other card was discarded. Now it all makes sense!
