I was similarly blown away by My Cousin Rachel. I agree, Jen, Du Maurier lulls her readers for the first third of the novel and then it takes off and is unforgettable. I so admired Rebecca that I was surprised at my reaction to My Cousin Rachel. It is memorable, for sure. These are lovely April suggestions. Thank you.☔☂🌂💐
Great video, Jen! I have added a few to my (ever growing) TBR list. I enjoyed An Elderly Lady is Up to No Good, and need to get ahold of the sequel (An E.L. must not be crossed? I think it's called?) soon. It's just the right amount of a dark vibe for me.
I have heard of and seen the cover of "An Elderly Lady..." A long time ago. I'm sure I have it on an old TBR list my ( my TBR list is hundreds of pgs.😋) hope to read it SOON now! Thanks for the heads up on " kissing frogs" you mentioned it on another post fairly recently, so I will cross it off. I don't like bks. like THAT. I do enjoy romance bks. but not smut. I took lots of bks. out of library yesterday; now will go back tomorrow for the Mary Stewart bk. Have been eager to read one of hers from what you and Gina say. Thanks so much Jenn, always a pleasure visiting g w/ you.🤗😊
Best wishes with what you choose to read. I hope you get some great stories. I'm currently reading the Count of Monte Cristo so I may be some time! Happy reading.
I'm jealous of your amazing completion of this tag. I read a lot, but couldn't have answered some of these. And your Miss Pettigrew made me think of a book I "couldn't recommend enough" Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson.
Yay! Thank you for the tag!! I always start thinking of answers when I watch these sorts of videos so now it'll be fun to actually make a video with all my answers. 😊 I really want to read Mrs. Pettigrew because I've watched the movie and absolutely loved it. The ending was so sweet!! I'm also glad you talked about Girl's Guide to Kissing Frogs because I thought it sounded interesting when you mentioned it in a previous video but definitely doesn't sound like my cup of tea! And I've been wanting to read more Daphne Du Maurier because I've read Rebecca a couple of times and really enjoyed it. I definitely added some books to my TBR from this video!
If April Showers brings May Flowers. What do Mayflowers bring? Mayflowers bring Pilgrims! Pilgrims with Books! Okay, pretty bad. But this is a Very entertaining video. -James
I really hate when they do that! I think they only changed it for the paperback though. When I originally checked it out from the library it had the original title.
I paused the video and bought Foster - thanks for the recommendation! My umbrella book would definitely be Heroes Inc, the worst book I have read in a while (I dnf'd it but it seems to be one long impotence joke.)

Thank you for watching! I love Daphne Du Maurier’s writing. I’ve read a few other of her books but want to read more!
I loved the descriptions of the setting in Stormy Petrel. Mary Stewart is the best at putting you right there and making you wish you really were!
She is so good at descriptions! I can’t believe more of her books haven’t been made into movies.
I can't wait to see Small Things Like These as a movie this year!
Me too! I’m so worried that it’s not going to live up to the book though! 🫣
I love Claire Keegan. She’s a master at delivering an emotional gut punch in a short work count.
She really is!

Oh, I agree about Elderly Lady! Dark but not *too* dark! And nothing graphic!
This is the cutest tag! I may do this one, too. ❤ Love your choices and have written down several of your recommendations. 😊
I would love to see your answers to this one! Your videos constantly have me adding to my TBR!
this was a fun tag! thanks!! 🌱🌷🌷🌷🌷☔☔☔☔

I hope you enjoy Mary Stewart! Thank you so much for watching and commenting, Eileen! 💕
Thank you so much for the tag! Adding “My Cousin Rachel” to the wish list. Happy Reading! 😎📚👍
You’re welcome! 😊
I LOVE The Lido by Libby Page, I about to start another one of her books The Vintage Shop next week!
Why have I never read anything else by her??? Now I need to go see what my library has!
Best wishes with what you choose to read. I hope you get some great stories. I'm currently reading the Count of Monte Cristo so I may be some time! Happy reading.
I might try a slow read of Count of Monte Cristo next year. I've heard it's amazing! Enjoy!

Re: Major Pettigrew, I loved that one, too! And made the same mental connection
Oh I read that years ago and forgot about it. So funny that both books have characters named Pettigrew!
Yay! Thank you for the tag!! I always start thinking of answers when I watch these sorts of videos so now it'll be fun to actually make a video with all my answers. 😊

You should definitely read Miss Pettigrew, you will love it! And I can't wait to see your answers to this tag!
We've already had two storms in April in Scotland so far!!!
We’ve had a couple or rainy days here in California but now apparently summer has arrived. It’s going to be 80 degrees F today! 🥵

Ha ha! Thank you for watching!
I had not idea The Lido had a different in the US!
I really hate when they do that! I think they only changed it for the paperback though. When I originally checked it out from the library it had the original title.
I was interested in reading “An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good” when it was published but then promptly forgot about it so thanks for the reminder!
You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy it.

Enjoy Foster! It’s wonderful.
This tag has such awesome questions! Do you mind if I answer it too on my channel and link yours? 🤗
Of course not! I would love to hear your answers. 😊
P.S. just found Emily 😊
