I loved my brief visit to Hamilton. Only had a little time to explore before the family wanted to move on. But can’t wait to go back by myself and spend time.
I do not care for the ergonomic rotary cutter. I like the one you just got. It works great for me. I have been quilting almost 35 years, and ended up upgrading to Creative Grid rulers. I have more than I should probably. 😂 I love the quilt kit you purchased and I have been fighting myself on buying it.
It is so good to know I am not alone in my opinion of the ergonomic rotary cutter! I LOVE Creative Grids rulers too. I plan on steadily growing my collection ☺️ Edelweiss is gorgeous!! Good on you for resisting temptation this long!
I can't believe you are just ordering from Missouri Star. Every night at midnight, they change their deal of the day, and you can get some good products at a good discount. They also have other daily and weekly specials. Their black Friday specials at Xmas time were very good. Also, if you are concerned about getting a good cut from your rotatory cutter, you might want to try blades from Kai. They don't just have great scissors. Their blades cut so effortlessly. Sew amazing. Happy sewing.
I got a Lori Holt seam roller in a Sew Sampler, and it is so nice. It is bigger and wooden and so easy to use. Upon opening the box, I thought, I'll never use that. It is always beside my machine now. I will also suggest a clapper if you dont yet have one. It really flattens your seams. My husband just made me one with some scrap maple wood. It's made a big difference in my blocks.
If you like the idea of an ergonomic rotary cutter, Olfa does make one. I have one and used it for years already. I've had both thumb joints it my hands replaced and this cutter is easy on my hands. Love it. Suzanne
I love my Creative Grids rulers. The smaller lines were my deciding factor. The thicker yellow lines of other brands always threw me off. I still have that ruler and use it to hold prepared binding 😂 Excited to see you complete Edelweiss kit. I plan to use a print from Rosemary Cottage for my backing and TBD on the plaid border that is not my fave.
I am a much newer quilter even than you, but I was reading a bunch of comments on troubleshooting rotary cutter issues & a common theme was accidentally inserting 2 blades stuck together. I think you said you had changed your blade, so maybe you grabbed 2 unknowingly?
You know what, I did check that because I have certainly done that myself before! Unfortunately, not the case here. I have found there to be a few “duds” in the pack of 10 blades I purchased. Some work well, some don’t 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve heard great things about blades from other companies, so I might try out those on my ergonomic rotary cutter to see if that makes a difference! Thank you so much for the tip!
@@EaddysCraftRoom I am still on my first blade. Not sure if I am still “learning”, or it is because I have to do my cutting seated due to mobility issues, or the mat I selected, but mine doesn’t seem to cut through 100%. I have the Olfa ergonomic rotary cutter.

I believe Paducah is the OG Quilting Capital

Omni Splash cutter - it’s amazing. To push it to the moon - add an ‘Endurance’ blade. Pricey but worth it!!

Thank you for letting me know, Suzanne! I will look into it, especially as my hands start feeling the wear and tear of our craft!
Wow. Love that shore line fabric. Nope didn’t like the ergonomic rotary either. Love my Olfa

Creative Grids is the best. Try the Stripology rulers and you’ll be hooked!
I have them on my wishlist! ☺️
I add nonslip adhesive dots to my omnigride ruler and it works amazing now.
That’s a great idea! I plan on giving mine away, so I will share your tip with the recipient ☺️
Tiffany @ Tiffany quilting life, uses the roller on her seams quite often.

I think you need to change the blade on ergonomic rotary cutter.
Try standing when you are cutting your pieces. You will have less shifting and a more accurate cut
Good advice, thanks!
