Colion BUH YA! I have been armed and dangerous since I first got my CC at 21. Somehow not one time have any of my lazy dead beat guns , jumped of the table and shot anyone. 44 years and I have the laziest, dead beat firearms ever made. At 15 years of age , my longest shot was over a mile and a half. A custom built 50 cal , necked down to a 30 cal projectile.

And I remember when Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie were interviewed and talked about weapons and pro 2A.
Of course, year(s) later, they backtracked, but that was out there. Even on FB.
THey want to take our guns when violent crime rates are dropping all over the country..... which makes me ask; "Why? What are you planning to DO to ME?"

Here in Canada, I asked several cops, "What if I need to defend myself from someone who intends me harm? Should I not be permitted to arm myself, preferably with something intended for such a task?"
And every damn time I got the same answer, "Oh no, don't do that. Barricade yourself in a room, and call us. We'll protect you."
It takes these guys 40 minutes to show up to anything and they know it's 'cause no matter how fast they go, it'll be too late by the time they get there to do anything but take notes.
This is why I’ve stopped calling the police “1st responders”. When seconds count, help is always minutes away

When you live in a society, you inexorably sign a contract with that society that you are also responsible for the safety of others. Thats one of the foundations on which society is even able to continue.

Again, this is about the fact that you are responsible for the safety of others, and you owning a gun does not invariably make others safe. In fact, statistically speaking, in any given situation, when you add guns to it, the probabilistic measure of EVERYONE'S safety goes down, not up. Come up with a less brain dead argument, or please sit down and don't talk about what you don't fundamentally comprehend.

@@craigpaul623 actually my friend it is a fact. There is plenty data that supports this. When you are guns into the mix EVERYONE'S safety goes down. Just having access to a gun increases the probability of suicide, again - statistical fact. Furthermore, there is remarkable evidence that it storage method doesn't matter. If the gun is locked in a safe, in a drawer, or left on a nightstand, or in a box in the closet - simply having a gun in the house increases this risk. It's a fact. If there is a gun in the house women are more likely to be the victim of a homicide, and again - statistical fact. Of over 150 papers that were written analyzing gun violence data, only 5% found instances in which guns makes the home specifically a safer place. In fact, there is specific statistical data published with regards to a DIRECT correlation between an increase in the number of firearms and an increase in violence. We have data that proves this all the way down to the county level.
Other than data published in papers, we have empirical evidence that guns don't make the situation safer. There have been numerous instances where police, instead of mental health professionals, were dispatched to mental health emergencies and the individual who contacted 911 for help ended up being a victim of police brutality. Now of course you can't definitively say that if the cops weren't there and it was a mental health professionals instead that NO ONE would have died. It's possible that the individual could have been enthralled in a psychosis and killed the mental health professional. You can however, definitively say, that the RISK of death, which is inversely proportional to the value of the safety level. Meaning the higher the risk of death, the lower the safety and inversely, the lower the risk of death the higher the safety. Removing the gun the police have access to from the situation is DIRECTLY correlated to the risk of death going down and the value of safety going up. It is a statistical fucking fact my guy. And that's just one example as it relates to police brutality, police being an institution that is inherently supposed to keep us safe. If an institution that is supposed to keep us safe, has increased our risk of death SOLELY because of their access to firearms, then one can obvious extrapolate that on the individual level, which is not designed to inherently keep us safe, the risk of death from introducing a firearm into any given situation goes up even more.
It's also just fucking common sense that once you introduce a firearm into a given situation, there is a higher risk of someone dying. I mean seriously, the innate common sensical nature of that statement is palpable. Someone stealing from a store for instance; once you introduce a gun, the risk of someone dying innately goes up. If the cashier has a gun, the risk of the perp dying increases. If the perp has a gun, the risk of any bystander dying goes up. Someone stealing does not deserve to die, in case you were wondering. Let's go to a more extreme; a hostage situation. Ask any hostage negotiator and they will tell you the main goal is to get EVERYONE, including the perp, out of the situation alive. If the cops have guns, and let's say the perp has a knife, it makes him more anxious and increases the risk of death of the hostage and indeed the perp himself. If the perp is the only one with a gun, it obvious increases the risk of death of the cops and the hostage. If both have a gun, you have the innate risk on top of the increased risk from the anxiety that the cops have guns. If a bystander also has a weapon, then you have an increased risk of things just getting out of control, because some random bystander is now an added piece to a situation the police are trying to maintain control of. And everyone knows the more things you add to a situation, the harder it is to control, and that's just a fact that everyone understands. Just because you say it isn't a fact doesn't make the data disappear. Please take your egg shaped smooth brain back to whatever hole you crawled out of to vomit word salad about something you fundamentally don't comprehend.

I met Kurt Russell in Glenwood Springs a few years ago. He was walking out of a store, and I damn near collided with him. His jacket was open, and I said nice weapon. He was carrying a Wilson Combat 1911. He saw me carrying my Colt Lightweight Commander. We talked about 2 minutes and then he was on his way to his pickup truck. Hell of a NICE guy.
