- It is not easy trying to buy the entire interior for complete 30' boat, while you're on disability income...But I'm doing it!
Every month, I have been buying a few things, here and there, for the boat. Building out systems preparing for this next summer so that I can get in there and begin construction when it warms up.
I need like everything for the boat when it comes to electronics! Everything will be brand new.
This can be a daunting task for somebody who's learning this while you're preparing to build.
But I am learning quickly and trying very hard to make sure I don't make mistakes, while I only purchase products that are gonna be exceptional.
I save up a little money and then when there's a coupon or a sale, I go for it. Christmas offered me some discounts so I took advantage of that and got some more electrical components. Very cool.
I might be halfway through what I'm gonna need. And of course that's not counting big expenditures like Chart Potter and such. That equipment will come down the road after she's in the water.
But I am purchasing everything that will meet the standards of ABYC and the Coast Guard. I want us to have a reliable and safe vessel, that doesn't sink or catche fire... I know in such a small ask at the end of the day. ;)
But I also want to build a vessel that is comfortable and easy to use, because we're not having to constantly stop to fix something that wasn't done right from the start...
And let's face it, these materials are not cheap. It's been a big challenge for me not to try to shortcut somewhere in the build and just take my time bringing materials home as I'm able to.
But my pile is growing and the list of things that I need is shrinking. So that's an indicator a progress. Yippee!
My goal is to get the boat to where she can do some local sailing safely. Once I have that goal met, then I'll be able to add more complex features to the boat.
A boat's never finished at the end of the day, it's a ongoing project.
But it's exciting already to see the ever growing a bulk of materials to fit out the interior. I am very excited and stoked to be continuously working on this. It has been such a fun project, I have learned so much and my favorite thing in life is to learn.
