Generally speaking the Howe and Watt section of the American River has many of these. Large earthworms, size 7/0 hooks, and a carolina rig is all you need. There may be other ways to catch them, but this method generally worked for me in the past.
@cyborg006 Wish i got a picture of it. Im sure I will get another one soon and will have a camera next time. Oh and thanks, I forgot i was on my bands channel.

@EndureTheBeheading you should put a picture up. interesting music btw. very old school, but it still sounds good.
Caught a pike minnow today in a small creek in the central valley of California on a buzz bait. It was about 2ft long and more of a silver color.
You're probably right. I will have to remember that next time I go fishing there.

i just landed a 25 inch fish on a trout spinner.
the second it hit the water i thought i snagged a rock, but it was actually a 7 pound fish
there endangerd here in colorado
If u catch the size 4 to 6 inches pike minnow.. they are hell of a bait to use for stripers! Guaranteed a 30+ inches stripe!
@cyborg006 7/0? Damn, that's a pretty big hook.
i caught pikeminnow in snelling using a small rebel minnow lure...
same thang. new name. fun fish to catch.
earth worms.
same thing fear :\
pikeminnows, catch them on kastmasters, topwaters, and senkos. kill them and use them as bait. save the salmon
kabah088 Native predators. Look at the invasive brown trout if you want to save salmon.
Bk Jeong you must not be from the area... there are no brown trout on the american.
OK, but the pikeminnow are still native and have caused no trouble until we messed up, and they get the blame.
How about we keep the natives and put a bounty on all invasive species (largemouths, smallmouths, strippers, etc.)
that ain't no pike minnow!!!!!!...that's call a squaw fish.....if you don't believe me then research it up in google...
