Mark was indeed a fantastic presenter AND Phenomenal artist. I was too young to realise it back then, but does anyone find it ironic that around this time, both Smart and Art Attack were effectively competing for best kids art show?

It was a great idea when they showed Fun House, Knightmare, and Finders Keepers, but sadly those didn't go down too well with the average viewer. Another stumbling block could be licensing issues with the cartoon and film clips. It would be great if it could happen, though!
I had completely forgotten that this show existed! Even now, the only parts I distinctly remember are the doors with Betty Boop and Popeye in the intro, the animal silhouette audience overlay, and the drawing round. When it comes to the actual quiz or even the set design, I honestly don't remember it at all.

It's a really good, fun show, isn't it? And you're right: if there's one thing that can be said for the out-of-vision era of CITV, it's that they really upped their game when it came to idents and promos. :-)

Now I never imagined one of these episodes surviving, but I'm glad it did as it shows off something which I was surprised only lasted for a small while, probably due to copyrights over the clips, I suppose? But yeah I'm glad to see this again, I fully understand about the Cinderella thing (since a song was used in the clip), I'm sorry that my 12 year old self didn't like the music choice for that Galaxy ad recycled from 1995 and as I said once before I wasn't into dramas so much, so no Out of Sight I'm afraid. However I do recall another episode(s) of this show (I don't know if any others survived) but they featured actual anime clips which I thought was pretty gutsy, especially since one of them gained a 15 certificate; Vampire Princess Myu. The clip wasn't overly violent or anything, but still it was odd seeing that on the show, as well as a clip for the anime OVA; Giant Robo, which I think also gained a more mature rating, probably 12 or 15 I'm not sure. But there was a round in the same epsiode(s) where the contestants faced a CGI tree with doors that opened up and they have to spot two of the same image or name the toon hidden in the door or something like that. And of course, it was very sad of what ultimately happened with Mark, he was indeed so full of energy.
You're right - it must have been a licensing nightmare. It was a really fun show, though, and I'm surprised it didn't go on to become a long-running favourite. You'll be pleased to know that there's another partial episode at the end of the same tape, so I'll be uploading that soon-ish.

I noticed that some clips were either public domain or from videos that were available at the time (giving that the Street Sharks clip came from BMG Video, which did release a few volumes of that show back in 1996). Probably they also had to only use shows currently airing on TV too I guess? I'll admit I'm hoping that on one of the tapes I sent you last was some footage from Disney's Wake Up In The Wild Room, the reason being is that my next door neighbour was on that show and I recorded some of it.

Yet another of those UK gameshows that Challenge should (pun unintended) show (although, as I’m aware, as long as there’s enough fan demand for them); they (Challenge) should definitely show series 2 of this (from 1997 - aired from the 2nd of September to the 7th of October) [where the show now aired on Tuesdays, as well as was the show’s only additional series], featuring the ‘Pair Tree’ game (I remember said game used to scare me) [Challenge could possibly show this on condition that they edit out things like the competitions for the viewers at the end of the episodes, given that anything shown on Challenge is merely repeats].

From watching all these old VHS recordings, I’ve noticed that there were always brief black screens between adverts in those days.
ITV and Channel 4 definitely did. Other channels (including Sky One - e.g. ua-cam.com/video/ZlNpXmDNQdg/v-deo.html ) didn't, for some reason.

Actually, series 2 aired from 19 august 1997. I know because I saw it that day and had clips from lady and the tramp and the sooty cartoon!
I thought it aired from 2 September because there only were 6 episodes of series 2, and said series definitely ended 7 October.
