get ready to get a lot of questions about your weird-looking camera if you attache the swing away filter holder I got stopped many times by curious people because the filter holder was opened and it looked like a space camera from Back to the future.
I would love to see a list of quality wide angle adapters, so many of them (for cameras and phones) are just poor quality with significant distortion and chromatic aberration. Great video!
Hey man! I just wanted to stop by and say, I first came across your videos quite a long time ago (a few years before the pandemic). I recently started to learn about filmmaking myself, and found your videos again - can i say you are awesome, always a pleasure to watch your content.
you are an absolute legend in this anamorphic world.......thanks mate.....super straight to the point practical facts for shooting.....superdupa channel.....what a legend.
I bought a "SYH&AQYE 67mm 2.2X Universal Teleconverter " adapter that works very well on my 75mm anamorphic. It cost about $45, and I think it was more like a 1.7X, but still really good with no easily decernable loss in IQ.
Hi @Anamorphic on a Budget, so glad to discover your channel, I will definitely delve deeper. Could you please clarify as it was not apparent to me from the video, can a diopter and a wide angle adapter be stacked and used simultaneously with the Sirui 24mm? Thanks so much!
The Merkury Optics 0.45x with 72mm thread seems to be really hard to find after this video, haha. The closest I've been able to find is the AGFA 72mm 0.43X Super Macro Wide Angle Lens APWAG72. I wonder how it holds up to the Merkury. Anyone have any experience?
Awesome video! Just what I was looking for. Any clue where could I find that wide angle adapter??? Can’t find anywhere… or do you recommend a different one !? Thx 🙏
That aperture mechanism looks suspiciously like very inexpensive microscope iris units available on eBay/Amazon. I’ve been thinking of modding one to have and maintain an oval shape when stopping down, I think it’s possible.
@@AnamorphicOnABudget they have a valid patent on that? Bummer. Edit: just found theirs. What I have in mind is mechanically different. I doubt they can lay claim to the overall concept of an oval iris mechanism in its entirety.
i tried 2 different wide angle adapters on my sirui 24mm on both the lens flares became horizontal and VERTICAL... used the same adapters on the 35 and 75mm and the flares are normal. Whats wrong with my 24mm?
they are all very nice cosmetic and functional changes, I would like to see a comparison of the 3 "cinemod" sirui. Alternatively, can you buy them already modified? both with the oval diaphragm and with the other adapters?
I have comparisons on all the videos! No one offers to sell them already modded, as far as I know. Maybe MTF services will though, as they asked for a bunch of my oval inserts.
Got a $30 yashica 72mm 0.45x wide adapter and it’s super clean, but it vignettes on my apsc sensor xt4 & I have to crop in substantially to get rid of it. Is this normal for these wide angle adapters?
@@AnamorphicOnABudget Hey, i was wondering , if i attach a 0.35 wide angle on my anamorphic 35mm will i get a vignet?and is it too wide?? sorry for my english not very goood
because i don't care that it will be too wide, i love that style like the revenant or wong kar waii movies but i don't like that to be "circle wide " like skateboard fisheye and i'm scared to have this type of effect if i choose a .35 wide angle, but i'm scared that the .45 wide angle is not that wide
Another super clean and informative video, can you comment on what you think roughly the new field of view equivalent is with the .04 converter would be for both X and Y axis in full frame MM equivalence?
This is nice, but I kind of would love to see how stacked anamorphics would work out with this rather diminutive lens and hopefully avoid disassembling the rear. An anamorphot and rangefinder or HCDNA on the front could be more solid even if way more costly then a lot of other options, but also a bit more flexible.
I don't know if I agree with this. I mean, at this point it's just better to ditch the Sirui for a cheaper and smaller 24mm lens. The whole point of this lens for me is being single focus in a small package. If we're adding an adapter + vari diopter in front of it, we're cancelling its advantages.
@@AnamorphicOnABudget Yeah, I see what you mean and I was resistant to the idea even as I was thinking of it for the same reasons. However, it still may not be as much of a convenience disadvantage relative to other options. Both add-ons (SLR Magic Anamorphot 1.33x 50/ HCDNA) are still relatively short and threaded or clamped with the intention of being used together. The combo could still be slightly lighter, less expensive then even the Atlas lenses with more comparable results then the Suriu‘s alone.
@@AnamorphicOnABudget That's so amazing! So between the Z-Cam s6 and a gh5s using the 35 and 50. I'd have basically 8 lenses for the price of two lenses? Correct me if I'm wrong. I know the only thing really changing is field of view between them.
Considering to make a diy setup, but I want to know one thing: Should I attach a wide angle adapter in front of variable diopter? or between variable diopter and anamorphic adapter? Will use a FVD and a Kowa B&H. I am not an optics expert so don't know much about that. please let me know.
Hi Tito! This video got me wondering. Would a 24mm Sirui anamorphic with a Sony E-mount, mounted on a GH5 with a .71 E to MTF speedbooster give a wider FOV?

Hey Tito! looking for a good wide angle adapter option for my modest set up: helios 44 + kowa 16d + fvd 16d. What else beside thread milimeter should I care about? Thanks in advance.
The best ones are 0.7x, anything stronger than that (0.5x) will be incredibly distorted and losing image quality. It's a hard balance between weight and image quality overall, to be honest.
@@AnamorphicOnABudget thank you mano! ainda fala portugues? haha, another question, i just won an elmo ii, should i get the fvd 24 or am i good with the fvd 16a in order to get a wider fov?
