Emperor, one of the greatest, i saw them in 2006 too in London. I knew you'd love them. Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk is the album this is taken from, a must have for any black metal fan.
You will find some black metal here. I dont want to be a channel that focuses on just popular songs or stuff that gives me views. I chase the music experience.
Black Metal isn't for everybody, dude. To be honest, not all are worthy to react to such quality music. You have to been on the metal journey a while before you can enjoy such greatness 😎
Those epic chants with clean vocals gives me chills and goosebumps every time as well as that solo in the last minute, pretty memorable, simply stuck in your mind whether you want it or not. Check out their song Ye Entranceemperium, crazy as hell.
The vocalist is the same guy who was guest vocal on the Leprous live show «Contaminate me» he is actually married to the sister of the vocalist in Leprous. Great musicians and proud of them being Norwegians with that level of Quality🤘
I can't stop watching this reaction video. Emperor is so authentic, and this reaction is so genuine. I'm back here almost every week to watch you get blown away all over again. 😆
There are 2 other high quality live versions of this song worth checking out. In 2021, just at the end of the pandemic, they did an online streaming concert. You can find it if you search Emperor 2021. The program was called "A Night of Emperial Wrath." They did an interesting slower tempo version of Strength. It packs the same punch, but with more length to it, you have a little more time to appreciate the musicality. The recording & mixing quality of that show is also very good. Second, check out their home video release from 2000, called "Emperial Live Ceremony." They play a blisteringly lightning-fast version of Strength, almost a minute faster, which will break your neck!
I first saw EMPEROR in Tucson in 1999 when they toured with BORKNAGAR. I last saw them in LA June 30, 2023. I also saw them a few times in Europe in between, all the shows were amazing.
Oooooh Emperor and Borknagar would be a dream lineup. Throw in Keep of Kalessin and ther couldn't be a better epic extreme metal concert 😊 Well, just for our host, we could drop Septicflesh in the mix 😊
The album ATTWAD change my life for ever. Nothing is more lyric, dark and intense like this album. Chrismas 1997 I've discovered the Emperor Sound and I never forget it. Emotions are like 26 years ago ! The Emperor is dead, long live the Emperor 🤘
Great reaction! You picked my favorite song of my favorite Emperor album 🤘🤘🤘 Maybe you can react to another epic song of another great band: An Abstract Illusion - In the heavens above you will become a monster, I have a feeling you may like that one too!
As you can tell, this concert was fairly well recorded & mixed. You'll be happy to know that in addition to the DVD release, from which this youtube source video was ripped, this whole concert was also released on CD & Vinyl LP. Almost every song of this show is an absolute banger, and a pretty amazing early example of the modern form of this band. Aside from the keyboard player being replaced in 2018, this is the current lineup 18 years later. This DVD was released as part of a 3 disc package, which included the CD version of the Wacken show, along with a CD of their performance at Inferno, which actually was their first full show of the modern era. After Inferno, they played 4 dates in the USA, followed by the Wacken show. Because they'd had a few more shows to get the rust out, Wacken is a little bit sharper than Inferno. But both together are a perfect capsule of the experience of the US tour dates for 2006. The Inferno show was also released on Vinyl LP, and has the same setlist, with 2 additional tracks, including Ye Entrancemperium, the song they usually close with these days. The LP's aren't too hard to find online. Highly recommended for those who wish to actually hear a good quality representation of their music. Their original studio album recordings are tough to listen to sometimes. Very harsh lo-fi in an icy blizzard sound. Lol
Hello! Greetings from Brazil! I have found your channel because of the Leprous reaction and been watching your videos for a while :) it seems we have similar taste and opinion on music - just subscribed. I am an opeth addict as well lol my all time favorites for sure, they are very special to me. Anyway just wanted to share that Mikael told in an interview that first Opeth record deal was signed because of Emperor :D Ihsahn heard them, asked for a tape and gave to his record label saying: these are the ones you should sign today. And they did. Awsome right? They are incredible too, hope you keep enjoying.
@ZerilathImmortal They did disband just as the 4th album was being released, so they never actually toured or promoted the final album (Prometheus). They got back together 5 years later in preparation for these 2006 shows. Then did limited engagements in 2006, 2007, and 2014. They started doing more festival appearances in 2017, 2018, 2019 with their current lineup, and then got back on the road since 2022. I saw them in Dallas in 2023 during the US Tour. I uploaded some fun multi-cam split screen videos of the various uploads from that show, if y'all are interested!
Bro, how does it feel to witness the very pinnacle of metal music? I'm sure nothing feels the same after this. But still, feel free check out The Loss and Curse of Reverence from the same set because the composition is so damn good that it makes Beethoven and Mozart proud if they're still alive.
Some good parts here, the clean was unexpected but welcome. At times it was a little much for me, but at others I could totally get into it. Mixed bag for me.. ❤ and ✌️

There must be many with different vocalists. Which one do you prefer? Attila really does it for me, but I'm not amazed that many people like the others more. Attila is an aquired taste, even for black metal people 😂
I can echo your sentiments here, when you said you were not ready. Hahaha. I've known of Emperor for a while. I had been following an independent record label called Blood Music since about 12 years ago, when they announced they were working with Devin Townsend to release a complete vinyl LP box set of all of Strapping Young Lad's albums. Over the years, they attracted a lot of great metal bands, and got permission for one-time represses of off-label artists, including Ihsahn's first solo album, Adversary. Every couple of years, they'd announce a bigger badder complete box set, and eventually landed upon Emperor, releasing a massive 24 LP box set, with all of their studio and live albums, demos, EPs, and loads of extras. Ever since hearing about that box set, I put Emperor on my list of bands to eventually check out. All of a sudden, several years passed, I hadn't listened to them yet, and a USA Tour was announced for 2023!!! 😮 I watched The Loss & Curse of Reverence video from this same Wacken 2006 concert as my quick preparation. But like you, I was not ready. Seeing them play all their best songs just completely blew me away. Other-worldly. Best way I can describe it was like being in the Night on Bald Mountain scene from Disney's Fantasia.
I have wild Emperor recommendation that you're still not ready for! Check out "Towards the Pantheon," Live at Hellfest 2014, the audience-recorded video posted by Vlad Tepes on youtube. That first scream will warp your reality. Hahaha.
Hellu, I'm Brazilian, and I just know your channel and really liked it, and I have a recommendation for you to react Animal by Aurora. I feel that you really gonna like it!!

You should have chosen the older, Emperial Live Ceremony rendition. Anyway, Emperor crushed all the stereotypes back then. BM bands aren’t good live, they don’t have solos, it’s too monotonous, Melodies and keyboards make it less metal, well, there you have it.
@@punkjay4681 I'm not wrong about much and this, I'm not wrong about. Plenty of other great bands, shows, countries to check out...if you get what I'm saying.

hahahah Love it!!!!❤
Not so alike in this old live performance 😂 I can see the resemblance though, a dark beard and eyeglasses 😂
Ihsahn was 22 years old when this was first released back in '97 🤯

By far my favorite Emperor song
One of Rob Halford's favorite bands, that's all i have to say about Emperor.
I am not a big Emperor fan, especially not of their later work, but Anthems are perhaps the best black metal album ever made
My favorite music of Emperor
The vocalist is the same guy who was guest vocal on the Leprous live show «Contaminate me» he is actually married to the sister of the vocalist in Leprous. Great musicians and proud of them being Norwegians with that level of Quality🤘
And I think the band leader of Leprous is behind the keyboard on this live if I am not mistaking.
@@GwanYTB You're not mistaken. That's Ihsahn's brother-in-law, Einar Solberg. Amazing vocalist!
