  • In this video, I share my expression of Sweet Peas, using the Princeton brush #8 round brush and the Princeton Dagger, which made these little sweet Pea petals so easy. . The key here is holding your brush at the tip with light pressure to start and pushing it on its side to get that beautiful organic petal. I switched from the round brush to the dagger so you could see how I approach both and in case you still need the dagger brush, which is linked below.
    Fun, Sweet Pea facts - These flowers have one large round petal surrounded by two narrow side petals and two lower petals = 5. They vary in pink, red, white or blue. They bloom in late spring and summer and attract butterflies.
    Nan Rae has a beautiful tutorial using the dagger brush as well for sweet peas, I just gave it my own twist~

    Such a wonderful tutorial! I followed your instructions and really gave it my best try and it’s probably the prettiest little floral I’ve painted! I was starting to feel that I wasn’t painting very well as nothing I’ve recently painted made me feel that I was improving. So this tutorial came just when I needed it. I used the dagger brush and I love the brush strokes it can make. Thanks so much for such a great tutorial and for taking the time to explain everything. 💕🌈🖌️

      Good morning Nadine, fantastic I'm so happy you gave it a try; they are such unique little flowers. In the past, I painted them in baby blue and light pink which was also very pretty. I may do another tutorial on them they were so much fun! The dagger brush is fun, holds a lot of water, and I found to be somewhat a little soft not as springy as I might like in a brush. But none less a lot of fun! Happy painting my artist friend.

      Thank you Alli & Bella, what a wonderful message to wake up to ~ It is my pleasure, and that is how I have thought about it; I don't want to edit, I've never been about perfectionism, editing; I like being genuine and authentic, I make mistakes, I mispronounce words sometimes, its ME! I also hope that elicits you to also feel comfortable, play, and have FUN, most importantly with this. LOVE the catchphrase! I'm so happy to have you here with me learning and sharing! I do my best to break down my thought process, which can be a no-thinker, a habit to me but could be a huge little tip for someone else. Id love to hear about some of the wonderful flowers you m just have in the UK! Happy Painting friend!

    Good morning Debbie. Thank you so much for your tutorials. They have greatly enhanced my learning experience. If I may share a suggestion...I don't want to overstep. I use dagger brushes frequently. I love them. A note for beginners...(that I discovered when I first started) may find them more "controllable" to use a somewhat firmer dagger at first. If my comment is inappropriate, please remove it with my apologies.

    • @DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy
      @DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy  Рік тому +2

      Yes you are correct, they don’t particularly have a lot of snap.. I have found the “angle” brush has more rigidity and snap and possibly easier to work with for a beginner .
      The dagger brushes are a lot of fun but a bit softer . Good tip Jill!

    • @jillbalsam2507
      @jillbalsam2507 Рік тому +2

      @@DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy Princeton Neptune is PARTICULARLY soft as it holds a lot of water, which, of course, is the wonderful characteristic of Neptunes. There are firmer daggers. I think I must have EVERY DAGGER ever made. LOL

    Hi, i am a bit confused! Can you tell us when do i wet the paper before starting to paint and when do i use a dry paper, Cynthia from South Africa. 😮

    • @DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy
      @DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy  Рік тому +1

      Hi Cynthia, Thanks for your question. When I refer to wet on wet the technique can also refer to wet paint into wet paint which is what I am referring with here. I didn't wet my paper beforehand.
      I love the wet on wet technique as it creates such beautiful flowy blends. I used this technique mostly when I was dabbing in some of the darker purple into the wet Opera Rose, and Quin Magenta petals. As well, as the green into the petals. I then let it spread and blend naturally. Happy painting Cynthia, I hope that helps.

    Do you have any hints to dry dry weather vs watercolor

    • @DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy
      @DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy  11 місяців тому

      That can be a challenge for sure.
      If possible paint inside, and honestly you will just have to make sure you use plenty of water, work a little faster if working wet in wet.
      Work smaller areas at a Time.. make sure no fans hitting you as the painted areas will dry faster so the larger the area the more chance of it drying before you can get to it
      I hope this helps!
