holy fucking shit watching him do that damnation intro, and it being around 30 years since recording it - and him being inactive in music for much of that, and then put on such a spot on performance, just holy fucking shit; all i can say..
John Arch was on the Axes and Anchors cruise this past week! He was at Pamela Moores vocal workshop and doing some stuff with some other bands. We talked with him a bunch of times over the week long event. Super nice guy and he said that Pamela Moore brought tears to his eyes with her performance. I agreed with him. She was just fantastic but Arch is still a big hero of mine. Awesome to see him in person and meet his wife too.
i dont care if john came out in drag looking like a cross between 70' elton john and ziggy stardust watching this performance and seeing the ct show live was an absolute dream come true never ever expected to see him sing again...will say think germany got the more enthusiastic crowd....many of us at the ct show were too busy with our jaws on the ground either drooling or crying or a mixture of both...thoroughly blown away every time i watch these vids again...so hope the rumors are true we might see another album in 2015
I agree Ryan.I was against the stage at the Webster show.was blown away seeing John enjoy himself up there.I have seen a ton of metal bands & this show has to go down as my all time fave.John signed my awaken the guardian cd after the show.such a humble & down to earth man.I heard a awaken the guardian reunion tour is scheduled for 2015-16
Wow, it's the man himself singing the classics...John Arch will probably always be my favorite singer. I listen to AtG, and Spectre all the time, and still am wowed when I hear certain parts.
Awesome!! I love this. John Arch back on stage and he sounded great. I even liked the fact that you could tell his stage presence was a little awkward from being away from the stage for about 25 years. I was sooo happy to see he was like a regular fan on stage singing these awesome songs. This takes be back to high school in Naugatuck, CT. I was one of the few metalhead kids that "got" FW and loved it. Welcome back John. Don't stay away so long again. Keep making great music!! \m/
So glad more people are coming out to support these underground legends. I was introduced to them when I was 13 and it changed alot for me. My uncle and father went to see them at the Ritz in Austin back in 86' and have some funny stories, but, my favorite band of alll time--with Arch apart of the lyrics you just get such an empirical, progressive-story-telling format or structure. Real progression.
Absolutely the MOST AMAZING Reunion Ive ever seen in Metal. Not kidding. The second pro-chorus and verse.....3:27-4:30..... Vocals are STUNNINGLY good.
My god, does life get any better than this? Seeing Jon Arch on stage again with Jim and Frank!!! Calgon, take me away!!! My bucket list is complete now!!! Now, if only they would launch a major tour for their awesome, and I mean AWESOME album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Arch still has it! And the fact that these - to me anyway - are the two songs that got me hooked on Fates makes it all the better. ^__^ I remember having a tape with these two songs, among other nice goodies. Memories of the late 80s!
Jamie Marie Blanchard Only advantage Ray has more power in his voice. They better record these Original lineup of Awaken the Guardian gigs coming up with Mr. Arch.
I go through my periods of listening to various metal...then my feed suggests Arch/Matheos and I am back to 1986..good god that voice is pristine.. Arch is one of the best vocal instruments on the planet. Also the crowd at ua-cam.com/video/xDKb_-DWp7Q/v-deo.html -- gives me chils.
Its funny, when I heard that they were performing at KIT, I wondered if they would play anything from "The Guardian", and most people said "No", "No way", " don't think so", as if they had an inside scoop, and I thought what a great opportunity to dust off the songs out of the closet . . . and they freaking play tracks from "The Spectre Within" as well! :D I would have been completely shocked and weeping like a child if I were able to make it :'D. And the Arch/Matheos album is now been on my Top 10 Metal albums of all time. Man I hope they create another album :).
These guys where my 'salvation' during the trying years of highschool......now my kids are in highschool.....John hadn't played with 'Fates Warning' since. Anyone who was here at this concert after all of those years understands the feeling. It's about the rebirth....the humility....the conecting with the people.....the integrity with the music. The original Fates Warning music is like a 'shrine' to those of us who 'believe'. Thanks John.....thanks Matheos for the incredible musicianship....
besides the metal blade dvd comment liquifex left it would also be a CRIME if the "well see u soon" comment John made at the end of the KIT show isnt true....look how much fun Johns having upo there...and call me crazy but did I see Jim smile...lol.....Demon Lords wont u ride with me mount ur horse to the WEBSTER SATURDAY...ooohhh ooohhh....Arch is in you...Arch is in me...Arch has returned...This Saturday beware the kiss of death
The only problem that I see is Matheos know's he takes a back seat when John Arch is on vocals . Watch it a couple of times , than watch his stage demeanor with Adler . He acts different . Fates is JOHN JOHN is Fates
Mr. Arch, you still have a mesmerizing voice!!! the same voice that hypnotize me the first time that i heard you in the tape of Best of Metal Blade. 5 views in a row!!! This is orgasmic ;))
FUKKEN RITES...i agree i have been listening to all material written by all the musicians in the FATES camp......Arch is still a presence in the realm of metal....peace
I can't believe no one recording or uploaded anything from SR....I hope tonight's show gets filmed. I love the old stuff, but the new album is F'ing outstanding.
i don't know if I can agree with the sentiment that this is the "real" fates warning, Too much greatness achieved on the later albums. But I do love hearing this incarnation as well.
Look how much the crowd loves him...He deserves it..He is awesome..!!!
Oh yes I agree. So good to see/hear John singing songs that will always be on my high list of classics.
"The Apparition" is still one of the best songs I ever heard...... and Fates still one of the best bands, for sure..... btw gotta love the crowd
holy fucking shit watching him do that damnation intro, and it being around 30 years since recording it - and him being inactive in music for much of that, and then put on such a spot on performance, just holy fucking shit; all i can say..
No one, NO ONE, will ever reach this awesomeness...
Saw this video so many times....Arch is singing like it was 1985!
+doutorfred -- Indeed, Arch was about spot on!
+doutorfred He sure is
Arch is one in a million. That type of talent doesn’t come around often. Amazing singer / songwriter
11 years and counting, the greatest rendition of this song of all time.
great crowd. those are metal fans. it gives me chills when the audience sings along "in perfect symmetry". it is pure magic
I have been listening to this stuff since the early to mid 80's; the most underrated band in the world.
fuck yes
the REAL Fates Warning
es como de real mlli vanilli no le interesa a nadie jejejej me quedo con ray alder
John Arch KILLS IT again. Awesome.
Arch is a living God
This is one of the best Fates Warning songs ever. And it's great to hear John Arch singing this one once again.
Then Goosebumps and tears wow

I was there. Goosebumps all over even today
that's a real band! that's a real crowd!
One of the most memorable nights of my life. Honored to been in that crowd at both the Webster then a few years later in Atlanta

The greatest video on UA-cam. So glad to see/hear John singing again. Brings back such great memories.

+heavymetalnut1965 I've read he had to raise a daughter as a single parent. Can't fault him there.
Wow, it's the man himself singing the classics...John Arch will probably always be my favorite singer. I listen to AtG, and Spectre all the time, and still am wowed when I hear certain parts.
Truly amazing goose bumps from this!!

Fuck, tears in my eyes listening and watching this.
Current Fates Warning line up with Arch on vocals. Awesome.
I can die a happy man now! My bucket list is complete! Enough said! These two along with Guardian, don't get any better than that, sorry!
Just a wonderful beautiful performance!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
This is not real.... This is from another dimension! Another parallel universe!!! Enjoyed every single note from the whole concert!
So glad more people are coming out to support these underground legends. I was introduced to them when I was 13 and it changed alot for me. Band of bands, love them, with Arch and with Alder!

Absolutely the MOST AMAZING Reunion Ive ever seen in Metal. Not kidding.

Wow! Watched it several times and it is indeed AWESOME-The Four Corners of Life...tear rolling!!!
Arch still has it! And the fact that these - to me anyway - are the two songs that got me hooked on Fates makes it all the better. ^__^ I remember having a tape with these two songs, among other nice goodies. Memories of the late 80s!
This puts pressure on Ray. I wonder how John would sound singing Ray era Fates Warning?
+verve92 Oh, I suspect John would ace it.
Jamie Marie Blanchard Only advantage Ray has more power in his voice.
They better record these Original lineup of Awaken the Guardian gigs coming up with Mr. Arch.
How is this anything short of AWESOME??? We missed you John!!!
What a great lineup. I think Arch is one of the best. It's a joy to watch this performance! The Live version of Awaken The Guardian is a must have!!!
In third is an old man.....chills
missed for so long !!! very glad to see you back were you belong !!!
Been a Fates fan since 89'. Awaken the Guardian is my personal favorite, Fata Morgana!

I can remember the first three albums FW with him on the mic . Ray did his job well, but John is the original.
AmadeusTV they are both great, way different lyrics, music, etc. Cudos to Jim for keeping the band together with two great singers.

I can't believe no one recording or uploaded anything from SR....I hope tonight's show gets filmed. I love the old stuff, but the new album is F'ing outstanding.
