I was excited to see this reviewed because it's a knife I keep coming to during knife searches and drooling over. One thing the knife world lacks are nice, 3 inch blade tantos. This is actually one of the few examples. The blade and grinds are so gorgeous, and the blade shape is perfect for the utility tanto. If the stock were thinner and there was a notch carved into the scale for better thumb access, it would be a sure buy for, me. l would buy it now if I didn't have a couple of big knife purchases in front of it.
Nick, I just wanted to say thanks. I got my first two folders in the mail today. I ordered a Rat 2 and a Cryo with G10 scales. I wanted a nice finger flipper and another to go along with my Lionsteel M4 bushcrafting knife. I've been watching your channel for the better part of a year now and it took me a long time to make a decision but I'm happy with my purchase on budget thanks to you and your channel. Thanks!
You would hate the Chaves Redencion 228 mid tech. It is all the Megalodon but even more "Stout." Ha ha. Actually, maybe you would like it more. It is on thumb studs and the action is quite good. I fell for it and I actually love it even though it is a "pocket brick." Not an overbuilt fan, but the 228 just won me over. Ramon is actually a very good designer and stands behind his knives 100%. He will bend over backwards for you if you have any issues and he appreciates the hard earned money you spend on his knives. That means a lot to me as a consumer and a "knife addict."
Looks like your gripping the lock bar while trying to open it with your thumb, try moving your three fingers lower,; closer to the pocket clip and that may solve your issue. Had the same problem with my zt550.
Nick, did not know the best way to ask a question so excuse me if this is a break in protocol. I just bought a Case baby butter bean. It is a little tight to open, what kind of oil do you recommend for new knives ?
Old Fart He's done videos on this before, type in nick shabazz maintenance and its the first three videos. The first and second one are specifically about oils and lube. I hope that helps :)
Nick, Very nice review on this knife. I've handled one a few times and I agree, it's full of dichotomy that you summarized beautifully. The build quality is stunning and in spite of its quirks, I find it strangely alluring. I can't swallow the price, however.
I have this knife and honestly love it. Feels fantastic in the hand. I agree with you about its faults, however I don't regret buying it. It is rock solid in a small package and I have gotten used to opening it with time. Good review!
I have a knife that has a similar opening hole. What you do is to start with your thumb lower down the blade to brake the detent then as the blade starts to move your thumb slides up to the hole. Simples
I'm puzzled by the fact that the designer stuck an enormous sharpening choil on the blade and then utterly failed to turn it into a forward finger choil. He'd have been better off with no choil and a 90 degree plunge grind. I do really like the fact that the main edge on the blade has enough subtle belly to make it a better slicer than it would have been otherwise.
thanks review nice start to the day. agree with you on this knife. two things one the ergos look like would be weird you didnt talk about and just my thing seems a righty only knife be nice if reviewers mention it to save me from have to freeze frame to make sure and let knife makers know it is an issue for many of us knife buyers.
A bit thick behind the edge, freakin huge behind the edge.. And for me, 450$ and no lock bar insert or over travel stop... that's plain ugly.. But I like the blade shape just wish it was thinner. And don't get me started on the opening mechanism...
Frank Andre Holmestrand They also offer this knife anodized for $675 !!!!! Now that's just overpriced imo. Pretty nice design but definitely not cheap for what you get.
i will never understand these crazy thick blade stocks that so many people are obsessed with these days. its just never made any sense to me. sure i get beefy and durable, but if you are regularly breaking even normalish blades, youre doing something wrong with your knife and might want to just consider using a more appropriate tool
My feelings aren't complicated at all. I straight out feel nothing for this knife. I'd probably only hate it if I paid for one. I don't get the "darling of the day" love for this maker - although most of that goes to the Redencion, if for no other reason than the pocket clip. This one gets as close to acceptable in form and function as anything out of Ramon's stable, but at the end of the day it needs to go on Jenny Craig. Plus, c'mon, even "CH" knives have lockbar inserts. This is for people that want a Medford but _actually intend to carry it_ without having to go to the chiropractor.

+Scott Billeck Great choices!
Thanks to some great advice!
Another half an inch or three-quarters of an inch on the blade would be absolutely perfect!!!Nice looking knife.
This knife is ŞŤÜPĪĐ ȚHÏĆĶ

Hey Nick could you possibly do a full review of the Kershaw Dash? I got one a little while ago and enjoy it but I'd like to hear your input. Thanks!
That non functional deployment hole is the show stopper for me.
I know you dislike cold steel, but have you handled the holdout 3? that knife is a favorite of mine.

Hey Nick, will there be a review of the Benchmade crooked river anytime soon? I want one but I'm not really sure if it's worth the buy

On the ugly side the handles weren't milled out , but that would be rendered redundant by the slab of steel attached to them .

How do you like that PM2 in Carbon fiber?
Is it the peel ply cf over g10?
Do you like the M4 (I assume it's M4) ?
Sorry so many questions.
+Tmankiller72 It’s solid CF. great knife, and M4 is stellar.
Nick Shabazz I thought all of the M4 Carbon Fiber PM2's were actually the cf over g10 like the Sage .
I guess I am wrong . Thanks

Have you checked out the real steel megaladon at all?
Love the knife Nick ---but even though its probably worth it I 'm too practical to spend $500.00 on one...good review buddy...
alex o'neal If you want a similar knife except on washers and with thumb studs at less than a quarter the price, check out the Tops/Buck CSAR
hey nick what is a good razel knife under $150

That opening hole looks like a royal PITA.

You could have said the knife looks a little...

Nick didn't say "Hello" at the beginning of this vid. I feel unwelcome here. Unsubbed.

LOL at the brutal honesty. Overbuilt=stupid thick and midtech=overpriced. Couldn't agree more.

Cool
Now in 2021 i would love to pay 475 for this… just saw one go for 1300 on ebay
I like the logo because it is a terrible, terrible pun. It's a skeleton key.... think about it...
😂🤣
hello everyone
Hello Samuel.
Ugh!
This knife is just plain stupid
