It's the only silent to hit Best Picture (well, except for Sunrise and one more that would appear decades later...sort of) so it's obviously dated (and long) but it holds up beautifully. Amazing action sequences (without a smidge of CGI), an engaging love story and a strong war is hell angle with a killer ironic twist (although this aspect would be eclipsed by another BPW only three years later) make this a very worthwhile watch. Plus...early Gary Cooper!
First saw some of this movie in high school but didn’t watch the entire film until a few years after. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. The quality did not affect the length and the fact it is silent.
