  • Tilliliha divides people. Most only had it in school cafeterias, and it's not so popular to make at home. But for those who want to relive the nostalgia, here's how you make it at home.

    Most people have only had "central kitchen"-made tilliliha. Home-made from scratch is a whole 'nother ball game, as with most old school dishes! Nicely done.

      @@finnishyourplate At my school it was a hit or miss. Sometimes good, sometimes made out of rubber.

      @@finnishyourplate yeah kanaviillokki allright, it's supposed to be made with champignons and creamy white wine sauce.

    Tilliliha sounds musical to me --Tilly Leeha, the name of an enigmatic woman in a classical book of literature.
    Finnish is a beautiful sounding language, except for some words like yö (night), which sounds like someone about to retch. It makes me think Finns really, really do not like night time.

      @@finnishyourplate After trying to pronounce hääyöaie (hae--ew-uu-eye-eh), my mouth is now so crooked I cannot eat any food for now.
