Thank you guys for your acurate informations about the islands. But it seems that you missed a whole part of the main island : the north of koh Rong island. There you would have found the most beautiful and clean beach ever, going to the Lonely Beach Eco resort. You would have experienced the real island life in the respect of nature. Accommodations are simple but very charming and clean. Cost of transportation is only $30 return ticket per person, straight from Shk to the resort. They also have taxi boat to move around the islands and the cost is definitely less expensive than $80 per personn, 1 way.
Snorkeling trip, fish BBQ everynight on the beach, treck to the neighboring fishing village untouched by tourisme yet (only 1 4-bedroom guesthouse, on the river, called Firefly guesthouse), kayak on the untouched mangrove river, bioluminescent plaktons from the beach, everynight night...here are what you would have found there, to name a few.

I like how you guys stay down-to-earth and don't ham it up, and you give good thoughtful practical advice. So thanks. I have travelled extensively through South-East Asia, and while Cambodia has some lovely beaches for sure, for me Thailand and the Philippines has some of the best beaches on the planet.

The koh rong island 🏝️ is a private island no many people there.
There are plenty of hotels on both islands that are top notch with A/C, pool, and everything, but it costs more than $8. These people are trying to earn a living and they are are barely out of third world condition and so, do bring some cash so that you can afford comfortable accommodations.
How come the Khmer's don't invest in this island and make look nice and beautiful like Phu Quoc Island
