Drop tire pressure to 17 psi.....that works for me.... Lol....those harsh environments can be dangerous...snow and mud aren't very forgiving... Glad see everyone make it out.
lol. i went up a few weeks ago and literally got myself in the same situation. i thought id be back by 3pm but got back at 9pm. i learned, theres no harm in turning around and going back the way you came; when youre alllllmost there and snow-wheeling, that last little bit will be the hardest; and give yourself a lot more time in the snow. i finally used all my recovery gear including my winch. cheers to lessons learned
Man...I was so tired of being on the trail, super hungry and just wanted to get home to sleep haha...sometime things just doesn't go the way you planned.
What an adventure you guys had! lol. Glad you guys were able to recover from that washout/notch without damage. Too bad there were so many rigs; I swear, excessive trail traffic (on tight trails) is something I dislike the most.
Man...I wish you were there on that trail. Your 37s plus have helped blaze through that fresh snow. Having your winch would've made our experience less hectic and we could've gotten home earlier haha
I honestly hit so many more rocks running it at night blasting through so we can make it home quicker...hard to see all the obstacles underneath doing a night snow run like we did haha
Awesome! You guys were able to blaze fresh trail in all this traffic lol. I was alone in my K5 Blazer about 1 month ago, no windows or heater and it was getting a bit dark when i got stuck. Managed to get out but so much fun. Keep it up!
Yea for sure...I think beside getting stuck alone in Utah that was the most sketchy situation I've encountered. We're definitely want to plan something again to make up for not camping that day.
We ran that trail last fall with a 4x4 sprinter van. Beautiful trail but had some steep sections for a built out van. No way we would have made it with the conditions you drove through. Great video, Michael and glad you guys made it without any damage to yourselves or your rigs 😊
Yea I think the icy condition made it hard for anyone. especially a top heavy sprinter van. I think having proper tires definitely help. That stock Tacoma was on stock AT tires and it didn't do it's job...he got stuck 3 times if I counted correctly so made for a long time on the trail
Y’all’s meetup spot was right up the road from where I live. Not sure if Johnny lives in the area but I believe I’ve seen a taco just like it a couple times around town.
like always, good video Michael. How long ago was this? There's another 2 feet of snow forecasted to fall and this is the weekend I hit up Big Bear for 2 days of snowboarding. I plan on camping out in the Holcomb Valley. I was up in Big Bear a week and a half ago, and alot of the snow was melted. EDIT: My buddy Nori and I got stuck in the same spot, he has the tan Gladiator. He had me upfront, so that he could winch me back. He actually had to use me as an anchor to get up over the crest, then he winched me back and we pushed on. There were some really deep tracks for us, so deep that the 12" of skid plate clearance wasn't enough and I was shaving 2 to 4 inches of snow off the center of the track. Something with giant tires was blazing that trail. Just like your situation, it was an ordeal. Started at 3pm, ended at 9pm, which was much much later than we anticipated. This was back in over 3 years ago.
Hey Jon...this was mid February after a good 5 days of rain so it was so epic to see the mountains full of snow. I think this weekend will have some snow up there too. Debating whether to hit it up again haha
Yea ice is no fun...just asking for trouble. I think I remember that video you posted awhile back of you guys in that crazy snow storm. Definitely made us more aware of wheeling without a winch and it's on my list of mod.@@JonDZ_Adventuring
I don't think so...I don't know him personally but I think he might be new to off roading. The stock tires on the off road tacoma is just not meant for this type of terrains.
Great ride! What day was this? I was there March 16th and got caught in the snow storm about 3 miles from Big Pine Flats. Had to turn back around as the conditions were bad.
This was mid February...right after a week of snow. It was on a Saturday and everyone was out to enjoy the fresh powder. Made for a hectic day but we made it out safely haha
If the trail is not icy it's a super easy trail but the condition that day was not ideal for stock vehicles and especially the amount of traffic we got. But dry condition you should have no issue.
We did this trail I think in mid February...I don't know the condition now. Usually it's an easy trail even for 2wd but not sure if it's super rutted snow with all the storms we had in SoCal
@@Michael_Tran thanks for the reply sir, you’re really my inspiration doing offroad with 2wd tacoma, you’ll get a lot of mocking but i just ignore them…😂😂😂
Haha..thanks man. But FYI...this is my 4x4 Tacoma I've been wheeling the last 2 years with. The older videos are with my 2WD...I don't recommend snow wheeling in 2WD...it's quite dangerous especially with icy conditions. @@chikaymaravilla9245
This was mid February...had to publish a few videos first before having time to edit this adventure but this Saturday they should have another snowstorm up there. Gonna be like this again in a few days
Yup...I think that was one of the lesson learned. We were so close and was tired and didn't want to back track another 2hrs haha...but my gut was telling me to turn around.
Which area are you planning to do? We did some many...but you can look up coxey road, 3n16 or Holcomb valley or crab flats..these are all the route we took.
WILD TIMES👊🏻🌮
Indeed...definitely a memorable one for the book.
Drop tire pressure to 17 psi.....that works for me.... Lol....those harsh environments can be dangerous...snow and mud aren't very forgiving...
Glad see everyone make it out.
They say pushing your limits expands your capabilities. That was a big push! Glad you are back safe, warm and without any major issues.
I like that saying...definitely having another person help push the boundaries a bit but yeah, it was definitely a learning situation
lol. i went up a few weeks ago and literally got myself in the same situation. i thought id be back by 3pm but got back at 9pm. i learned, theres no harm in turning around and going back the way you came; when youre alllllmost there and snow-wheeling, that last little bit will be the hardest; and give yourself a lot more time in the snow. i finally used all my recovery gear including my winch. cheers to lessons learned
Damn that was the definition of an adventure. That night drive back looks so crazy. Good stuff man

Glad u guys made it out okay. So cool to see that we’ve gotten this much snow last couple of years
Man..we were almost ready to call it a night at that spot haha...glad we had recovery gears
Definitely a different vibe running the snow mountain at night.
I honestly hit so many more rocks running it at night blasting through so we can make it home quicker...hard to see all the obstacles underneath doing a night snow run like we did haha

that was dope bro but sketchy lol looked super fun, hope to see more content with both you guys 🤙

I can't imagine what that trail looks like in good weather!
It's not a bad trail in dry conditions...we've done it with my 2WD when it was dry but man...snow and ice made for a challenging trail even with 4x4
@@Michael_TranI actually meant the crowds. If it's that crowded in snow/wet, I can't imagine in dry conditions.
Y’all’s meetup spot was right up the road from where I live. Not sure if Johnny lives in the area but I believe I’ve seen a taco just like it a couple times around town.
Nice! I like how close that area is to all the off roading places.
And you did this in a 2wd? That is just amazing... you are def. making me re-consider my buy on a 2wd truck. Do you have lockers on?
This is my 4x4 that I've had for the past 2 years...I don't recommend doing this in 2wd haha.
@@Michael_Tran Ah sorry, my bad. No matter, still awesome :)

Do you know if the stockish tacoma that was stuck at 10:20 was using MTS or not?
I don't think so...I don't know him personally but I think he might be new to off roading. The stock tires on the off road tacoma is just not meant for this type of terrains.
Hey I thought you had s Sport but just noticed the Off Road fenders on that taco. Did you change fenders or whole truck?
Hey there...my old 2WD was a Sport...I've been running my 2021 TRD Off road for the past 2 years now.
@@Michael_Tran oh man, I guess I gotta go back and watch a few more episodes. Well good decision! 👍🏼

Hey Micheal if you don’t mind I’d like to join one day. I have a 23 taco trd off-road, but I have no one to ride with 🤣
Im planning a subscribers run soon...follow my IG for infos. Hopefully doing something not too crazy haha

Hey man I got the same truck and but its a 21 hopefully we can all meet on this upcoming run
preferably nothing with snow (stock suspension friendly) would be great
Gonna be an easy run...nothing like this video haha@@Mdozaaa

Thank you, Micheal.
Thank you for reminding me to avoid Big Bear during holidays
It wasn't even on a Holidays...it was right after a good storm so everyone and their family were out having fun.

My go to is Gaia gps...but I've used 4 different maps when routing trails

2wd the whole trip?

You need a winch for that type of terrain. Also, not good to be off-roading at night without good visibility to the road.
Sometimes the best decision you can make is to turn back. Live to wheel another day.
Yup...I think that was one of the lesson learned. We were so close and was tired and didn't want to back track another 2hrs haha...but my gut was telling me to turn around.
Can you send the location pin .📍 i have a 2010 silverado 4x4, i want to go offroading & i have my lil youtube channel too.
